UP THE OWLS!

That was a slick freekick by Llera, pachyderm. ;)

As for Liverpool, two positive points: we did not lose, and Agger returned and played well. Apart from that, the misery continues.

Chelsea looked no better against Wigan than Liverpool did. They got very lucky with some bad calls. If they play like that against Barca the Catalans will absolutely humiliate them.

EDIT: Columbus are getting pounded into submission at home against New York. Thierry Henry just scored in the 40th minute to put the New York Energy Drinks up 3-0 after Kenny Cooper scored in the 3rd and 13th minutes. It's looking ugly. :(

The South Coast Southhampton vs Portsmouth derby ended 2-2... puts us level on points with Soton and only 2nd on GD.

Monday/Tuesday and Friday/Saturday could basically decide who gets promoted now. Mathematically, by 5pm on Saturday, we could be up...

(But hopefully not, as as JC said, the Championship is way better! :D )

Clint Dempsey with two goals today in the win over Bolton. He has himself scored two more league goals this season than the entire Liverpool squad.

Columbus 1-4 New York. Henry and Cooper each with a pair of goals. Big Chad Marshall leaped like a salmon to head in the Crew's consolation. Let the recriminations and "Fire Coach Warzycha" calls begin.

Columbus were outplayed but we had chances to score several goals. NY is hot right now, their offense is really clicking. we just need to regroup and prepare for our next match.

It gets worse!

Gary Megson and his faithful assistant (& former Wolves accademy manager) Chris Evans were in the crowd at Stoke tonight to witness us maintain our 6 point advantage in the race to the Championship. The rumours are that he's going to replace the clueless chap who currently stands in front of our dugout.

He was made Lord of the Manor of West Bromwich after managing our arch-enemies but he's not very popular down the road in Wolverhampton.

Maybe all football supporters should band together and create a Kick Megson Out of Football campaign.
Back in the late 70s and well into the 80s, it's shameful to say that Megson was an all too common sight at grounds in this country.

We live in more enlightened times now though and Megson is all but gone – but he still rears his ugly head from time to time. We can't be complacent about this issue, he needs to be stamped out.

MON 'EH SONS!

roll on Sons, roll on...

You're welcome Oscillatewildly and Silencio.

Today just further highlighted the fact that City aren't a team but rather a group of mercenaries and one overpaid infant. Utd in contrast are a team under SAF. They (City) also sorely missed Silva and Toure which gutted their engine room and consequently left Aguero isolated whilst the other attacker was busy applying for a Red Card.

I wanted someone other than Utd to lift the trophy but the reality is they were the team that sucked less throughout. Hence they deserve it...or rather SAF deserves it. For getting one of the most average (if not the most) Utd teams i've ever come across to lift the trophy.

I really hope RVP starts scoring again because i want him to win the Boot. He deserves it for being head and shoulders above the rest this season.

If he can't score on Wednesday against a side that has lost the last 6 games and has the worst defensive record in the league he doesn't deserve it. ;)

Not like the Gunners didn't get anything for themselves out of the result — solidified their hold on an automatic Champions League spot at the expense of Spurs, always a good thing, no?

even tho i don't like them i think the geordies are the most interesting story this season.

For me it's a tight finish in that category between Newcastle and Swansea. Have to say the Swans have been extremely impressive for a just-promoted club and played some fantastic football. Still, don't know what Newcastle's scouts are eating for breakfast, but they've made some incredible finds.

The race for fourth is going to be very fascinating indeed, assuming Arsenal hangs on to third.

MacRumors stalwart The 2010-2011 Football Thread has announced his retirement with immediate effect.

There had been speculation about the Thread's future in the past few weeks and it had looked increasingly likely he would end his stellar career at the end of the campaign.

He said: "This was not a decision I have taken lightly but I feel now is the right time for me to be locked.

"To have had such a long and successful career at MacRumors has been a real honour – and in particular I'd like to thank the posters for their tremendous support throughout the season."

The Thread has enjoyed a particularly long career – amassing over 3,300 posts – and now looks set to join the MacRumors Coaching Staff, helping to develop the potential of young up-and-coming threads.

The announcement naturally sparked a hunt for an immediate replacement, with none other than the 2011-12 Football Thread promoted from the reserves to take his predecessor's place.

The young thread commented, "We all know what 2010-11 achieved here, but I'm inspired by his achievements rather than intimidated. I know there'll be testing times ahead – disagreements over new kit designs, confused NFL fans wandering in – but I'm sure I can overcome these and become an important member of the Community Forum squad."

Speaking of The 2011-2012 Football, it is clearly that Manchest Union will be the champion of EPL. And Real Madrid will be the champion of EuroPremium.

I see your point. But a 2pt gap isn't as solidified as an 8pt one. Utd benefitted the most from the result.
