The taint spreads quickly, I see. :D

Besides running the ball into the corner when he should instead be trying to take defenders down a la Ben Arfa, Robbie (whose full name is the majestic Robert Hampton Rogers III) is a model and has his own clothing line. Maybe he'll smarten up the look of his fellow players at Leeds.

He'll have to give the shirts extra long sleeves though. ;)

Would Jane Goodall be impressed?

Good point. Look for the full name on the shirt. :D

There is a historical link between Columbus and Leeds United - way back in the dim reaches of history (1997 to be precise), Leeds United arrived Crew Stadium for an exhibiton match - Columbus' first ever match against foreign opposition. The Crew won, 2-1, proving conclusively that Robbie is moving down in the world by heading to Leeds.

Since this won't last long, I feel like I need to point this out.

That is all. :D

Whoah - all the Leeds abuse and it isn't even Friday yet ;)

I'm sure Rob Rogers (sounds a bit like a superhero name) will settle in well - and I'm sure the silly parts of his name will be a source of morale boosting banter in the dressing room.

As for the longer sleeved shirts, your lordship, not all Leeds players/fans are simians - I suppose they could be trimmed down if not needed.

----------

And speaking of long-armed folk, I saw a little of last nights game. Andy Carroll is depreciating at about £70k per day. I feel for him though, it was a big move and price tag. It looks like it'll take a while before he settles in :(

American-based players called Robbie moving to Englandshire seems to be quite the fashion at the moment, as Robbie Keane's loan switch from LA Galaxy to Aston Villa is completed.

Keane, Villa, boyhood dream, you know the rest, blah blah blah.

He has got that 'British tourist just back from Spain, aka The Lobster' look, should fit in.

Sadly the Manchester City v Liverpool game didn't end up 7 v 7. :D

Cheers,

I hope Robbie does well (back in Columbus we call him The Robbie Rogers, or tRR for short). He is fit, has pace and can shoot well with both feet. His corner delivery is good. In his better moments he's willing to take people on 1v1. He needs to be more consistent; he needs more polish to his technical game and needs to improve his decisionmaking. Jurgen Klinsmann probably told him that he needs to play in Europe if he wants to get more caps, so that's where he's gone.

Don't worry, the banter is just contractural for me as a non-Leeds supporter - it's nothing personal! And look at the bright side - at least you aren't a Man U fan! (though I like silencio anyway :))

It's been a very slow start to be sure. If he hasn't found form by the end of the season he'll be under a ton of pressure, even compared to what he's facing now. I feel that something needs to change - the way he's used, his confidence, his fitness...something. maybe he's just fated never to work out for Liverpool.

I think second is not even out of the question at this point. They have been remarkably consistent so far.

And consistency is unusual for them. Are you trying to reverse-jinx us?

Actually I think it's partly because of the recent easy schedule. They haven't played many good teams lately. (Although it's impressive that they haven't been playing down to their opponents, which they've tended to do the last few years.) soon they'll hit a stretch that will really test them: Man City, Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal and Man U.

The thorn is Man City's side remains so. City should've let him go but they decided to hold a hard line to the point of excess. This is why i don't criticize Wenger when he releases players. If a player wants out..let him out.

Now no one wants to buy Tevez outright because he's too expensive AND his reputation precedes him i.e. it's too much of a gamble...yet he will no longer play for City. So both parties are stuck until City eventually have no choice but to sell him off at a huge loss.

It will be disgusting to see Tevez go for a cut-rate price; he is making a mockery of the notion of signing a contract. One can only hope that Man City let him rot.

A scoreless draw with Stoke. The result is unsurprising but the starting formation was. Another zero striker formation, since I don't consider Kuyt a striker.

We won though – most pleasing. My 'Keep Calm & Pass to Koren' t-shirt worn under my City shirt (it's cold, had to layer up ;)) did the trick as the King of Slovenia smote home the only goal of the game. Ace. :)

Excellent! I'm afraid a T-shirt and a football shirt would not be adequate layering for me in Alaska. Walking home from the pub last night, the weather was a cool but comfortable 9F. This morning it was a somewhat chilly -5F. ;)

With all those clothes on, how do you show off all your Hull City AFC tattoos? :D
I have no tattoos, unlike Dean Windass.

I mention Deano because, from what I can gather from twitter chat, one of the Sunday papers is running an article on him tomorrow. The piece apparently discusses his problems with depression, and that he's twice tried to take his life as a result.

His Sky Sports colleague Chris Kamara tweeted earlier that Windass is going into the Tony Adams Sporting Chance clinic next week, and indicates that he's had problems coming to terms with the end of his playing career.

I hope that the story has broken because Dean's decided to be open about his problems and not because some tabloid hack has got a sniff of it. But either way, I really hope he can get things sorted out. He's bloody ace and we all love him to bits.
