so let me understand this logic- a coach is fired by team A. THE NEXT DAY, team B while struggling, just won a game. Team B then fires its head coach and members of his staff and replaces the head coach with the coach fired by team A.

if someone can explain this logic, please do because I don't get it at all

Not to mention that Team B's coach was just signed to a three year contract extension by Team B this past summer.

Supposedly, and the play was a lot closer than the score indicates. I didn't see the game though, so maybe it's just wishful thinking.

If you are talking Bs/Leafs it was a better game than the score showed. (don't read more if you haven't watched)

Both teams played hard, fast hockey. Leafs PP is very good. Big hits all night. Bs first line puilled their heads out of each others asses and put some points up for the first time in nearly 10 games for two of them anyway. Thomas was a big factor again even after letting up 3... Could have been more.

Flip side of the home/home game on Sat. I'll be there!!

EDIT:
Btw: no one seems to want to talk about this so I'll throw it out there.

According to the toronto reporters "it felt like a win for the leafs".

wow. losing on a wednesday night in november 6-3 feels like a win for them? I almost feel sorry for them.

Chiarelli signed DK to a 3 year extension this morning.. and Timmy T got 1st star of the month (9-0, .941sv%, 3SO). good morning to be a b's fan :)

If this was a Boston player there would be 5 pages about it.

edit--

Just found this. I know +/- isn't the best stat, but I thought it was pretty impressive

Good analysis. It was a good, hard fought game by both teams. The goaltending made the difference in this one. As that article states, if the goalies were swapped, the score might have been 6-2 Leafs (yes, I'm aware that that's stupid).

I think it was mentioned somewhere in the last couple of pages. He's an idiot for sticking his elbow out.

First of all, the Toronto Sun is barely a newspaper.

Secondly, I think you're missing the point of the article: the game was a lot closer than the score indicates, and for Leafs fans, that's a really promising sign. It's been years since we've had a team that can actually compete with the top teams in the NHL on a consistent basis. The fact that the game wasn't a lopsided blowout and the Leafs are "legit" according to your coach, is a big deal. It's not a fluke that we're near the top of the standings. I don't think the writer meant that the players were drinking champagne out of a tinfoil Stanley Cup in the locker room after the game.

I have thought about this carlyle/ boudreau thing and I have a theory-
Perry, Getzlaf and Ryan are un-tradable. Trading one, no matter what comes back will be devastating. Ergo, firing Caryle was the only option available to get this team's head out of the sand and let them stop acting like they are god's gift to hockey and start giving a crap (though as a Sharks fan, I hope they continue their primadona ways and lose every game and let teemiss salami go away like the rash on the NHL that he is)

Go Hawks! Hell yes!

Winning 5-4 in the shootout against the Islanders at home is hardly a "Go Hawks! Hell yes!" moment. It's more of a "Phew!" moment.:p:p:D

I'm watching the Flyers @ Ducks game, and it's a good one. It's in OT....game over, Giroux scored. BS double minor penalty call on Getzlaf in OT which led to that PP goal.....

It was.

That gave me a chuckle. Going to see our boys play tonight Surely

I'll be watching.....the NHL Network is showing the game (hopefully the CBC feed). As you usually do, be sure to stand up every time the camera pans to your end of the ice and wave your arm around so you'll be noticed on TV (I say "arm", because your other hand will be holding your iPhone to your ear so you can ask your friends "Can you see me? Can you see me waving?!?! That's me!!!"

haha - bastard!! I'm sure some of those guys will be there -- they are usually on the glass though (look for the Leafs sweater!). I'll be camera side, far left near where the zamboni comes out, 7 rows up. I *might* give you a one-finger wave early when there is a faceoff near me -- you'll know because my wife will look at me like "WTF are you doing?"

Now you have to do that. Don't wuss out.

I found this amusing: Leafs GM Brian Burke wanted to rent a barn to fight Kevin Lowe

just watched the Tootoo run-in with Miller.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Video-Jordin-Tootoo-runs-Ryan-Miller-in-his-fir?urn=nhl-wp18939

While I have never ever been a Tootoo fan, this will be difficult to decide what will happen. His long, long rap sheet doesn't help, but I don't think he will be reprimanded. That said, he didn't need to literally try and fly out of the way.

EDIT-just looked at the box score-Tootoo got a MAJOR for charging and a Game.

Suspension will absolutely be coming...

If the Bruins ever signed tootoo I would burn all 10 of my game jerseys and other Bruins paraphernalia and never watch another game.
I would become a Canadians fan or worse a flyers fan.

Let's see the outrage now :)

In the crease is going to be the big issue. The leaving his feet part I don't have that much of a problem with because I don't think he did that to try to make the hit harder. As for whether he was pushed -- he was but I don't think it was enough. My prediction - 3 games.

