Man, players are dropping like flies the past few days. (SNIP)

As far as the Pats are concerned, I dont know how some think they are a lock to win the division. Yes, they should be the favorites because of their history, but Miami is going to make a run at them this year, and beyond. They are young, talented, and added a lot of speed this offseason. (SNIP)

Don't forget about the season ending ACL injury to Jeremy Maclin.

As for the Dolphins, I think they will definitely be much improved this year, but I'm not buying the hype about Mike Wallace until I see him put in the work and see some chemistry develop between he and Tannehill. The early reports out of camp are that he is not doing the work needed and that he and the 2nd year QB are not on the same page. He had a great year in Pittsburgh a few seasons back, but then after that he seemed to be a little "full of himself" and became more reliant upon his natural ability as opposed to putting in the needed time and work. Wallace definitely has the potential to be one of the best WR's in the NFL, but when people start talking about a players potential that often is a negative in that it means they are not doing what it takes to be the best in all areas of their game.

I'm getting excited about the season coming up though. As many of you already know, that also means the MR NFL Fantasy Football league will be starting up again too. Be on the lookout for a thread in the near future. :D

Maclin is just so unlucky. Dude had a great start to his career, but he cannot stay on the field. Whats funny about he and Pitta is the fact that both are entering the final year of their contracts.

Wallace and Tannehill have been working at it since the Fins signed him, so I doubt that is going to be an issue. What concerns me more is Tannehill. He has a hell of an arm, and throws a great deep ball, but his decision making needs to improve. He doesnt read through his progression, and tends to check down a lot. There were a lot of plays to be made in the second level last year, but he was hesitant to take that chance, and went to the check down. He has the arm to make every throw an elite QB needs to make, and now he just needs to take those chances.

As far as Wallace is concerned, he has been great the past few days. He had a couple of big plays during 7-on-7s and 11-on-11s the past few days, which would have all resulted in long TDs. I think he is more than a one trick pony, and he will prove that this season. His numbers might not be like some might expect, but he is going to open up the rest of the field for guys like Keller, Hartline, Gibson, and Miller, because he will demand safety help. They wont have the top offense in the league, but they are going to put up more points than any Fins team has in a long time, and that is going to help out the defense a lot.

Regarding the fantasy football, you might as well add me to your list now.

I want to feel good about the Texans this year but Dre isn't getting any younger and we still don't have a legitimate 2 receiver, plus Schaub is iffy in big games and our secondary outside Jonathan Joseph is still garbage. We definitely need some of the younger guys to step up and for the love of god will somebody please relieve Kubiak of all play calling duties. Predictable play action is not gonna get it done this year.

If there are any open spots for FF, I'm game.

I'm legitimately interested in seeing if Hopkins can handle being a #2 as a rookie. There really aren't many options and so far they love his hands.

Defensively, they seemed to fall apart after Cush got hurt. And after Joseph got hurt, it seemed like the team had regressed to pre Wade Phillips. Even after he came back, you could tell he wasn't the same player. Jackson was decent, but their defense has to play well if they want to be at the top of the AFC.

And I know they love blaming Schaub here, but the offense didn't lose to the Patriots, their defense did. They wouldn't have been able to stop them if they had a shotgun. It was ugly.

Offensively, I agree with you. I could call a better game than Kubiak. And it's not just the predictable play actions and bootlegs - he is just way too conservative. How many times in the red zone did they run on 2nd and 3rd and long? It was extremely frustrating. Schaub isn't Tom Brady, but you have to have confidence in him. They have a RB that can catch passes as well as a TE that is dependable. Try something. I felt like they gave up on a lot of drives.

This. All the Patriots did was neutralize JJ Watt and the rest was easy. One guy can't play defense for 10 other guys. Losing Cushing (even though it was early in the season and they had time to prepare without him) was a huge blow, he's one of their best playmakers along with Watt. They need both of those guys to stay healthy and have big years. If a couple other defenders can step up at the key times in big games and make some plays, they could be good.

Take it from someone who watched the early-2000s Patriots defense dominate the record-breaking Colts offense, then the late 2000s Patriots record-breaking offense get beaten by the Giants shutdown defense... you win championships with defense, not offense. It's might be a cliche.. but it's also fact.

What the Texans really need is another solid pass rusher to rush the opposite side of Watt. Teams like the Patriots just double-teamed Watt and then they were able to protect Brady fine. The Giants had at least 2 guys who were elite pass rushers, that's how they beat the Patriots. The Colts did the same thing in the 06 AFCCG with Freeney and Mathis. And this doesn't just apply to the Patriots or Texans.. this is any team. If your defense can consistently pressure the QB, you'll put yourself in a position to win.

I'd be open to joining a FF league from MR if available. My ESPN draft sucked and I won't be able to win the championship again.

With that said the Seahawks are gonna be a team to beat this year. Great receivers and the secondary is supreme.

I agree pretty much with everything. Their entire game plan centered around neutralizing JJ Swatt. Antonino Smith normally brings that extra push and we relied too much on Merciless who was still learning the role, so the Cush injury was really hard felt. I think with Cush back and also Brooks Reed and Merciless with another year under his belt we just need a few more role players on the d line. Like a solid nose tackle to eat up blockers.

As far as the the secondary, Ice Kareem did improve but we lost Glover Quinn and the Ed reed signing looks good on paper but I'm definitely not expecting much. I guess it's gonna take for a lot of these guys to stay healthy for them to perform as an elite unit.

Wholeheartedly agree. Kubiak is horrendous when it comes to play calling. I believe a few years back schaub wasn't even able to audible his own plays. He had a pre determined set of plays he was allowed to run and that was it. I don't know if it's still like that but you would think with Kubiak being a QBs guru, he'd have more faith in his signal caller.

yeah. sloppy and dreadful from both teams.

BUT - the new Miami Dolphins uniform isn't completely horrible, except the actual dolphin on the helmet I really like what they've done.

lol. yeah, me too. sorry had to laugh. but yeah i completely agree.

new one looks like a guppy to me.. but the rest of the uni looks pretty good. got the color blue right.

Is it me or are players dropping like flies in training camps?

As for MR FF, I'm in.

And the rash of injuries in training camp continues:

Bryan Bulaga, LT Packers (ACL) - This one is a huge blow for the Packers. They already have a questionable o-line.

Dennis Pitta, TE Ravens (hip) - Their #1 tight end.

Dan Koppen, C Broncos (ACL) - Veteran guy they will miss.

Chris Culliver, CB 49ers (ACL) - Out for the year.

Patrick Willis, LB 49ers (hand) - Fractured hand, will probably play with it.

Off to Foxboro to bubble wrap the Patriots..
