Well 4:1 2010 was maybe the best Germany could get, while the worst England could get. ;)

These were the times!!! Watched it in Barcelona at a friends bar..only English tourists, some Argentinians :)D) and me. I loved it! Nobody of them knew Özil back then.

But really sad how the Catalans celebrated the Spanish victory..

Heh. I predicted a German win that day, although I didn't think the defeat would be quite so heavy. I wouldn't mind but I missed the 5-1 back in 2001... well I say missed it, I saw Carsten Jancker's goal. :D

Anyway, onto more important matters – I believe that tonight Tilpots' Wilmington Hammerheads are contesting the USL Pro Championship match. Good luck to them – and my Jaffatar™ has been pestering me to sort him out with a little Hammers kit to show his support for the lads.

Looking good, Mr. Cakes! The Hammerheads take the pitch at 7:30pm EST. Catch the game live at uslnation.com. Go Hammers!

Well... The Hammers took it on the chin tonight, losing to the Charleston Battery 1-0. They never really got the offense going and lacked quality possessions in the midfield.

Hats off to Charleston, USL Pro Champs. We'll be looking for ya next year!

I saw bits of the game while cooking dinner via their internet feed. Decent crowd at the game and both teams played some good football. The Hammers look sharp in their blue and white stripes. I was rooting for them, but even though you didn't win it's still a big deal to make the final. Well done! :)

Appreciate the support fellas!

Now it's time to refocus on the EPL and hoping the Spurs can get their act together. Dempsey should get on the field this week but I hope Bale let's him know who's team it is. Either way, they need a W badly.

On the subject of Dempsey, this was brought to my attention earlier...

Anyone want to tell me what's wrong with that shirt? :D

It's Deuce's team now, bitch!

JK... :D

Yep – 2 is a right back's number, the boy Dempsey is obviously an attack minded player. This is like defender William Gallas wearing 10 all over again...

I wondered about that. Does the numbering system still apply these days? I mean 100% true to original form?

Well, cup keeper Carlo Cudicini is on Clint's favored No. 23, so they offered Deuce at least half his old number I guess. Dempsey doesn't come across to me as a person who takes the slightest interest in the traditional squad numbering system, however interesting we may find it.

Saw it on espn last night, then hours later Fellaini denied ever saying such on his Facebook page.

I have heard that he has not denied the statement, but he's come out and made another statement saying he's happy in Liverpool and wants to focus on "reach[ing] our goals of the season". So he's neither denied nor confirmed the initial statement. Clear as mud, but the implication appears to be that Fellaini is looking for greener pastures.

It says in the article that he denied it his Facebook page but it wasnt a straight out "their lying" type denial, either way I don't think he will be leaving Everton this season unless crazy money is offered in the January window. If he was hell bent on moving he shouldnt of signed a 5 year extension last season. IMO.

The thing is, contracts are almost meaningless in terms of guaranteeing that a player will stay with a team. Pretty much all they determine is whether a player moves on a free or commands a transfer fee. By getting him to ink a deal Everton have at least guaranteed that they won't be under pressure to sell him in order to avoid having him go away on a free.

Louis van Gaal, looks like he is going to leave Heitinga on the bench for tonights match against Hungary. Maarten Stekelenburg returns to goal, because Tim Krul is injured. Two new players are called up, Ron Vlaar and Ricardo van Rijn.
Louis van Gaal has said that he expects a very different match, from the game against Turkey last week. Hungary he has said are going to be more defensive and the chances when they come will have to be taken.

First clubs fell 'victim' to the FFP, that's the good part.

The most prominent clubs are Atlético Madrid, CF Málaga and Fenerbahçe Istanbul.

Here's a complete listing, seems like the smaller clubs don't play fair, eh? FK Banja Luka, FK Sarajevo, FC Zeljeznicar, ZSKA Sofia, Hajduk Split, NK Osijek, Maccabi Netanya, FK Shkendija, FC Floriana, FC Podgorica, FC Rudar Pjevlja, Ruch Chorzów, Sporting Lissabon, Dinamo Bukarest, Rapid Bukarest, FC Vaslui, Rubin Kasan, Partizan Belgrad, FC Vojvodina Novi Sad, Eskisehirspor.

Shame on You!

I'm sure they missed some though, where's Hertha BSC for example??!

I think it's more a case of smaller clubs being much easier to punish. Until I see the top clubs either cutting spending or being punished for not doing so, I'm not much impressed.

Yup. Maybe I should have added an smiley as I completely agree with you. My post wasn't meant so serious - sorry, thought that would be obvious.

No, I caught your drift. I think it just bears repeating. ;) The little guys will feel the full weight of FFL - but when will it be used against the big boys?

Austria is giving Germany a rather hard time right now. Wonder if they can keep the pace over the whole game time. Hopefully not.
