EDIT: Spurs fans are going to be the big losers here, Redknapp has turned them into a very good team. I hear Colin is still free...or, on a slightly more serious note, Rafa Benitez or (if Redknapp only joins England in the summer) Mourinho? Spurs could win the league if Mou steps in.

Just when I figured his acquittal meant we didn't have to worry about him leaving until summer, this comes along. Even on the rare chance that Spurs could get a better manager than Redknapp has done, a midseason switch would be pretty disruptive.

Hopefully he stays through the end of the season. Or turns it down, I guess. But no one seems to think he would do that. And everyone seems to think he'll get the offer.

He will go, there's no doubt of that. The best you can hope for is that he finishes out the season at Spurs, either taking the England job part-time, or waiting to begin his England duties, till the summer.

Spurs need to start looking for a replacement immediately.

Eeeexcellent :D

I do think Redknapp will see out the season at Spurs at the very least, and if he does go, Mourinho would make an interesting replacement :)

Could give it to Colin in the mean time, would certainly make me chuckle :p

Agree Redknapp will certainly see out the season with Spurs, either part-time managing England too; or more likely, letting Stuart Pierce have control (ugh) until the end of the season.

Don't see Mourinho at Spurs... won't pay him enough. More interesting with him I think would be if City don't win the league, or if Chelsea don't get 4th (perhaps even if they do)... jobs on the line? City/Chelsea are much more likely Mourinho openings...

It will do England some good to have Harry in charge, at least his players will be able to understand what he says. ;)

Mourinho will not leave Spain for Spurs, (not enough money)

Chelsea or Manchester City, who knows what is being discussed in back rooms.

The FA Have confirmed that Pearce will take over as interim manager until a permanent appointment is made, so that's the friendly against Happybunny's boys covered at least.

The wording of it seems to suggest that Pearce won't be in charge of Euro 2012. I was a bit surprised by Capello going, I thought he would after his contract was up at the Euros. I think he's been given a lot less stick by the press as his predecessors, maybe because of the language barrier preventing him doing proper press conferences.

I note the FA said they wanted a English or "British" manager... it's an open secret that David Moyes can have the Scotland job whenever he wants a pay cut, I wonder if he could be tempted by England who's wages are better...

Comedy factor aside, I'd prefer not to see Harry take the job. Mind you there isn't a transfer market in international football and he's already stated he's not a wheeler dealer in the transfer business.

Harry and The Special One:

I'd prefer Mourinho as England manager; think the team would be harder to beat. Foreign, but has managed an English club. As for defeating Barcelona, how many managers achieve that on a regular basis?

Harry and family can skip the hassle, and he can try to leave Spurs as a regular 'Top 4' team with a Champions League Final appearance under its belt.

LB, thanks re AB.

Cheers,
OW

But does Mou want to work for Abramovich again? And is Abramovich really ready to dump AVB already? I'm not so sure about the former, though the latter is likely enough. And Spurs have a lot of money, if not quite as much as City, Chelsea, United or even Liverpool. I could see Mourinho going to Spurs. he's probably going to have to take a pay cut wherever he goes next anyway.

If Neil Warnock gets anywhere near the England job I'm switching nationality. Even hearing him talking about it on the telly last night made me wish I was Welsh or something.

Are you sure? See below:

My Ancestor said:
Well don't [go to Wales], it's a ghastly place. Huge gangs of tough sinewy men roam the valleys terrorising people with their close-harmony singing. You need half a pint of phlegm in your throat just to pronounce the placenames. Never ask for directions in Wales Baldrick, you'll be washing spit out of your hair for a fortnight.

And Craig Bellamy.

The English media seem to be enchanted with Redknapp, and they are playing up his chumminess as his greatest asset, something that none of the other potentials (Pearce, Hodgson, Mourinho) have - but wasn't that the very thing everyone made fun of Shteve McClaren for?

Mourinho is a better manager than 'Arry Redknapp by miles - but would he be a better England manager?

to be honest there could very likely be no worse timing for replacing a manager...
earlier: more time for the new manager to bring forward his system
later: team already prepared enough for the EURO

after all what can be done at this point ? bringing in a new game system ? the spanish, dutch and germans have been playing theirs since years so that would be impossible in this time frame of a few short games

and bringing in new fresh blood sure would be a huge gamble ... but knowing the english they will show up after a half a..ed preparation without a game plan, blaming the new official ball, the food and uncomfortable seats in the airplane
including an english press which is yet again surprised why the cup isn't handed to the best team in the world(tm) automatically ;)

All of this moot as the WAGS get most of the attention. I'll never forget the world press watching with shock and amusement, as they paraded in Baden Baden. :D

Those wags aren't as half as good looking as the newly unveiled German away shirt, though.

Lovely stuff. :)

back to green away shirts ? i have to say i was never impressed by those but at least they managed a classic look
IMHO the black away design fitted them better

I don't know about anyone else but I kind of forget about our chances of winning tournaments as soon as the qualification groups are drawn. :D

Like it or not, when it comes to European national teams, England is inferior to Spain, Germany, Italy and probably the Netherlands. It would not surprise me if Spain is the heavy favorite for Euro 2012.

They're the bookies favourites, but I predict Germany to have a strong tournament...

However, when the Spanish national team can choose its players from FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF, that gives them a potential decided advantage over everyone else. The Germans look good on paper, but they can't seem to "close the deal," to use the American expression.

Suarez has simply not done himself any favours in this match thus far.

Not at all, and the entire Liverpool team is playing like ****.

edit: Evra and ManUtd celebrating like they've won the FA Cup isn't helping the situation.
