...and the austrian leagues show how much they are worth yet again... 3.league team FC pasching managed to beat _2_ 1. division squads in the quarter and semi finals. And because their opponent in the final is Austria Vienna (the likely new champion) they will get a spot for next years EURO league playoffs/qualification

Today in De Kuip the home of Feyenoord AZ 67 play PSV for the Beker.

Both teams have had disappointing seasons, PSV have won the Beker 9 times and AZ 3 but the last of those was 31 years ago.

Both teams are at full strength.

My only thought on SAF leaving is he is the last of a generation. What manager today would be given so much time without winning any silverware, at a top club?
His record in English and Scottish football will in all probability never be equaled.

As much as England's hopes of winning anything seem to rest on his shoulders, I have to agree

You mean he's after another pay rise? ;)

Apparent he wants to go to Chelsea. If you're already earning £200k+/week and STILL want more money then...

Rumours of Ronaldo's return to OT still won't die either. But i have to ask why exactly is he going back? SAF will no longer be the manager and there's very little left for him to win there either.

I guess there aren't many teams in the PL that could afford his wages.Chelsea are one, with City being the other, but I can't see City being an option by either party, but you never know...

However, I don't think Fergie would have sold him to any PL rival

I can't see it being a long term ambition of Ronaldo's to play under Moyes so I don't see him going back now

Seems Gill was in Madrid talking with Mendes - unlikely to be re Mourinho. Ronaldo is going back for the apple crumble and custard ;), that and Nike want him in a Nike shirt. SAF - possibly LAF - will be around.

Rooney - if he wants to leave, get the best price. Stuff a pay rise.

Edit - Pretty girls, Pretty boys, Have you ever heard your mommy say, Moyes annoys. It's done - well, the leaving Everton bit. It will be interesting.

Cheers,
OW

Rooney's going to be a tough sell. English players are largely un-exportable and that severely limits Rooney's options. Realistically it's Chelsea or nobody unless he goes to City. City would be fools to buy him because he would not be the kind of successful mercenary that RVP was, and he'd cost more. Maybe PSG? But he'd look like a chump next to Ibra.

Yup. Seems Moyes joining Utd is a formality at this point. Already welcoming him on their FB page. Moyes will be successful especially because he'll be given time and SAF will still be upstairs. But to me once that final whistle blows on the 19th, United automatically become weaker and less dominant.

Unless he goes to Chelsea or PSG (too many egos) or China he'll have to take a paycut. He'd be a good fit at Chelsea who are still looking for a striker but me thinks their priority will be Falcao so they might not be too keen eitherway. Then again a front two of Falcao and Rooney...

Rooney (like Torres) is past his best, very expensive and unlikely to be very popular at Chelsea. Of course, he's still good enough that somebody will snap him up if he leaves Utd.

Well, you can't fault United for a rapid and efficient transition. The challenge now is to make the transition smooth on the pitch as well.

I imagine the Rooney situation will grab the headlines for a while to come.

So...Martinez to Everton then?

Interesting thought...Everton is an attractive proposition in a lot of ways for a prospective manager - but also a big challenge. They don't have a lot of money but fans will that their long tradition of participation in the top flight be maintained. Moyes has held things together, but now what? Martinez might not escape relegation this time either.

The problem is that they are shooting for a Champions league spot but have less money than their competitors. An incoming mananger will want access to more money.

AZ are the new KNVB Beker winners after 31 years.

They beat PSV in De Kuip in Rotterdam by 2 goals to 1.

Adam Maher scored on 12 minutes for AZ, then Jozy Altidor scored on 14 minutes for AZ. PSV were just not playing well nothing was going right.
Jürgen Locadia scored for PSV on 31 minutes, the game then was balanced finely with a lot of possession for both sides but very few scoring chances. The second half was a mid field scrabble for both sides, with again very few chances.

In the end AZ held on to win, overal it was deserved.

Having seen him not do so at one that wasn't, I imagine it must be just super.

I was and still am excited that he played for the Tigers. He was still very raw in those days, and I think the Premier League was maybe a step ahead of his mental game at the time. Maybe it still is. Hull City needed production from him and they didn't get it. I think it was good experience for him though, and I'm sorry he wasn't able to cement a place there. I still hold out hopes that he'll step up to another level eventually. He's got plenty of time left.

Indeed. Martinez may not be too keen on the "Here's 50p, use it to make miracles happen" proposition again, seeing as thats exactly what he's dealt with all these years at Wigan.

Probably a non-league manager at this point. Dean Saunders anyone? I was thinking RDM but i doubt it...he's been spoilt by Chelsea and West Brom. In any event, Everton will still feel the loss of Moyes massively. Personally i think Utd should've opted for Klopp but alas he isn't a Scotsman. Meh.

For once i'm actually excited for the '13/'14 season now. I wonder who will win the league seeing as Utd are no longer a dead cert. Also where will Mr Special end up. Ditto for Rafa. And how will Pep fair. All questions i can't wait to be answered.
