Winning games is not the only thing the committee looks at.
It can’t be strength of schedule because the SEC was bad this year and most of the teams Alabama played were blowouts. They are getting in because the committee is playing favorites.

It's many things. Stop trying to just find one single metric.
[doublepost=1512331477][/doublepost]Anywhoo.

Ohio State vs USC - Cotton Bowl
Washington vs Penn State - Fiesta Bowl
Miami vs Wisconsin - Orange Bowl
UCF vs Auburn - Idk bowl

Yep, Alabama scheduled Mercer, a FCS team, the week before they lost to Auburn and is being rewarded for it. College football has the worst playoff system ever devised.

Wow, the committee delivered a steaming bag a crap this year.

A non-division winning; non-conference winning Alabama gets in.

The Big10 gets a big FU. Their conference is is shut out.

The only unbeaten team who also happens to have the #1 scoring offense is also shunned.

What a travesty and a joke. In no other sport would this sham of a playoff be tolerated. I won’t be watching any bowl game other than the one UCF plays in.
At least Frost will coach it.

As a Husker fan, I am excited for him to come back. I still have jerseys and hats signed by Scott Frost when I met him after they won the title in 97

Last 3 weeks are just one of the criteria. Stop trying to apply some sort of consistent metric. That's why people get frustrated. They think that if you check these boxes (win conference championship, only have one loss, be in the top x in offense defense) that this means you're in. It doesn't. They're data points.
Though it will make teams like OSU not schedule games like OU early in the season. What benefit does it do them?

Agreed. Alabama getting in is all about nepotism/favoritism and getting fans to watch and the game. It is a totally rigged system.
Alabama's reign will end soon.....Much like early 2000s Miami, USC, Florida and now Bama

I disagree. I don't think the loss to Oklahoma is the issue, it's the 31 point loss to Iowa.

Again, a lot of people are only looking at things they want to look at to make their argument. Yes, it's true the CFP rankings don't come into effect until midway through the season but everything leading up to that plays some part whether its significant or not (we don't really know the committee's criteria). It's simple, you win your games you're likely in especially if you're in a power conference and you're a big program. All OSU had to do was win but they lost to unranked Iowa by a large margin and that was ultimately their undoing. I am almost certain that if the only loss OSU had this season was to OU, they would be in over Alabama. Fans have no problem when their teams are cruising to wins throughout the season but when a bad loss comes, all the excuses and stat picking comes out to make an argument for their team.

I didn't expect Alabama to make the CFP after the Iron Bowl loss, and I wouldn't have complained if OSU had gotten in. But listening to Kirby Hocutt's statement this morning, I understand why the committee did what it did—OSU's loss to Iowa carried a lot of weight, it seems.

Alabama will have their work cut out for them against Clemson in the semi-final. Hopefully, by then they'll get their act together and a few injured players will return. Oklahoma-Georgia will be an interesting game, too. It'd be really crazy if Alabama ended up playing Georgia in the final, though I think that's unlikely.

Hey bud, I agree. I'm an Ohio State fan and I have no issue with Alabama getting in over my team. Some people will make excuses or conjure up reasons sure, but I just want to state that I am not one of those. I try to be as objective as I can be.

THIS is why we need an eight-team playoff after an 11-game regular season. Essentially, it's the Power 5 conference champions plus three best teams selected by a committee.

Right then we'll have these teams with 9-4 records getting into the playoff. what's the point? Do you really want to see Stanford or Michigan State in the playoff and then the regular season mean nothing?

If you like college football, you should not try and make the regular season mean less. That's what makes it so special.

The regular season already means nothing, lose one game and for the most part you are out. And with so many schools and conferences why even bother. Just create one mega conference with the best 10 schools in the country and not even bother with the rest of it.

This is just hyperbole. I can't understand this sentiment.

No surprise - Mayfield wins the Heisman, and given his season he certainly deserved it.

Lincoln Riley enjoyed an incredible season, and with Mayfield as as field general we can see why. The question will be when Mayfield leaves, how will at the helm

I predict a 2-3 loss season next year. No Mayfield means they lose some games they ended up winning this year. It’ll be like Florida State without Winston.

That's my thinking exactly, we'll have to wait and see next year, though recruiting is probably pretty good for them thanks to their successes.

Right. I hope so because it makes the world more interesting. I think there are only a handful of programs that can contend for a title each year, Oklahoma might be one of them but we'll see. We all probably thought Florida State was one but now look.

Well. It’s been a bad year for the PAC-12.
For what ever reason, I'm not a fan of PAC-12, but I was surprised at how poorly they faired in the bowls.

Somewhat surprised at the collapse of Miami last night. I'm happy for Wisconsin though.

The Wisconsin QB put up a legendary performance - Miami could have won had he played as poorly as Miami’s QB. Miami’s front 4 also got worn out but those guys came to play. The running backs in the B10 if Barkley come back are going to be insane. Taylor, Dobbins, Barkley to name a few plus there are some other great ones that don’t typically get covered.
