As much as i hate to admit it, Spurs are looking like the real London team this season. Been the most consisted of all of them. AVB has done a good job despite injuries.

Spurs played a fantastic game of football, against a normally formidable opponent, they made it look easy.

10min. to got to Algarve Cup Women's: Germany vs Japan
- the match against Denmark was by the way not worth watching. As if both teams were there for a light afternoon training session.
This evening Sweden vs Island:
- this is a strong team, Sweden (with their second goal keeper as a replacement for their injured first, who I always found a bit of a weakness in the team) versus a team that is clearly inferior, Island.
While in men's football you can be entertained and surprised by weaker teams winnign though against a big team, I guess in women's football there are no surprises. The only interesting thing will be, if Island just disturbs the game or, if this will just be a showcase for Sweden to giving them the chance to elaborate more technique (as there is normally less shown by Sweden.

On PSG vs Valencia two days ago:
- would it have changed something, if Valencia had played earlier like they did in the last 15 Minutes? Or, if Valdez would have been brought earlier?

Spurs looked very good, but they really needed that third goal and a fourth would not have been amiss - they won't have Bale for the return leg and that really reduces their chance of snatching a crucial away goal so they need all the cushion they can get.

Clint Dempsey has been out injured lately, I hope he can slot back into the team and contribute to their good form.

He had a stinker in the first leg, ill for QPR - came on but didn't look fit for a pub team, and had good moments v Norwich City. Fitness/form + Welbeck playing well and having done a marking job before + impact as a sub/eye on extra time, seems reasonable but doesn't sell papers/fill 24 hour news

Yes, I can see him remaining at at the club for at least another contract cycle. Rooney never quite reached the level that many thought he would, but he's still a very good player and he's not that old. If he left I would be surprised, especially since it would mean taking a big pay cut.

Though, City may need another striker if Tevez ends up in jail.

Heh. I would think losing a striker will actually make Mancini's job easier since there will be less need to bench players.

But less easier for blaming a strawman...

I actually hope Dzeko finds his way to Dortmund. Not likely, but not impossible either.

It sounds like the Dzeko move is definitely possible, but far from certain.

I would also like to point out that Bale has barely caught any heat for his flagrant dive yesterday, even though it got him suspended for a big European match. Imagine the uproar if that had been Suarez. Yet another British player getting a free pass on diving.

A little enjoyable aside, and something I'm sure we can all agree on – this is bloody brilliant.

The kit geeks amongst us should strap themselves in before clicking that link.

And Everton is getting waxed by Wigan in the FA as we speak. Already down 3-0. At least Oldham would of put up more fight against Wigan.

Definitely an upset result. Moyes will be livid.

QPR and ASton Villa are both winning as I write, some major relegation battles playing out here.

If 'Arry keeps QPR up it will be proof that evil is mightier than good.

A shock result in MLS as league title hopefuls Kansas City are beaten by the usually hapless Toronto FC 2-1. Both of Toronto's goals came on major defensive blunders from KC.

Results Dutch Football this weekend.

Saturday

Herenveen 2 vs PSV 1
PSV should have walked this on paper, unlucky for them they played on grass. Herenveen scored twice before PSV even woke up.

Willem II 1 Vs VVV Venlo 0
Willem II won this bottom of the table match, it will be remembered for the numerous missed chances.

Sunday

Roda JC 0 vs Feyenoord 1
Feyenoord got a very important win away from home and stay in the title race.

Ajax 3 vs PEC Zwolle 0
Ajax's home form improved this match, a very important win.

Ajax are now top of the Eredivisie tonight 1 point separates the top three teams.

One of Liverpool's best performances of the season, albeit far from perfect. Spurs won the midfield battle and had the edge in pace. But Liverpool kept their work rate up and operated well as a unit. Enrique had one of his good days, and Brad Jones was good enough to get the job done in the end. Coutinho continues to impress. Between he and Sturridge we now have enough attacking players to present a proper threat alongside Luis.

Suarez continues in excellent form. He could score 20 more goals and he still wouldn't get voted POY though.

Interesting result at Old Trafford. I though Man Utd were going to cruise through at first. A 2007-vintage Torres would have iced it for Chelsea, but as it stands a good fightback. Mata is superb.

The only really close title battle in Europe at the moment, though Serie A is still very much up the air too.

Chelsea the big winners this weekend...now only 2pts behind Spurs with a game in hand. Also still in with a shout for FA semis. Everton on the other hand the big losers, potential FA Cup final gone and have been usurped by their rivals in the League.

Really glad Spurs were pegged back today. Now hoping Chelsea, Everton, Stoke and City amongst others do similar damage :D

At least he looks on course for the Golden Boot.

My brother's report of the Liverpool v Spurs game:

Walker and Defoe are bleeping bleepwits, and Lloris is a bleep - though bleep isn't what he used. He also said AVB played into the opponent's hands putting Dembele wide; taking him out of the middle and at the same time giving Liverpool's left very little to think about.

As for Manchester United; Tuesday took more out of them than Thursday did from Chelsea.

Ferdinand needs a ban to remind him of his place.

LB,

Rooney - heading and passing have improved, but driving at players/putting fear into them has gone backward.

Imagine Suarez - my psychiatrist has warned me against it. :) Though he's going into a fantasy team I co-manage - cough, cough. That'll be his form sorted.

Cheers,
OW

boo.

i'd vote for him as POY

I forgot to mention that FC Twente again failed to win. They have now slipped to 6th in the table 10 points from the leaders.
What is more worrying for them is that they are not playing well, since the winter stop they have sucked big time.
Unlike both Herenveen and Willem II who play great football but are unlucky.

Pretty standard stuff. But why is it better to dump him now rather than in the summer when more candidates will surely be available to replace him?

...but I could ask the same question about any mid-season sacking. Maybe they already have someone in mind.

Now we know why goalkeepers wear gloves.

The slow-motion replays were brilliant. :D

EDIT: Looks like Di Canio is being reported as a potential replacement for McDermott at Reading. The potential entertainment value is very high there...as is the potential for Joe F. Kinnear-like meltdowns...and his only managerial experience is with a League Two club. Gamble.
