I dunno, but I'd take Carlos Bocanegra over him any day. ;) He's faster, just as experienced and is also good in the air. Much better looking too. And of course not a liar, bounder, and cad like BJT.

Looks? Ladykiller Terry? The rest of us are jealous. :):

Cheers,
OW

Tough loss for Everton against Leeds in the Carling er Capital One Cup. But on to more pressing matters for Everton.

Our senior team is still struggling to get results but I continue to be impressed with the kind of football Brendan Rogers wants Liverpool to play - and then youngsters seem to be picking it up faster (old dogs, new tricks etc etc). Given time I think he could build something truly great. I think Liverpool fans have a season or two of anonymous results ahead of them, but I'm willing to sit back and let Rogers work.

No official word but i'm guessing yes. Thanks to the Rodgers-Mourinho special relationship.

I haven't heard anything, and I imagine that the full terms of the loan have not been disclosed. I'm sure Rogers would like to have the option to buy him though.

OT but because I thought it impossible and here's a fair amount of British users:

Spotted a heap of earnest looking Brits in Lederhosen :eek:
They weren't even drunk: is this the beginning of a new uncanny era?!

Meanwhile, our favourite lionhearted defender will need to muster all of his legendary bravery and courage – John 'JT' Terry has been handed a four match ban and £220,000 fine.

With all this media coverage I noticed that your legendary JT looks even dumber wearing a suit. Not that I want to ridicule your hero..but really.

That's amazing. :D If any of you have ever read Jerome K. Jerome's delightful Three Men on the Bummel, you'll know that Englishmen have been hilariously mis-dressing for Germany since the Victorian Era.

Those leather shorts can be awfully chaffing. So I hear, like. :eek:

Meanwhile, our favourite lionhearted defender will need to muster all of his legendary bravery and courage – John 'JT' Terry has been handed a four match ban and £220,000 fine.

Now here's a puzzle:

The FA said:
"Mr Suárez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);

"the insulting words used by Mr Suárez included a reference to Mr Evra's colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);

"Mr Suárez shall be warned as to his future conduct, be suspended for eight matches covering all first-team competitive matches and fined the sum of £40,000;

The FA said:
The Football Association charged Mr Terry on Friday 27 July 2012 with using abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards Queens Park Rangers' Anton Ferdinand and which included a reference to colour and/or race contrary to FA Rule E3[2] in relation to the Queens Park Rangers FC versus Chelsea FC fixture at Loftus Road on 23 October 2011.

<snip>

The decision of the Independent Regulatory Commission is as follows:

::Mr Terry be suspended from all domestic club football until such time as Chelsea's First Team have completed four competitive matches

::Fined the sum of £220,000

This is just idiocy. Why the differential treatment? I think 8 games versus 4 is a much tougher punishment, never mind the money (the games hurt the team, the money hurts the player, but Terry makes much more than Suarez so the net effect is probably small in financial terms. But Liverpool lost their player for twice as long as Chelsea will?). Their transgressions were nearly identical (Suarez used the term "negro", Terry the term "black"), and their manner of defense was almost identical "Yes I said it, but it's not what you think!".

Why would the FA set a precedent with the Suarez case and then promptly deviate from it in an almost identical case? 4 games is a huge difference.

By the way, I am not contesting Suarez's punishment, he behaved stupidly and paid the price for that. But given that the charges and nature of the offense are nearly identical, why is the punishment so different? Or rather, what is their reasoning for the difference? The FA have now opened themselves to a charge of xenophobia and you can bet that many foreign players and fans may interperet it as such. Brave John Terry gets a 4 game ban for racism, while Hated Buck-Toothed Johnny Foreigner gets an 8 game ban for essentially the same offense. Hmmm. :rolleyes:

Got the penguin classic for two pounds right now..the titel alone is totally worth it.
I just love randomly getting great stuff recommended by total strangers via the internet

But the Lederhosen/Dirndl thing is a great nuisance to me. Had to do some business within a bigger firm today (40.000 employers worldwide) and they were ALL running around like that in the office...was hard not to laugh out loud but for christ's sake...and now even the British gentlemen...a world in decline.

And about the FA: yeah, :(
unfortunately we all know these blatant inconsistencies just too well...

One difference though between Suarez and Terry is that the latter's offence related to one incident during the game, the former's occurred on a number of occasions as the match went on – the FA has said on this, ""Given the number of times that Mr Suárez used the word 'negro', his conduct is significantly more serious than a one-off use of a racially offensive term and amounts to an aggravating factor".

Anyway, they're a right pair of tits.

Good point. The difference in punishments still seems pretty arbitrary to me, but there is no denying both guilty parties have only themselves to blame. I just wish I had more confidence in the FA's ability to send the right message. So far they seem pretty clueless.

There is no consistency in Football period. And i doubt there ever will be. At the end of the day it'll come down to how much money and status you have to offer.

I still chuckle when I think of the sign held up at PPL Park in Philly when Chelsea played there. "John Terry is a good guy said no one ever"

Because as a native Greek speaker, I can tell you what the literal translation for the word "malakas" is and what it means if used in every day conversation

Ok so it means black. Thank you. Does it mean anything else in or out of context in the language that it was used?

What do you mean? I didn't follow the Suarez-Channel too much back then, but when standing in front of a black guy/girl and shouting angrily negrito/negrita several times it sure isn't exactly nice, to say the least. We all know how that's ment, but why anybody does such a thing in the first place is nevertheless way beyond me. Must be stupidity or hatred or both.
