What do you mean "upwards of $1,000"? My 7+ 256gb already costs 1139 eur, which is $1216.

So many people here complaining about the possible cost of the iPhone, but you'll all pay it. You'll all go and buy one. And if you don't buy one, it'll be because you're saving harder to buy the next iPhone.
...

Aren't you the Oracle, knowing what everybody will do? Yes, some people with more money (or tolerance for debt) than brains will buy it no matter what the price, but the air gets thinner at higher altitudes. Apple is shooting for the stratosphere now and I've seen a lot of people switch or buy earlier version to save money.

I've sat out the last 2 cycles, no iPhone 7 or 6S here, instead my SE is perfect in size and does exactly what I need.
I've waited till the 64GB dropped in price when they introduced the 7. $0 on a mid-tier plan.

For me the magic is gone and I'm planning my escape from the walled garden/prison.

I'm not sure I care anymore. I had an iPod Touch for years while I was stuck with a horrendous Android phone on a very long contract. When the contract was up, then I got an iPhone. I can go back to having an iPod Touch for music and a few apps, and the most dirt cheap cell phone I can find, because I hardly ever actually use the iPhone as a phone.
Exactly, fewer people make actual phone calls these days, too many other communication options.
Once my plan is up in July, I'm going data-only ($15/month 3GB) & free voip

Already did. Wasn't going to spend $800+ on a new phone, so I got me a Oneplus 3 for $399. Best phone I ever owned, and one of the cheapest (strike 1). That also meant ditching all iCloud services, as syncing with Android, while possible, is too much of a hassle (strike 2). When shortly after I needed a more powerful computer than my rMBP could offer, I investigated a desktop Apple but the cost-performance ratio was so bad I ended up building a $4000 monster PC that runs circles around the Mac Pro and top iMac all day long and twice on Sunday (strike 3, Apple you're out!).

Apple is pricing themselves right out the market by being too greedy and assuming the Apple logo will magically decrease their price to performance ratio without having to invest in using up-to-date components.

Good. Premium price means they can put more great tech in there. If you want a less powerful device, buy a cheaper model.

Tim Cook has lost his mind. The iPhone is already one of the most expensive devices out there!

You know that this is just a made up rumor right... Clue: The title of the website is the giveaway.

Oh and other high end devices are about the same price.

As is any "rumours" discussion, but this is fairly credible seeing how Apple jacked up prices for newer iPad & MacBook iterations.

Oh and other high end devices are NOT the same price.

It was a result of the drop in value of the base rate of the pound. When you take into account that US prices are always shown tax free and our prices include 20% VAT the one dollar = one pound conversion rate is only a couple of pennies out and not the massive rip-off that most people think.

Nope, the pound fluctuates all the time, and has been at 1.2 something against the dollar for about a month now, yet Apple hasn't dropped its price and won't for at least a year, so if the pound shoots back up, which experts are predicting it will as the trade deals roll in, then Apple will be making masses of profit at the consumers expense.

Brexit is just an excuse. Even the Bank Of England as done a complete and total 180 on the UK economies forcast! From doom and gloom to riches and prosperity.

The cheapest iPhone 7 costs $649 in the US and £599 in the UK.

I've seen some of your other posts discussing the recent price rises due to the low pound and I'm not sure you really understand what is going on. The exchange rate today is $1.2561 to the pound. Convert $649 to pounds, add the 20% VAT and you get £620. Are you sure you want Apple to adjust their prices today?

A lot of people here seem to be up in arms because of a rumor of a device (with rumored specs) that probably won't be out for another 7 months. Why don't we wait for some concrete information before we start scalding TC and Apple's decisions.
because this is a "rumor" website so why not? you must be looking for a website call, "MacFactsOnly.com"

I'll be getting Samsung S8. Which will be vastly superior and out 6 months earlier.

You need to rework some of your material if you ever want to get an HBO comedy special....

Doesn't like iPhone 6S still TROUNCE on the very fastest Samsungs ever made? I mean, I guess they had "big screens" 1st, but I seem to recall decent fingerprint scanning coming AFTER they saw how Apple did it, Samsung Pay coming AFTER they saw Apple's implementation, etc.
I'm pretty sure this round, you'll get to see their cheap copy of 3D Touch, at least!!! =)
I hear they had to drop the pointless 4K screen, because of how battery taxing they are (in light of the Note 7 debacle), so sadly you won't get a meaningless bragging point there. Oh, I did hear that it could have dual speakers like the iPhone 7, so there's that....
If you're expecting their imbedded home button to be on par with Apple's, prepare to be disappointed.
I know you Android guys love your benchmarks (or did that start to wane, after Apple started not only leading in real-world performance, but in synthetic benchmarks as well??), at any rate- I'd bet literally anything that even in the silly new overclocked "beast mode" Samsung's off-the-shelf CPU won't be able to touch Apple's custom designed A11 chip.

Ok.... so $31 more than 2016 iPhone, whats the big deal

Especially laughable that Apple acts as if OLED was some newly developed, cutting edge technology which they have to charge an extra premium for. They release two versions with LCD displays "to keep the costs down". Ridiculous.

Boy is this post getting a lot of feathers ruffled.

I don't think this is going to happen. Last year it was rumored that Apple was going to release 3 iterations of the iPhone 7, with the top tier being an iPhone "Pro." Different year, same rehashed rumor. Apple's product lines are already getting a little wonky, and introducing another iPhone model would not be good for keeping the buying experience simple for the average consumer. Also, we saw with the Apple Watch that people don't really care about "pro" or "premium" when they are already buying a premium device. Just my two cents.
