I hope you guys don't mind me talking about this, I know women's football is not considered football. :D but I find the development interesting.

I think its a big deal, and there is a lot of room for growth in the womens' game. I doubt that women's' professional league will ever approach the level of the men's leagues in terms of viewership or money - but the women's World Cup and Olympics have a lot of potential.

I know it is very unlikely to happen, but would actually appreciate it if they would shrink the field about 10-15% or so. Every time I watch it, it looks like the game as such would vastly benefit from that.

Same here in Germany, 1. Bundesliga women's matches are spread over the season very loosely (not to say, that the quality is varying vastly, though getting more consistent at least under the first 5, but the 2. Bundesliga is like village niveau).
Along the match yesterday, I heard that the US is building up a League for next year, while most players are playing in college teams.

i think it is football and it would great if the ladies would/could have an equally decent league to spotlight their talents in.

p.s. US Women's Nat. Team is the best team in the USA.

Racism

Dock points for racism proclaims Stoke's Asmir Begovic. Although I don't know the man's politics (and being Bosnian, we can't exclude ulterior motives), I can't help agreeing with him...

One good bit of news – the little scumbag was quickly and very publicly identified, his name is currently all over Twitter. Hopefully he'll be getting a knock on his door in the morning from the local constabulary.

Arrested Sunday in Cheltenham. Probably thought he'd get away with it by going in to hiding as a Man U fan ;)

Just announced:
Leeds Utd fan Aaron Cawley jailed for 16 weeks for hitting Sheffield Wednesday footballer Chris Kirkland. Details soon...

Presumably a lifetime ban from any ground in the country too, I hope!

Do you guys remember (I think last years) accident in the Netherlands (?) where a Keeper got attacked on the pitch and actually kicked the **** out of the 'fan'??

He already had a banning order imposed on him though, so Leeds and Wednesday (as well as the police) will need to look at how he was able to get a ticket and gain access to the ground.

Also – a couple of days ago, that bloke who swam in the way of the boat race got six months. Invading the pitch and assaulting a player gets you only four? I suppose no posh sorts had their day disturbed at Hillsborough, though.

I do – I think it was the AZ Alkmaar 'keeper, and the fallout led to the game being abandoned? I'm sure Happybunny can correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Hi JC you are 100% correct.
Here is a video of the incident. AZ players left the field because they disagreed with the red card given to the keeper. The referee gave the card because of the guide lines from the KNVB, later that same week the red card was made void by the KNVB, the game was played over at a later date.

I had the pleasure of watching the women's football at the Olympics, entire family got to watch two games for £45, great value. The games were highly entertaining too, only dissapointment was they didn't swap shirts at the end.

Hearts haven't paid their players on time for the 6th time this year, ironic seeing as their shirt sponsors are Wonga.

I'd keep an eye on that number 8, he looks like he could be a liability. ;) Well done for making the play-offs though!

On a sporting note, our new five-a-side season kicked off tonight. We lost (of course :p) but yours truly managed to get on the scoresheet with a mad lash at the ball that somehow went in off the crossbar and post. I'm not under any illusions, that's me done for the season. :D

Pleasingly we (finally!) have an actual proper kit on order, so hopefully soon we'll be looking as sharp as pachyderm and his hooped chums.

Great stuff! Haven't found a proper team here in Munich until now....miss all these scruffy cages from Berlin (well, except my knees, ahem).

Makes me wonder how he looks after I nutmegged him though?!

We had some dames in our cage-fight teams as well sometimes....they can be tough game, honestly.

Even more puzzling, number 1 isn't a goalkeeper?

His kit came without a number. we used tape to make it and of course what is the easiest number to make with tape? 1.

Was just thinking that... if I was one-on-one with the keeper he can have it.

Hang on... number 12 is a girl:confused:

he is pre-op. he'll be a girl in about a month... :p

yes "he" is a girl! it is a co-ed league. ;)
