For me it's a tight finish in that category between Newcastle and Swansea. Have to say the Swans have been extremely impressive for a just-promoted club and played some fantastic football. Still, don't know what Newcastle's scouts are eating for breakfast, but they've made some incredible finds.

good point.

^ That Evans fella sounds like a real scumbag.

They bought a great pair of strikers on the cheap. But suddenly everyone seems to have forgotten about Xisco...

The race for fourth is going to be very fascinating indeed, assuming Arsenal hangs on to third.

I think it also indicates that English sides could have a rough time of it in the CL next year. The close title/CL spot races have come about (IMO) due to a general weakening in the quality of the English league. I think we could see a round of early CL exits for the Premier League in 2012-2013.

Credit to Necastle for exceeding all expectations this season though, especially after losing several key defenders early on.

Cracking game between West Ham and Birmingham. Better than some of the recent snoozefests of the EPL.

Hoping Fulham do a job on Chelski today.

On another note. Certain Arsenal mysteries baffle me. How we end up scouting a Chamakh (caught smoking shisha) instead of a Cisse, or a Gervinho (self explanatory) instead of a Ben Arfa.

To be fair, you've had players like Bergkamp and Henry...and Newcastle have had their own Gervinhos and Chamakhs (like Xisco, as I pointed out earlier).

By the way, I don't see the big deal about the shisha. Tourists smoke hookahs at Moroccan restaurants all the time...it's not like he was smoking hasish or something, right?

cambookpro - :D for the contrasting photos.

Lord Blackadder,

Columbus - poor strength and marking for the early goals, and the icing for New York was Henry scoring the 4th during the announcement of the Marshall goal.:(

Chamakh - smoking anything?

daneoni,

Arteta he scores better, he scores well, well, well. :D Spurs

Linesmen and some of the misses this week.

Does Brendan Rodgers forbid diagonal passes? Swansea took ages to switch it against Newcastle.

And Clattenburg and Lamps combine to put Chelsea 1 up against Fulham.

Cheers,
OW

Most supporters are pointing the finger at utility player Eric Gherig as being responsible for the first two goals. He did well against Toronto but here he was poor. NY have a lot of firepower and our midfield was overrun. 30% posession says it all. A bad day at the office. :( The second Henry goal was a dagger to the heart.

Come on, Clint. Put the hurt on the Blues.

True and thats why we miss having David Dein upstairs at Arsenal. He made all those transfers possible.

I don't think its the shisha itself but rather how it highlights his lack of effort or commitment. No real desire to up his game and get back in the team. Anytime he's subbed on he's huffing and puffing within a few minutes and looks like he'd rather go home. Just general lack of professionalism.

Oh well, the general consensus is Arsene plans to ship him out in the summer. Speaking of summer transfers, M'Villa has hinted his desire to move to the Emirates in the summer. But i doubt Wenger will pay the £20m. Especially since we're not really desperate for a holding midfielder.

Lastly on an unrelated note, Nasri has been having a go at us after yesterday's result.

EDIT: Haha. Dempsey you beauty!

Yet more proof that Chelski don't stand a chance against Barca. I wonder how much Dempsey will be worth in summer. Wouldn't mind seeing him in an Arsenal shirt.

Overall a good day for Arsenal. Spurs and Chelski both drop points and we have a game in hand...could be 5pts clear by Wed. Based on recent performances, the upcoming wembley game and subsequent battering from Barca, i'm even more confident about beating Chelski at the Emirates.

Not really worried about the Geordies either. They have 3-4 tough games coming up and are likely to drop points in at least 2 of them.

The Guardian MBM said Clint's equalizer is going to tagged as an own goal on Cahill. Bollocks.

As for Dempsey's future, I'm not sure I want to see him leave Fulham, since he's a star there and gets lots of playing time. But it would be nice to see him join a bigger club and keep scoring goals...as long as it isn't Man U, that would plunge me into an existential crisis. Let United have the Mexican stars, so I can combine all my football hatreds in one place. ;)

Everton crushed Sunderland. That does not bode well for our FA Cup meeting...

I think Norwich certainly need a notable mention, as they too are a newly promoted team, and are currently 4 places above Swansea :)

True that. Swansea has hit a rough patch of late, whereas the Canaries are on excellent form right now. Level on points with Liverpool this late in the season? Good stuff. Plus, Stephen Fry is one of their directors.

Funny that I thought QPR was the most likely of the promoted clubs to stay up, but in all likelihood they are not, and I can't say I'll miss them much.

I think he should stay where he is. He's a regular starter, one of the stars of the team, living in London and making good if not outrageous money. If he goes to a Champions League club he'll ride the bench and it will hurt his form with the national team. I don't want him to be a 3rd choice utility man at Utd or City.

Dempsey,

Odd to say with Giggs and Scholes in the squad, but I think the American will be considered too old by Manchester United - building a young team. I hope he doesn't move; his playing time and my FF options.

What is going on with Liverpool's keepers?

Cheers,
OW

Take that, Blackburn.

I'd trade the three points for Pepe Reina though. :( Keepers are extra important in knockout competitions. Agger and Johnson will be available against Everton, but with a 3rd string keeper between the sticks we will need to protect him.

Reading absolutely DEMOLISHED Brighton at the Amex today...
Well, 1-0 isn't bad for a team who hadn't lost at home in 2012. We rode our luck at times though, first half we were awful and they had a penalty saved second half. Oh well, looking forward to the title decider at St Mary's on Friday!! :D

I don't know about the others, but Peter Gulacsi has been doling out Easter eggs to poorly Hull youngsters...

He might be getting a bag packed right now, though.

Footballers doing good. Bah! Who wants to know about that?

Good to see the rules of 'Palm on back, punch, studs to the knee' are coming on; the latest being 'palm' beats 'studs'.
