Rather than move the spot back, why not just line the spot up with the TD as much as possible? If the wideout catches the ball in the corner, spot the snap 6 yards in from the sideline. A steep-angle kick might be a little less automatic.

If they got rid of the PAT wouldn't that sort of negate the 2 point conversion ?

How would you get a 2 point conversion if the TD gave you 7 points ?

A one point conversion ?

the proposal was to make a touchdown worth 7 points.

if you want to go for a 2 point conversion and you make it then you get 8 points

but if you go for 2 and miss it then your touchdown is only 6 points.

That's the proposal ? wow. Dumb idea.

In essence it's a one point conversion with a point taken away if you don't get the one point conversion.

Agreed, it is pretty dumb. If Goodell really wants to change the extra point he should do away with the kick, keep the touchdown 6 points, and make the attempt a pass/run for 2 points.

It doesn't negate it. If you score a touchdown, you get 7 points. If you go for a 2-point conversion, and make it, you get 8 points, but if you don't convert, you lose a point and end up only with 6 points.

That being said, I'd like to see them move it farther back instead of the chip shot it is now.

Edit: didn't see the 70th page of this thread; everyone already beat me to this heh

yeah that small sound bite doesn't really change anything, He's still an arrogant D-bag. I mean he is exremely talented but god bless you seattle folks for having to cheer for that guy.

he he he

i'm going to write off lot of what sherman said to rashness based on the fact that he was probably hyped up, just a bit, from just playing in, and winning, a very big game. also he did have a very big role in the game winning play.

that said it was a bit over the top. and, yes, i initially did have knee jerk reaction to his actions too.

all is forgiven. let's play the SB already.

"Hell of a game, hell of a game"
to me actually looked sincere as much as I hate the Seahawks (the only pro team I don't like in any sport).

You know the guy (Sherman) kicks sand in your face but from his body language when Crabtree pushed him shows that Sherman was clearly puzzled. I don't think Sherman was showboating but more ecstatic for the win and wanted to congratulate Crabtree for a hard fought game. The Seahawks came from behind and won it and barely stopped Kap's last pass so it was a good game. Kap is close to the most dangerous QB when it's the 4th and can make passes even when he didn't before and this was the case. He was passing down the field and looked to be able to easily finish this drive. Sherman stopped him and any corner would be totally thrilled and deserves some time to celebrate.

Now if the Seahawks won by two touchdowns and completely shut the Niners out of the game, then it could be argued Sherman was picking on Crabtree.

Guilty of Intoxication Manslaughter = 180 days in jail

Drive with a BAC over two times the legal limit and kill someone and all you get is 180 days in jail, 10 years of probation, and a $10,000 fine. That is pathetic.

Former Dallas Cowboys player Josh Brent avoided prison Friday and instead was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years of probation for a drunken car crash that killed his friend and teammate, Jerry Brown.

Brent was convicted Wednesday of intoxication manslaughter for the December 2012 crash on a suburban Dallas highway that killed Brown, who was a passenger in Brent's car. Brent could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. He was also fined $10,000.

What makes this even worse is that this isn't Brent's first drunk driving conviction.

The judge also mentioned Brent's 2009 drunken-driving conviction in Illinois, which the prosecution revisited in making its case for prison time.

I also found this part to be pretty interesting.

Prosecutors were pushing for prison time for Brent, whose trial came weeks after a teenage boy in neighboring Tarrant County received no prison time for an intoxication manslaughter conviction in a drunken crash that killed four people. In that case, a defense expert argued that the teen deserved leniency because his parents had coddled him into a sense of irresponsibility -- a condition the expert termed "affluenza."

And Sherman's the jerk..

I think he's probably a combination of a misunderstood player with a lot of passion who was made to look bad in Niners-Seahawks game but can also be a jerk, too. After seeing the earlier footage of what was perhaps a sincere gesture to Crabtree, I give him the benefit of the doubt. The in your face tirade Sherman made in front of Tom Brady was simply being a jerk. I don't know too many people who can see that Sherman was anything other than a jerk.

The difference between Brady and Sherman, and yes they are both winners and good and all at football, is that if you beat Brady, he gets ready and learns from his mistakes and beats you next time out. Sherman, on the other hand, may make some jerk like statement or action, and then try to back it up later. Obviously both approaches have worked and that's where Brady and Sherman are different but at the end of the day, the casual observer is left with a bad taste in their mouth from Sherman's approach.

