The 2017 iPhone Could Cost Upwards of $1,000

Pfffttttt hahahaha... so this will be a special edition model then with the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus.. or Apple has lost its mind, completely. I'll just get a lower priced iPhone 7 if this is the new pricing target.

It's also utterly utterly utterly pathetic that this article sites 'more expensive features like an OLED screen' WTF? Oh yeah because we haven't have curved edge OLED screens with far higher resolution for the past three years or anything..... do me a fecking favour, what a joke of an apologetic excuse for pure unadulterated price gouging!

No wonder profits are so good... Apple are selling to lower numbers at a higher cost. One day, they will sell 3 phones each worth 88 billion each.

If they really do charge this much it makes me want Apple to fail as a company. Phones shouldn't cost this much at all and they are milking their 'premium brand' image.

While that cost is ridiculous, though on par with Apple's gouging, I mean "premium", philosophy, that 8 concept pic is dope!
 
Hmmm. It just occurred to me that the iPhone 8 could be the cat's pajamas model, and that the 7S version could be the usual upgraded models.

Apple will milk the 6/6S/7 body for one more year upgrading them per usual into the 7S. Makes sense.

But the lower volume, iPhone 8 Pro, will be the OLED, double glass, no home button, face recognizing, does dishes, mows the lawn model with even everything bigger, better, faster, etc. The premium price will pay for it's lower overall volume and reduce risk to Apple's profit margin. It will come only in 256GB or more and be a premium price over the premium iPhone 7S Plus.

If you don't want to pay more, you won't. you just won't get one. you'll upgrade the same way you always have and pay the same price point.

But an extra $200 divided by 24 payments is only $8.33 more per month you cheapskates. Think about that.
 
phones just last so much longer than they use to. I have a SE now, and I don't see myself upgrading for at least a couple of more years.

What you and a lot of people don't seem to realise is it doesn't matter. If it costs 1000, people will pay a thousand. It's not 3000, which is not going to be possible, it's 1000. People that buy iphones can amass 1000.

I am not saying it's right, but I am right. And you are naive.
 
Absolutely ridiculous is what comes to mind. Granted I'm not a fan of plus model devices, so 4.7" will suffice. But the fact that there will be "premium" model is just insane.

Samsung Galaxy phone's have been sporting OLED screens for how long now? You don't see them costing an arm and a leg.

It looks like I'll be keeping my 6s and SE for another year. If anything, I would upgrade my SE if Apple decides to release a hardware update.

This isn't the phone for most people. The 7s and 7s plus will be the phone for most people.
 
An OLED screen is nowhere near a big enough reason for me to cough up $1,000 for a phone. My eyes simply aren't that picky.

It won't be $1,000. It will be $40 per month. To many consumers they won't even look at the actual cost, just the monthly payment.

This isn't to say it's worth $1000, just that few are actually paying that in one lump sum. Also that is the high end of the price spectrum. Most people are good with the 32 and 128GB models.

Leaks suggest the 5.8 will be in between the current 7 and 7 plus in regards to physical size.

Do what you want with the flagship. I'm in love with my SE. It would be great if they can give me an edge to edge screen in this form factor and upgrade the camera. That is all I truly need.
