So - has anyone named any of their children after a baseball player? We are about to have our third boy this month and like unique names (our 3 year old is named Shepard and our 1 year old is named Fisher).

We have several girl names but didn't have any boys names we could decide on. Being Rangers fans, we recently decided to go with the name Kinsler - after Ian Kinsler. I'm actually surprised that my wife agreed - but she is just as much if not more of a baseball fan than I am.

My son is named Gehrig. He actually has a twin sister whom I tried to name Ruth :p but my girlfriend was having none of that. They're 5 and every time we watch the Yankees together he always asks which one Lou Gehrig is. :D

Looks like it's going to be down to the last regular game of the season for the Cards again..... and they don't seem to have the magic they did last year....

You should name him Freese so one day he might grow up to be awesome :p

Ibanez has been clutch for the Yanks this season. Still one game ahead of the O's. At least we're guaranteed for a one game tiebreaker and we can lose tomorrow's game as long as the O's lose as well.

You really would have saddled her with Ruth? The humanity. :p And awww.

Personally, I've always liked the name Jacoby. :)

Hopefully the Rangers lose tonight so we will have the best record in the AL.

And hopefully the Nats win tomorrow making Philly a .500 team for the season( I seriously can't believe they made it back to .500). :D

Thank you San Francisco!

You are welcome, but you won't be happy when we come beating you guys soon! ;)

Reds and Nationals, who looked brilliant here and there, both seem to be showing some vulnerabilities but some division leaders slack when they clinched already. I think the Wild Card teams who get through may be a real threat since there's less to lose.

While the Giants won their division, they are not the expected ones as much as Reds, and especially not as much as the Nationals so the pressure isn't as bad as if they are to top NL team coming into postseason. The Nationals have the Cinderella thing where now everybody expects them to have a happy ending. That type of nagging pressure is not welcome to any team.

Good luck in your Wild Card game!

Holy crap. Oakland looks to win the AL west unless the rangers can mount a comeback. And Texas postseason hopes would depend on the wild card game against the O's or Yanks.

The Yankees may have bent, but they never broke. AL East champions. :D

Now the Rangers bent and broke as the A's won the West.

I have no disdain for any MLB team, other than the Yankees. But, that went out the door after the Nationals locked up their division. As a D.C. fan I hate the Flyers, Pirates, Steelers, Eagles, Bruins, Devils, Pirates, etc. etc.

I was expecting the Nationals to be around .500 this year.

I mean, I'm living in ecstasy at the moment.

What an amazing season by Miguel Cabrera.

The Bobby Valentine experiment is over, thankfully. After dumping all that payroll on the Dodgers and securing the #7 pick, we have loads of flexibility and hopefully, a chance to turn it around quickly.

For now, I'll be rooting for Baltimore and Oakland. ;)

yes!

There is hope for 2013 after all.. maybe. :p

Let's hope they can do a better job this offseason of finding a manager, because the search last year was a huge cluster ****.

I hear Ozzie might be available..... ;)

Predictions?

I'm going to say Cardinals over Braves, although I want the Braves to win.

Orioles over Rangers. They have so much freakin' energy right now it's unbelievable. And they have the momentum.
