.......or the team didn't give him permission to go

.......or he felt it was more important to stay in Nashville and practice with the team

In other news, you're watching the red carpet coverage of the Grammys. :D:D:D

its called channel surfing-I do have some standards-had to do something instead of watching sharks look bored on the first of a 9 game roadie..

I enjoyed watching the Sharks look bored tonight. They weren't too bored to stay out of the box, I don't think I've seen so many 2 man advantages in a single game :p

Nice win by Detroit tonight!

BUT, this is one of those games I love. No one really lost. The game was so well played by the Flyers and the Redwings. Both teams should be proud. Everyone was on fire and doing their best. Congrats to all.

4-1 win for the Panthers against the Islanders yesterday, which followed the Rags taking care of business against the Caps. Four point lead in the division now. I cant wait till Friday, when the Caps visit the Panthers. The season is far from over, but its looking like the Panthers might break that 10 year streak of missing the playoffs!

I'd love to go to a number retiring ceremony.. it must be so cool. Don't think we will be having any of those in Boston for a long time though.. at least for the Bruins.

#34 in green is going up there in a few years.. I was in the Garden on tuesday to see Pierce pass Larry.. it was awesome.

now back to hockey..

Bruins play the Predators in about an hour. Hopefully they don't **** the bed again today.

Went to the Celts that night as well. Pretty memorable. **** the refs that gave a technical for cheering a guy that just beat Bird's record...

Agree -- quite a streak too. After watching the NHL 36 on Lidstrom it's tough to not like that guy... and the fact that he can go out there and grind it out every day at that age.

Shanahan further proves that he is a clueless moron and has no idea what the **** he is doing.

Moore bumps Fedetenko when battling in the slot, Fedetenko hits himself in his face with his own stick, and Moore gets fined for it.

What a crock of ****. Does this guy just spin a wheel and see what it lands on to determine if he is going to fine/suspend someone?

Meanwhile, Nathan Horton has been on his couch for nearly a month with a concussion from a late, high hit by a Flyers AHL goon, and Shanahan felt that play didn't even deserve a review. This guy is ruining hockey.

Have you even seen the replay? It was clearly a cheap shot.

Moore has his back to Fedotenko. Fedotenko skates in to the top of the 19 on the back of Moore's sweater. Sorry but that's Fedotenko's fault. Moore's doing nothing but trying to gain body position and box Fedotenko out. It's not Moore's fault Fedotenko raises up his stick right before the contact and drills himself in the face.

I love the homer announcers in that clip though.

"Fedotenko is defenseless, he didn't see Moore coming." Uhh, his face hit him square in the back, I think he saw him. More like Moore didn't see Fedotenko because his back was to him.

Shanahan explained himself pretty well. Intentional Interference that went wrong.

Why are you getting your knickers in such a twist about another team's player getting fined? Are you paying it for him?

Well, since the theory is that they are trying to make the game better, I think trying to be objective on any of these plays (fan or not) is good for discussion.

I'm 50/50 on this one. From one angle it definitely looks like he got his shoulder/elbow in but from the other angle it doesn't and it just looks like he interfered with the Ranger guy. I didn't see the explanation video - maybe Shanny had more angles to look from. I had a hard time with the roughing call.

Maybe it will slow the Rangers down a bit tonight in Boston :). I'll be there in my usual spot.

Just pointing out how Shanahan has no consistency whatsoever.

Agreed. I love Dominick Moore from his days as a Leaf, but I don't know what he was thinking on that play.

Moore clearly raised his shoulder to make (and brace for) contact with Fedotenko. Whether he actually meant to hit him in the jaw or not is hard to tell (FWIW, I don't think he meant to hit him in the jaw). I think Moore was trying to make it look like he didn't see Fedotenko before the hit, but he knew contact was about to be made. Although Brendon Shanahan's initials are BS :D, I don't have a problem with his call on this play.

Getting back to the Wings/Leafs alumni game. I heard Sundin being interviewed on the radio this morning, and he said that he'll definitely be playing. And so will Börje Salming. He said that the only way they won't play is if they're injured or sick.

I think the goalies will be Potvin, Cujo, and Belfour for the Leafs.

@ Zioxide, thanks for posting that clip. You just further solidified my previous statement. I know it was a cheap shot. I was watching the game as it happened.

Plus, Fedotenko didn't even have the puck. At the very least, it was an interference penalty.

Ooooo, Rick Nash is available. I hope the Leafs can land him!

I remember Feds from the Tampa cup days - and have been watching the current Bolts and Dominic Moore. Neither player seems like that type of guy. Prior to the hit, Moore and Feds were mucking in the corner and I think Moore felt like he was pushed from behind so he retaliated. May have been one of those little bumps that caught him the right way and turned out worse than intended?

I would definitely agree with that.

Now we have a story line for trade time. Do you think Nash is worthy of a blockbuster deal or regular trade-type stuff?

He's blockbuster deal worthy. This guy has been languishing in Columbus for years, and people don't really appreciate how good this guy really is. He stuck it out there as long as he could, and really wanted to be a part of their success. From what I've heard, he's a loyal guy, and is great in the locker room.

He's 27, so he's about to begin the prime of his career. He has 7 years left on a deal he signed before last season (I think that's when he signed it), so any team that gets him won't have to worry about him bolting as a UFA. On the right team, he can be a consistant 40+ goal scorer.

That team is a total mess, and management doesn't know what they're doing. I can totally see them making a horrible trade, and not getting much in return for him. Because they're buffoons.

I wonder if Tampa is gonna go for a goaltender? While they're not really buyers, they shouldn't be sellers either. Too many injuries this year to accurately gauge where they're at. So I'd hate for them to start dishing players.

I heard Yzerman on a radio interview last week.....didn't sound like he's planning on being too active around the deadline. But who knows what might pop up.

Just pointing out how Shanahan has no consistency whatsoever.

Shanahan is way better than Campbell ever was. Even if he isn't consistent, at least he isn't biased like Campbell and he's open and transparent with his videos.

Shanahan is in a lose-lose position. He has a job no one likes and that no one has liked. He tried to make things better by making public his explanations. Now, instead of crying about lack of transparency, people are crying about the decision.

Can't please everyone, won't please everyone.

And the Rangers keep on rolling. Lundqvist is simply amazing.

Yeah he is. The Bruins didn't really help themselves either. I certainly enjoy seeing them lose.:D

No comment on the Leafs.

How about those Red Wings and their record-breaking 21st* straight home win in a row? Amazing, considering they had such a rocky start to the season. I knew they'd pull it together.

* 3 of their home wins were shootout wins. The 1929-30 Boston Bruins and the 1975-76 Philadelphia Flyers, who both hold the record for 20 straight home wins, didn't have the shootout, so if their games went to overtime and no one scored during OT, they would have ended in a tie. Those records are more "pure" IMO.

True, although they did get 42 shots on goal. Our next game is on Thursday vs Chicago. They have 9 straight losses. They are due for a win, and we are due for a loss, having won 4 straight. I hope the Rangers pull it off. I also have a feeling Biron will be starting, giving Hank some rest.

About the Redwings, 21 home wins in a row is simply amazing. Those season ticket holders are sure getting their money's worth.
