You'll get better, don't worry. It'll take a while, but it will happen. You'll have trouble sleeping for a while after you play. It gets your brain running pretty fast.

Ha, thanks Lee!

It was great as I felt like it really challenged me mentally and physically, my bag felt 3 times heavier leaving the rink...

I did look at the goalie a few times and think "that looks such a cool position to play", being that last line of defense appeals to me, but my main thing is to learn the game and just play.

Hopefully I'll be going to a couple of Stick and Puck sessions in the next two weeks, as clinics are off during that time. I'm also gonna get fitted for some better skates, as I'm a big guy and the $50 CCM Rapides may not be stiff enough for me (seem to be on inside edges too much)

Yeah, check that out. I'm a big guy too, 6'3" and 200#. I had a difficult time finding the right equipment. All my stuff is the biggest they make that is legal- 38" pads, 27" stick, you name it. Skates are the most important thing you buy. Do NOT go cheap on them. Buy the best you can afford. You'll be glad you did. I got $500 Reebok 6K's with the pump and I love them. My wallet did not love them, but good skates are important and my feet and ankles love them a lot.

Well, I dropped by Dick's sporting goods and tried on a few skates and even the 'entry level' ones felt so much stiffer than the skates I have (even when I bought them). None of them fitted right though, the Easton's felt shallow on my feet and the CCMs felt great on my heels but too wide on the ankle. I'm going to find an actual hockey shop and try on a load of different boots to see what feels best. I do like the idea of the reebok pumps, but the Easton's felt a lot different. With my skates I'm concentrating on the lateral movement of my ankles, with those, I was just able to stand up straight (knees bent too) and lift a foot in turn and still be balanced ok.

Oh, and what happened to that #noblue campaign? Rangers had another good 3rd period :) hopefully they can keep that going for the next game!

so in the astronomically unlikely scenario that the game goes to quadrouple or Quintuple OT, the clippers game will go to Monday.

but I think the clippers will start their game in plenty of time..

I am just going to throw out there that I played a bit of ice and a lot of inline hockey, and I can say that the best gear I ever used was Easton.Their blades, sticks and shafts were the best by a mile. The rest of the gear was the most comfortable, most reliable best stuff I used. I tried to only buy Easton and only got others when i simply cannot find Easton gear that suits me (which was rare)

I would not recommend Dick's for hockey equipment. You are correct to find a dedicated hockey shop. As far as skates go, try as many as you can to find the right feel. Also, talk to the guys in the shop about them. Sometimes, a skate may not feel right out of the box, but once broken in, are the best for you. My Reebok 6K's felt awful at first. But once I broke them in, I'd never use anything else. I swear by those skates. Something else may be right for you. Just talk to the people at a hockey shop, and they'll give you good advice. Stay away from Dick's. They're not hockey specialists.

Something else I wanted to ask, did you find the guys you played with to be supportive? I'm guessing you did. That's what I love about the game most. When you're new, they help you out so much.

And sorry, but I'm rooting for the Devils. ;)

My kid's new skates "Bauer Total Ones";) Guess who's paying his next two car payments:eek:

Ha, my Red Wings following New York born and bred friend is rooting for the Devils too, he gave me a little stick for wearing a Kreider tshirt, but still wants to go do stick time with me to help me get better on the ice too. I find them blasphemous so could never follo... Yeah, can't do that for too long (not religious one bit). I'll follow my local team though.

They were great, I came on the ice a bit late, as I said before, the coach had me line up ready for the drill and wasn't too worried about me being there late, or that I'd never played hockey and the guys said hi, during the drills they were helping out with passing and during the little game they were great too, they are all fairly new themselves it seems, and they don't have some chip on their shoulder or act like I shouldn't be there.

Had a few laughs that I was English and never played hockey and that was about it.

Definitely with the skates, when I'm fitted for some that fit right and feel better laterally, I'll go with those. The Easton's felt really supportive, but I have high arches and the top of my foot was too high at the corner between foot and ankle. One thing for certain, all of those skates felt so much stiffer, so 6Ks or S12s or Vapours must feel even stiffer!

could never skate Bauers.

was skating 1152's then got a custom fit Custom Tack, tried the crazy lights :D.
Last week I tried the custom tacks. took them out of my bag and placed them next to the other skates on the shelf.

Lee and I don't agree on much but he is correct on spending what you can on equipment.
The more expensive stuff offers much better protection and you will have it for longer, escpecially of you air them out immediately after you skate.

absolutely! this must be a dream.

I am routing for the Rangers to take the cup.

However, their last 2 series is like watching baseball.

I have caught several LA of late and boy do they look good.

Take it all in and enjoy it. If you can afford tickets, even nose bleed, do it. The atmosphere and excitment is unparalled. Regular season games do not compare.

Good luck.

It's a beautiful sunny day, 85F, so of course I'm inside about to watch a hockey game.

I'll probably go to a game if (when) the Kings make the Stanley Cup Finals.

tonight's game was painful... i don't get why the rangers just don't show up to a game. They didn't play in Game 2 and now in Game 4...
I want to know what marty said to Rupp that deserved the shove.
