That's cool… granted it is a very small sample, only 5 games, but my main point is that the Blues of late, under Hitch's guidance, have been more aggressive, faster, and smarter than they were before,,, and for the most part so when compared to their oppositions - and the opposition teams are no slouches; I've a lot of respect for them.

Yeah, they have been amazing since Hitch arrived. A lot of people on a different board did not like the hiring at all, but its been great for them so far!

My Panthers held on to beat the Pens last night 3-2. While I would have been more comfortable with Vokoun back, Theodore has been amazing this year. He made some great saves last night in the 3rd, and held on for the win in the last minute, when Pitt put major pressure on them. I still cant believe that they are two points out of the top spot in the East, albeit the season is 25% into the season. If it wasnt for a couple of failed clearing attempts, they would have the best record in the league right now. I just want to see them maintain this play until the deadline, where you will see Tallon be a buyer, which would be the first time a Panther team is a buyer since 2000.

Crosby's back tonight.. and Bruins-Habs. should be a good night for hockey.

Bumping Bruis/Habs off of Versus for the return of Sidney Crosby is ridiculous. The Islanders absolutely blow, who wants to watch this game? Hey NHL, teams are more important than individuals.

2 goals, 2 assists. Sid is back.

I hope he can stay healthy.

I didn't get to see the game, but from the highlights it doesn't appear that the Isles took it easy on him.

I broke my foot. I'm out for four weeks at least. Not happy right now. :(

A very nice rugby player who came to the game helped me get home though. And we're going out Saturday night. :)

Good to see him back. He looked like same old Crosby.

Bruins played decent against the habs tonight, but Tim Thomas stole the show. Unbelievable vezina-quality performance tonight, for his 2nd of back to back shutouts. Bruins have now won 9 in a row, and moved to 2nd in the eastern conference with the win (we were 2nd to last 16 days ago).

Im glad Crosby is back, because he is the face of the league, but my highlight of the night was by my Panthers, who scored four unanswered goals, after being down 3-0 midway through the first. There is no better top line in the league, currently, than the Panthers Fleischmann-Weiss-Versteeg trio. They have accounted for 66 points (28g 38a), and are a +40. They put on a CLINIC against whoever the Devils tried to send at them, and scored all four goals tonight. After 10 years of being a stepping stone in the league, Im happy to see this Panther team succeeding! Tops in the SE, and 2 points out of 1st in the conference, a position the Panthers havent been in this late, or early, into the season since 2000!

A virtuoso performance by Tim Thomas tonight, for sure, and nice to see the Bruins back where they belong. Can't wait for Bruins/Sabres.

I think it was also shown on NESN. I watched at Jacob Wirth -- good game but didn't see the details. I'm looking forward to watching it tonight.

Same for me -- 2&2 isn't a bad opener though for anyone!

Lee, somehow this happens to you -- a bad thing and then a good thing. Good luck with both. (Post pics of the foot!!)

A little lucky to come away with the win thanks to Timmy. But not a terrible effort. Marchand nearly gave me a heart attack at the end. If he would have just cleared it and not worried about trying to get an empty netter it would have been fine.

Lee rub dirt on it, I heard that helps.

I skated with a broken foot. Had to have surgery on it to fix the bones. The bone didn't heal correctly. I had a bone spur the size of a quarter and 4 mm high.

I finally saw the dr when I couldn't lace them up.

If it time to heal correctly or you'll pay the price

I met him the day before at a benefit my hockey team had for his rugby team. We're trying to send them to Nottingham to compete.

Ouch. Sorry Lee. How did you manage that? :(

It happened a week ago at practice, I think. I'm thinking I tied my skate too tight and the pressure broke it. Practice is intense- way crazier than a game.

Sure, because you can't run to save your ass. :p

Not right now, anyway.

Yeah- the doctors said the bone had already started healing and that I was lucky it was set OK. I'm not dumb. I'll lay low for a month.

@MooneyFlyer

anyone in Beantown miss Kessel?

hell no.

we won the cup without him.

we got Dougie Hamilton, who is a potential top pair defenseman, and Jared Knight.

and a potential superstar in the making in Tyler Seguin.

Kessel didn't fit the big bad bruins mentality. Seguin has bought in to it and he's going to grow up in the system. Watch out NHL

Anyone would want a guy like Kessel especially since he is killing it this year - it would be foolish not to. The numbers don't lie.

Seguin should end up to be as good if not better in the long run but it will take some time to get there. The question about team cohesiveness is a fair one and, starting early, Seguin is being groomed to fit in naturally.

Seguin has 11-10=21 in two fewer games to Kessel's 16-13=29. Since it is only the kid's second season, he looks pretty solid to me.

But, to be fair, I listed Kessel on my all star ballot. Seguin doesn't even appear on the ballot (yet) even though he will likely have the most Bruin goals this year if he stays on the line with Bergeron.

Kessel's definitely a point machine. Seguin looks to be developing in to a much better two way player though. Playing with Bergeron is only going to help that. This kid is 19 and is already on PPG pace playing 2nd RW and top PP for the defending champs. He's got great vision and a killer shot too.

Nothing against Kessel, but Segs has been averaging 5 min per game less of ice time. Not sure where he's at now, but before the game last Saturday he was #1 in points and goals per minute of ice time.

If they stopped voting now, Segs would make it as a write in. If he keeps up this pace, he's going to make it even though he isn't on the ballot.

I LOVE him playing with Bergeron. Bergeron is still one of the most underrated players in the league, and playing with someone who can actually finish is going to get him back to 70+ pts. Marchand adds another dimension of speed to that line too.

Not saying that Seguin is even close to Crosby yet (although he definitely has at least Stamkos/Toews potential), but him with Bergy reminds me of Bergy & Crosby on the same line in 2005 (and 2010 for a little while).

I just love watching this kid.. it's a real treat to watch someone who is so dangerous and a threat to score whenever he touches the puck. I know I'm still pretty young, but I have NEVER seen this before with a player on my own team.

And that makes him a threat to your average journeyman player.

Wonder how long it will take for the 'long knives' to come out for the poor lad.

Well said.

I still can't get over Crosby's performance the other night. The amount of pressure on him, the amount of media (3-4x the usual), nationwide coverage on Versus and on a special Monday night HNIC broadcast, at home, etc. Just amazing.

Leafs destroyed TB's trap last night. Great effort and a solid win by a roster decimated by injury.

There's a reason he's the best player in hockey. Ovechkin should take note.

That said, you can bet there was a lot of adrenaline going for him the other night. Lets see how he does the next few games now that he got the first one out of the way.

Good. I'm sick of hearing the whining from some teams (*cough*flyers*cough*) about the 1-3-1. Don't like it? Then beat them.
