I've long thought Apple should charge a higher launch price because demand is so far exceeding demand every time a new iPhone launches it is ridiculous, and they should be profiting from that as a business.

They could launch pretty much any product at this point at a higher price and still sell out. Just look at the AirPods. Charge $100 more for them and I bet they'd still be sold out everywhere today. Once demand cools you start lowering the price a bit.

Great! I just added 2 years to my iPhone 6 Plus upgrade date. I'm glad their products are of such high quality that I only need to upgrade every 5th or 6th model.

Every cell phone I owned prior to my first iPhone (3G) broke or significantly "necessitated" a new phone/upgrade. From that first iPhone, I upgraded because I wanted to. Not a single one broke or quit working (well- except my 6+ that had a factory defect microphone/front glass assembly that was replaced under warranty). Every phone upgraded from was resold or more recently handed down, and continue to have useful life. I know if no Android fans who can make a similar claim.

The only thing I'm worried about is having an OLED display on the iPhone is going to make my other devices' displays look crappy by comparison

I want all-OLED across the board soon :D
This happened to me when I got the iPhone 4, that retina screen made my iPad look like crap

Many android folks just do not want to pay the extra for the iPhone (even though it doesn't end up that much more with payments) and they seem to be ok putting up with all the **** that goes along with android..like its normal and ok ;(
Oh but they have no bezels ;( no thanks! I'll pay extra for an iPhone, they just work..great!

Crossing $1000 would be pushing boundaries.

Anyway, it's the first re-design after 3 years so I would automatically not buy it due to build quality and Amoled panel issues.

2018 iPhone 8S will have
1. Improved AMOLED display with faster response times
2. 2nd generation screen Touch ID sensor/Home soft button.
3. Improved construction/ build quality
4. Faster CPU+GPU

Since Apple is concentrating on design and screen, I predict the SOC would only be 10-20% faster than current iPhone 7.

Ok.... I love my MBP, my current iPhone 6+ and Apple Watch but at 1K buck or over for a next gen iPhone....... they can bite me. I'll hang on to my 6+ until the battery won't hold a charge and then see what the current model that is 2 years behind the "latest" thing going that's hopefully closer to $500 and not 2x that amount. Then I'll hold on to that one for as long as it takes for 5G to be real and then I'll spring for one of those. Timing should be about right I'm guessing.

Perspective please.
10 years ago you had to buy a separate Mobile Phone, Digital Camera, MP3 player AND your only option for using the internet was buying a laptop or desktop computer.
Today you get all those thing in one slim device.
People don't buy PC's anymore as the recent sales figures are showing.
You don't have to buy a $1000+ "phone". You could just opt to get something cheap and nasty.
I look at the value of something and I factor in just how much I use it on a day to day basis.
I'll bet a lot of people use their "phone" more than most used their PC back in the day.
Perhaps it's time we stopped referring to these devices as "Phones".

Absolutely ridiculous. No phone should cost that much, regardless of how "premium" it is.

Why all the faux outrage? Pretty easy to see this coming a mile away giving the constant pricing jumps for internal upgrades the last few years. And considering 7+ stock took a good couple months to be in regular supply last Fall, can only imagine how the even more scarce the supply of the 8 will cause a lot of people to justify the upgrade if and when they can get one, and the $250+ cost matters a lot less.

1st paragraph: 1.) Is it demand or do they purposely hold back on the manufacturing to create this illusion? 2.) They DO profit from it... & obscenly, too.

2nd paragraph: 1.) That would make them truest of fanboys & therefore elegible to live in Apple Heaven w/ Steve Jobs one day & much like vampires, retire to their dongle-shaped coffins! 2.) Demand cools & prices drop? Uh..... huh (?). Is that why [literally] the day before late-2016 MacBook Pros were released, I could still have the privilege of paying $3000+ CDN for a minimum spec 15" MBP w/ 3 year old technology at 2017 prices that our outrageous even after a minor speed bump?

Price drops on MacBook Pros & iPhones even days before a refresh seem non-existent or very skimpy at best. I think you better reserve your dongle-shape coffin for when you'll need it in the distant future. Stevie sees you saying your prayers. lol

Wow, I bet the iPhone 8 will be great.

'Member when apple cared about their yearly Mac updates? this is bullcrap.

Mac Pro, hasn't been updated in 3+ years, which had a multi-year wait. Mac Mini, no updates.

Tim is more interested in opening stores rather than innovation. Their new moto should be "Why fix what's not broken" lol

That's why I love SD cards. Don't have to spend extra $ on more memory. I'll be sure to get another phone with one to replace my 7+ I regret getting.

If this is true, I'll most definitely replace my iPhone 6S, once it dies, with some generic Android phone. These Apple prices are becoming ridiculous even to me now.

But that was for the highest tiered, plus model. The base, 32 GB model (non-plus) started at $649. If this article is true, then the starting price of this new iPhone will be $1,000, and go as high as $1,330.

Remember that there was no 32 gb version of the jet black iPhone.

The Apple Watch Edition came with the charging stand.

If supply is this new iPhone 8 is as constrained as rumours are making it out to be, no point further fragmenting your supply chain with 32 gb models which nobody wants. Maybe there will only be 128 gb and 256 gb models or perhaps only a 256 gb version available.

Think about it - a 256 gb-only OLED iPhone 8 with a $100-$150 premium over the normal plus models. Bundle it with a wireless charging stand and it really might not be such a bad deal after all.

If the $1k iPhone rumors are true, then it would make for a good time to test out the Android waters. There's way too much competition at this point with equal or better hardware, and at a lower price, even than the base iPhone 7 model.

This looks like a decent stepping stone to go from Apple to Android (http://www.oppo.com/au/smartphone-r9s)

Not sure how buggy the software would be though. Hardware looks impressive!

We.... u want the best, u pay for it..... It will come down.. They always do.

I think u'r right,, i'll stick stick my iPhone 6S Plus a while longer too.

The bio techy stuff sounds all good, but to me, its all just an improvement on what is already perfect now....... How many people are really gonna use a fake finger ?

You would have better chance of loosing your password and someone else using it before that happens. But its still always good. I payed $1,079 here in Australia for 32 Gig 6s Plus, so i'm going by that.

Oh really? Yes it is normal and ok. I wonder when was the last time you tried an Android phone? I own a Samsung S7 and it's awesome. FYI Android works just great, those who speak of bugs should just remember how buggy iOS is. And of course I paid it MUCH less than an iPhone, about 534 Euro more than 200 less than an iPhone. But this is too difficult to accept, right? Oh, and I bought it because of VR, I'm so sorry you can't have that kind of experience with an iPhone. Be informed before you speak, I suggest you to adopt a less childish attitude.

Yes (I can afford it)
Yes, I probably will buy the 4.7" screen not the plus size. I went ~ a year with 6s plus and the thing was ridiculously large. I am not a small person at 6'1" 220, but the thing was simply cumbersome. Too small to do any real work or read documents, certainly too small to review engineering plans. Traded in for i7 "normal" size jet black with 256 gb. Perfect size and love the storage capacity.

Use iPad Pro to do work or review plans in field.

Have OLED tv - once you see OLED, it is very difficult to return to LCD
