Someone please give them a 2012 calendar.

It's February already, time to start sucking the pipe. ;)

I believe their record has actually been better in the second half of the season over the past few years, especially once the playoffs became just a far-reaching hope. The problem has always been that they've tanked the season by Christmas, and were too far gone to catch back up.

This season is different. Although they haven't played well consistently, they had a good start. If they can finish strong as they have been over the past few years, they'll be in the playoffs.

If Reimer is really back to the form we saw last season and at the beginning of this season, it should be a lock.

That oughta be the kiss of death. :)

Yep, I'm back from vacation. I don't have the energy or the will to go back a few pages in the thread and deal with that mess though ;)

you know I'm a "move forward" type of person! :)

So, I'll go with this -- I was definitely nervous going into the B's/Caps game on Sunday given the poor performance for the last 3 games and the completely lack of offense in the last two. The coaching staff did a really good job keeping Chara on Ovechkin which is what made the difference I think. And, the offense finally came to life with some odd line combinations. Hopefully the slide is over...

@Surely-

with the deadline coming up I have to wonder-would Burke try and get one of Anahiem's big three if they were still being shopped? If so, what would you be willing to part with? Kadri? picks? I figure Anahiem has only a handful of options that they can partner with (ie only teams in serious contention in the east) and of those who has the bank. I can also see the Pens being interested if Sid isnt ready. Rangers and Flyers have no bank and no one else has a serious chance to win.

^^^^I haven't heard any rumors about the Leafs and those players specifically, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Burke do something. We need a top center, so that's what he'll be after. Kadri has been up and down all season (and is currently down, I believe), so he could definitely be part of a deal. If Burke can get the right player, I think he'd be willing to give up some picks for him.

Go Leafs!

Watched the Nolan presser today(god he has aged). I really hope he sticks around to help out our team-we can use more guys with guts and courage to mentor those on our team that still dont have it (still am looking at you patty marleau).

Some have said he wasn't the best guy off the ice-I cannot speak to that. But on, he gave his all 100% of the time and wanted to win more than anyone.

He was a very good player, but not good enough for the HHOF. I can't believe he never won a Cup.

I love that the Sabres beat the Bruins 6-0 tonight. Love it.

Big official announcement tomorrow about next season's winter Classic between the Maple Leafs and the Red Wings. As excited as I am for the game and (probably) HBO's 24/7, I'm totally stoked to see the alumni game. I'm sure that most of the players on both teams will be the ones that I grew up watching in the 80's and 90's.

The Alumni game was my favorite part of the Rangers/Flyers game. To see guys like Leetch and Adam Graves on the ice again, along with John VanB - that was so much fun to watch. And forget about Stephane Matteau - loved that guy.

I watched the game in Los Gatos last night and thought the same thing when he came out on the ice. Good to hear that he's staying local. I didn't realize that he was in on the Brittania Arms pubs. I've wasted more than my fair share in those places.

Then to get beat by the flames... ugh.

Bruins looked like dog **** tonight. What an embarrassment.

Of course, getting blown out by the ***** Sabres is worse. What a damn mess. Maybe the guys should stop posting to their facebook pages and attempt to play some freaking defense.

God I am so glad to be moving back to the Detroit Metro area shortly after my 5 year hiatus in Chicago.

This is going to be incredible. It's more than just the classic with the GLI and OHL games being played at Comerica. It's going to be a week long celebration of hockey. I'm having the biggest hockey nerdgasm all day long.

Not really sure about 24/7 though at first glance. Not sure either team really has the personalities that the last teams have had. I'm sure they'll throw something together entertaining in the end.

Best game i've been to in a long time. The big bad bully def took one on the chin tonight :D

Watch out for my Sabres in the second half!!!!

BTW I can't believe this thread has been around for so long and this is the first time I'm seeing it. Huge hockey nerd from Buffalo NY.

Huuuuge win by the Wings tonight against the Ducks to make it 19 straight at home.

Last Wings goalie to win at home in the regular season besides Howard? Also Joey MacDonald -- March 26, 2011. Insanity.

Ducks were 11-2-2 in their last 15 heading into the game. Only downside? Yet another shootout win for the Wings. They were amongst the bottom in league shootout wins until about a month ago. Past month the Wings have picked up 4ish shootout wins, going to 7-1 on the year.

#13 to the rafters tonight. One of the greatest Leafs of all time.

I guess I could post some sort of highlight video, but I love these classics:

I'd love to go to a number retiring ceremony.. it must be so cool. Don't think we will be having any of those in Boston for a long time though.. at least for the Bruins.

#34 in green is going up there in a few years.. I was in the Garden on tuesday to see Pierce pass Larry.. it was awesome.

now back to hockey..

Bruins play the Predators in about an hour. Hopefully they don't **** the bed again today.

Those are some classic commercials. Both hilarious. "Mr. Fancy stick" - oh man, forgot that line haha.

.......or the team didn't give him permission to go

.......or he felt it was more important to stay in Nashville and practice with the team

In other news, you're watching the red carpet coverage of the Grammys. :D:D:D

Grammys... or Wings 20th straight win at home? I'll go with the latter! Entertaining game, fun to watch. Buddy from home was at the game -- so jealous.

I wonder if they can break the record with 21 against Dallas. We'll see.
