It's results like that which encourage the 'lower' teams to no longer be afraid of the to Top 4...or 6 as it were, and to have a go. That and the top 4 clubs, in recent seasons, have been a shadow of their former selves...even at full strength.

It's good for the EPL though.

I agree, though Man City are still placed to have a dominant season if they can avoid any further wobbles. But beyond them positions 2-6 look pretty fluid.

I think Liverpool will do well to finish 5th-6th unless they find a way to score more often. Conversely, Spurs are having an unusually consistant season and could finish second. Chelsea or Man United might very well fall out of the top four.

Happy new years everyone! I haven't been looking too much at my fantasy team too much:eek:

but in other news Tim Howard scored a 100 yard goal! :D

and Landon Donovan made his Everton debut with a loan from LA Galaxy

David Beckham close to resigning a one year deal with Galaxy

can't wait for the 2012 MLS season to begin:)

Meanwhile, in Columbus Crew news, we have some significant signings - Chilean International (of Croatian parentage) midfielder Milovan Mirosevic, 31 joins Columbus along with Costa Rican striker Olman 'Golman' Vargas, 26.

The front office has hinted that a "well-known player" is close to filling our Designated Player slot. 'Well-known' doesn't necessarily mean 'good', but I'm hoping for the best.

Goldenballs will stay in LA, but he'll miss a month or more of the season due to the olympics.

Oh my, he did look awful. I can only imagine the Southhampton fans' confusion while watching that man bungle his way through the match, and then get re-subbed!

Not to be a pedant, but I am, so I will be. :D

Donovan made his Toffees debut in 2010!

True, just that this was his first match for Everton on his second loan, :D Donovan calls himself an evertonian for life

I highly think Capello will mark this as his final international game, there is no better stage to end his international career than an event such as the Olympics, unless he has another torn Achilles ;)

Actually, having now seen Howard's long-range effort against Bolton I can also see similarities to my five-a-side skills there as well. Thing is, smacking a ball 100 yards like that is what I call 'my first touch'. :p

Nothing to do with Capello though, he's the England manager – assuming Beckham plays he'll be turning out for Great Britain, managed by Stuart Pearce.

I can't see Beckham picking up any more England caps, though.

Mon dieu!

Zeese pockets are not what zey used to be! :)

Just watching the 1970 FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Leeds. My, how the game has changed since then! The two big differences are:

  1. Players didn't fall down after contact.
  2. The ball was DEAD compared the to models used in "modern" football that fly a mile and whiffle around in the air.

I need to watch more old football matches.
You mean todays players are a bunch of overpayed primadonnas and pansies?

Hello good people - long time reader of this thread, first time poster etc.

My team: Leeds United, for my sins

Sir Alex has a similar Nike benchcoat and also has problems getting his hand in his pocket, although that's because Howard Webb's in there.

Getting his hands in his pocket isn't a problem, it's getting him to take it out again with money in it - they should have bought Schneider when they had a chance.

Cheers,

Ray

I see a conflict brewing here. Rest assured, I dislike Leeds merely for form's sake - it's nothing personal. :D

A shocker, I know. Love the GIF by the way. ;)

...

As for United, I do find Fergie's lack of confidence in Berbatov continually perplexing. Why doesn't he like him?

Probably because the Bulgarian is skilful, intelligent, and isn't offside every other second.

Have to down arrow you; pushing as much as a Newcastle United defender.:) What are the arrow things? Is there a tin of sweets for the most points?

Cheers,

Whatever the case, he is criminally underused at Man Utd.

Or maybe a slap upside the head for the least? ;)

My only worry this year is that Arsenal will over use, Robin van Persie and he will a spent force at the European Championships June July 2012.:(