I'd like to thank about 5000 Leafs fans for joining me in the Garden last night. I was completely amazed by how many there were. Having said that -- it was pretty interesting how brash they were to the Boston fans. Once I was out for a beverage and there were Leafs fans taunting Bruins fans. Once it was a guy in a Habs jersey standing right up to B's fans and talking smack (instigating). Personally, I just don't get why people do this. Unbelievably the Bruins fans mostly just ignored him and didn't escalate it. Good job boys.

And, another win. Leafs were a complete disaster in the 3rd period. The rest of the game was pretty good. It is interesting how the Leafs forwards continually manage to get by the defense at the blue line.

There won't be any need for outrage if Tootoo is suspended. If he isn't suspended (like Lucic wasn't), then I suspect there will be outrage.

And just to close off the whole Lucic hit on Miller saga: earlier in the thread, someone posted a Miller quote where he said that he wasn't sure if it was a concussion or not. They talked about that quote on HNIC last night after the 2nd period of the Leafs/Bs game. Basically, they said that it's not up to Miller to decide if it was a concussion or not. The doctors diagnosed him with a concussion, and unless he got another medical opinion stating it wasn't a concussion (he didn't), then it was a concussion. I think the reason Miller said he wasn't sure if it was one or not was because the symptoms dissipated quickly.

Every team has douchebag fans, even mine, even yours (and especially the Habs ;)). I'm not going to apologize for them because, frankly, it's not like I would associate with people as idiotic as that.

They were probably so "brash" because they're used to being able to taunt, etc. back in Toronto without fear of having their asses kicked.

And, another win. Leafs were a complete disaster in the 3rd period. The rest of the game was pretty good. It is interesting how the Leafs forwards continually manage to get by the defense at the blue line.

Yeah, the 3rd was a disaster. Just like the game before this one between the two teams.

My view is this: Currently, the Bruins are a better team than the Leafs (even if all of our injured players were in the lineup, this would still be the case). However, the fact that we were able to compete (and even dominate at times during both games) withthe reigning Champs shows that the Leafs are on the right track and are the real deal. A few more pieces, and we can do some damage in the playoffs. Burke's plan is finally starting to show results.

I think the bigger question about Tootoo will be how the jump is perceived-as a maneuver to avoid contact or just another instance of him throwing his body into someone else. However, in this case, I don't think there was intent. He really didnt have anywhere else to go and his only option was to grow wings.

However, as I said earlier-his history of growing wings won't help him and I agree that 2-3 will be a reasonable outcome.

So I guess my sharks decided that they didn't want to paly last night. Our coach basically said in the post game that if they don't want to work then, we can work tomoorw (today). So a planned day off has turned into a bag skate.

@ bruinsrme

no need to commit fanacide-need i remind everyone that Tootoo is also no angel off the site(he cheated on on his then GF Kelli Pickler).

That is clear -- especially the part about the Habs. The beer guy that I go to said that most of them had MA licenses :).

I think you are right about Burke. They have talent and speed. Just need to get it together. There are flashes of greatness clearly.

Agree with all of this. I like the way the coach handled it. Produce now or produce later... there's no easy way out if you are truly a professional at what you do.

Three great games tonight:

Pens - Bs
Caps - Panthers
Tor - Rags

Ill check in from time to time on the other two, but Ill be watching my Cats try and extend that lead against the Caps. Should be a fun game, and I expect it to be a real fast game.

so before everyone complains that buttman got what he wanted (which by all accounts he did), I may need an education, it seems we are going to a system that existed before i was a fan.

My basic understanding is that we are cutting the number of playoff teams in half (16 to 8) and that the top 4 in each play each other. The remaining teams re-seed and the two teams left play for the cup.

A few questions?

1. Are all series best of 7?
2. How do tie-breakers work?
3. How many times does everyone play each other?
4. Does this actually mean we could see a Detroit/San Jose or LA/San Jose Final?

in other words, how did the divisional playoffs work?

I kinda like it. I was really hoping each team would play each other at least 4 times, 2 home/2 away.

Was hoping Detroit would be in the ranks of the flyers, bruins, habs, and pens.

Overall great stuff.

How 'bout them B's

^^^The way that the NHL arranged it makes more sense. *shrug*

Well, some answers. The part about the playoffs wasn't written very well, but I get the gist of what will happen.

The first two rounds will be within each conference. The winners of each conference will then be reseeded so it'll be 1 vs 4, and 2 vs 3. The winners of those two series will play for the Cup.

What are they going to do when Phoenix moves east?

I say: bring back the Norris!:p

I watched the Leafs @ Rangers game tonight.....thanks Google:D. Leafs won 4-2. Why couldn't we play like that against Boston...it was like watching a different team.

So how many total playoff teams(all four conferences combined) -16 or 8?
