This phone won't be about market share. That's what the 7s will be for. There's no chance that the ($1,000) iPhone is going to get any significant market share. No chance

Android, Apple and outliers compete. If Apple/Droid even slip, Windows and Blackberry are right there waiting. Some people can only see style. Some people can only see 3 numbers: GHz, Mem, Pixels - As if that really defines an entire highly integrated system. Why is this surprising? This model will likely start at $869
The question is other than making more money - what makes this special? Just about any Android phone is OLED, has edge to edge screen and features wireless charging
Um, everyone, study your history:

$6500 price tag for the first Apple portable in 1989.
This is not new for Apple. They have ALWAYS charged a premium.
Apple are fast becoming a luxury brand for rich dbs.
Apple can prove me wrong by releasing an iPhone 8 with a camera that is at least as good as the competition from Samsung and Google.
Hmm, I rather continue the conversation with facts and numbers instead of allegories. In the real world one is reading The Cat in the Hat the other War and Peace
There is a reason why the iPad Pro is running a garbage mobile OS with Mickey Mouse Apps
Good. Premium price means they can put more great tech in there. If you want a less powerful device, buy a cheaper model.
It's the same trend whenever there's a new iPhone rumor.Does any of this really matter? If Apple is making a bad move my charging so much for a phone, people won't buy it. If people buy it, then they know what they'r doing. Talking about how bad this will be is useless, not giving them your money is an actionable result.
I would pay significantly more for a made in USA variantIf this comes with 4GB of ram, I could possibly consider it. Would last me probably 2 years before it gets "sluggish." However, if it's just going to be a 7S with a better screen... definitely no.

Imagine if it was made in the good 'ol USA though. It would cost as much as a 15" Macbook Pro.
The iPhone 7 and 7+ have two of the best cameras out there. The 7+ and Pixel are pretty much neck-and-neck. Some say the Pixel is a tiny bit better for low light shots but after this last Apple nighttime shot ad campaign, I'm not sure.
Are you kidding me? The Pixel destroys the iPhone on image quality due to it's larger sensor with larger light collecting pixels. It's not even close.
As I said "It starts at the bottom. Don't compare your high end computer and be deceived." But I respectfully suggest you are doing exactly that, and can not see past a few years.Well see, for myself and many others, our jobs require high end computing power, so there will never be a day when a phone or tablet can replace our computers.
Last I checked, iOS doesn't even have a file browser in place, so its pretty far away from being a replacement for a traditional computer. At least Android trust its users enough to let them use the filesystem. I could see Android phones being more competition to computers.
Still, on the original argument, I've got a couple ARM powered Raspberry Pi computers, and though its made massive strides in performance, the ARM architecture is still underpowered for a desktop computer environment.
Nope, I'm not a shareholder. If I was one I would push apple to regularly update their product cycles and invest in the future to not fall behind like they do now (long term investment). If I had enough shares to have a pressuring vote I would even demand they keep investing in their volatile ecosystem and products that properly don't make that much of profits in for the ecosystem to be complete. With no screens and routers and out of date desktops it's a shame they mention the mantra: you'll see this only coming from Apple. The customers don't have to pay it. Yet they do - many stand in line for hours to do so.
I am guessing you're not a shareholder.
And yet Apple has done just that. And other companies are now trying to follow. *cough* HP Spectre *cough*
Heck, Apple wasn't even an innovator in this area. Bang and Olufsun have merged fashion and electronics for decades.
Only a matter of time before Gucci starts making cases for MacBooks, iPhones and iPads and bands for Apple Watches.
If it is something truly amazing, I may consider changing my iPhone 5S.
If it is just for a better camera, better screen and faster cpu it is not worth it to update...
Hmm, I rather continue the conversation with facts and numbers instead of allegories.
Good day.
because this is a "rumor" website so why not? you must be looking for a website call, "MacFactsOnly.com"
The only thing Windows and Blackberry are waiting for is the undertaker.Android, Apple and outliers compete. If Apple/Droid even slip, Windows and Blackberry are right there waiting.
I think you already have plenty of options today to spend extra money if you want to support American-made products (start with cars).I would pay significantly more for a made in USA variant
This phone won't be about market share. That's what the 7s will be for.
I wouldn't and I doubt if anyone living outside the USA would want to either. I'd also bet a lot of Americans wouldn't be thrilled by the idea.I would pay significantly more for a made in USA variant
So, in conclusion, you'll pay what Apple ask. If you aren't interested in the completion, Apple has the monopoly.Maybe one day, but not in the immediate future. In my sig, 7 is wife's phone that just replaced her broken 5S. She wanted to keep the 5S, but it died. My 6S+ replaced my iphone 5S, I skipped a gen. The SE is my kid's phone, a present by the grandparents for Christmas, I didn't buy it. Laptops are old, the iPP is actually a product I am happy to have as I love it.
Right now I am thinking about giving my wife an Apple watch for her b-day, and I am not in the market for anything else. Of course a lot will depend on the iPhone 7S/8 and its pricing, as I am in the Apple Upgrade program (I wounder how it works with such an increase in price).

You're not alone, my wife is the same. She hates her iPhone 7 but when she broke it recently, she went out and spent another £799 on a new one (the broken one is still in the car).
Apple have created an incredibly loyal customer base that go so far as to actively hate the competition. They'd be foolish to not raise prices and capitalise.