We should call Sherman the Sherman Tank from now on due to his lack of subtlety. Sherman may very well back up his bravado on Sunday, which I think will further showcase his talent, but the public will grow tired of his ego very soon. "I am the best corner in the game!" is not a way to conduct an interview.

Perhaps had Brady not walked up to the Seattle sideline pre-game and asked who they were Sherman wouldn't have said that to him. And Brady did ask him to come see him after he ( the patriots ) won the game.

That's taunting on Brady's part.

Sherman could see it that way.

Brady is under scrutiny unlike anybody else in the league since he is along with Peyton Manning are the senior ambassadors to the sport as well as its best players. It's not Brady's MO to taunt anybody.

What ? You are joking right ?

Seattle is playing the Patriots. In their uniforms and Brady walks up and asks who they are ? You have got to be kidding me.

Then he says come and see him after the patriots win the game ?

Seattle wins and Sherman goes up to him just like Brady asks.

Then he asks him "You mad bro" ?

Brady deserved it. He may be all shiny teeth in front of the TV but he's a complete ass on the sideline.

Who cusses out their own team mates.

Brady does.

I'm not defending Sherman. He is young and stupid with his mouth.
I will say at least he has the gonads to speak his mind in front of the camera. Not hide behind some fantasy personality.

Trash talking in the game is a bit different than going on in an interview and saying a receiver is "sorry" and all the other junk he said. Come on, you're really trying to equate typical game trash talk to what Sherman did? You're really reaching.

Going on an interview ? He was literally yanked in front of a camera seconds after making a great play that put his team in the Super Bowl .

Fox could have at least given the guy a few minutes to mellow out.

And Brady can put it where the sun don't shine. His soul.

He, he, I can't believe I agree with you but I do on this one. ;)

Anyway, I think every football player given time will lose their temper and it will be caught on film. That's sports, and especially the NFL. But with all the ups and downs Brady has been through, and all those close 4th quarter comebacks, well that type of stress is definitely going to get you fired up. With a decade and a half on the team you are also seen as a leader much like any offensive or defensive coordinator is and you have to rally the troops. So Brady gets criticized when he does it but the offensive coordinator is expected to be an ass kicker? I don't get it. I would want my QB of that stature and that many years to be passionate. If you aren't fired up you may lose that edge. But Brady has never called anybody a "sorry ass receiver/player" on national TV. Sherman crosses the line from fired up to simply being a bully and I hope he matures into a more focused player putting his energy on the field, not on reporters.

With the interview debacle in the Niners-Seahawks game I think Sherman will think twice the next time a reporter pulls him over, even if it's literally seconds after a big play.

Now he knows how pissed off America got when he made those comments and it didn't help that it was a heated game with Seattle's biggest NFL rival. I think with his rant against Crabtree, people on the fence with no team loyalty either way decided right then to root for the Broncos next Sunday.

In a way I feel sorry for Seattle because the team has so many great weapons on both offense and defense who have worked so hard all year to get to the big game, but the media is going to focus most on Sherman when covering the Seahawks. I think it will be unwanted attention and I can't think of too many players who want that extra baggage in a fast sixty minute game.

Those racists who chimed in totally made this thing terrible.

I think while it was hard for me to hear Sherman right after the Seahawks whooped my team, it was harder to see all the racist comments Sherman detractors typed out on blogs and forums.

I know even Sherman was shocked and even he knew it was in the context of football, but football is still just a game. The racists who attacked Sherman, and who threatened his life, are the type of people who pull off racially motivated attacks. It's really sickening. I know the Super Bowl will have extra security because there are some real psychos out there.

Wow. Just when I thought the Pro Bowl was about the most uninteresting game imaginable – they go and make it incomprehensible as well.

Inspite if the rule changes, I actually liked this year's Pro Bowl. It was actually competitive and there were some great hits. It was much better than last year's debacle.

On my way in to work this morning (around 8am) I saw a police escorted caravan of 3 luxury coach buses with a Denver Broncos Placard in the front, heading down the nj turnpike... I guess John Fox has them practicing nice and early.

I also took some snaps of Superbowl Boulevard set up while walking to my office.
