Clemson always seems shaky in some games, but they just keep winning, I don't expect anything different this year.

I can see them dropping a game later, but I'm pretty bearish on them.

Michigan State had no business losing the game they lost.
ND is probably overrated again (same with Stanford, but, who else are you going to rank when teams like Michigan State drop games they have no business losing?)

until they face Alabama :)

If Alabama stays healthy they have a very good chance at another title. Tua is the real deal, and Jalen is playing better now that the pressure is off. But I take nothing for granted. If LSU continues to win, they won't be a pushover when Bama plays them, and Mississippi State will be tough, too. No matter what Auburn does between now and the Iron Bowl, that game isn't a given win, either.

Wow, Saturday was the day for upsets
VT vs. Old Dominion - A winless team takes down VT.
Miss. St vs. Kentucky
TT vs. Oklahoma St.
TCU Vs. Texa
BC vs Purdue.

In other news, I gotta believe Scott Frost is feeling the pressure and heat, going winless so far. Is the Nebraska that bad?

So I guess the first CFP rankings will be due out tonight on prime time. I know ESPN tries hard to generate viewerships, but I have to admit this is a stretch. Not just because its way to early to see how will be in the plays but also, its just rankings.

Nice, 'cuse are 19 in the CFP. We'll see what happens the rest of the year - but regardless - they are definitely a different team this year

My 'Cuse are gonna win it all!

Yeah right...

It'll never happen...

I hope they win one game...

When does basketball start?

Will fully admit I was wrong to doubt them.

No real surprise with the CFP rankings they mirror the AP poll. I don't think there was going to be any surprises, though in all honesty, I don't think ND and Michigan will remain there and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ohio St back in the mix for some reason. That happened before, they were down in the rankings in the beginning but kept climbing

Michigan will definitely be in the playoff if they win out, and they probably have the best chance of any team to beat Alabama. Their defense is very, very good. Even watching the game versus Notre Dame they looked like the better team, the offense just wouldn’t click.

With that being said I sort of hope Ohio State gets left out because I’d rather them beat up on some hopeless Pac-12 team than get smothered by Alabama, the way they’ve played this year.

With THAT being said, I’m hoping for historic chaos this Saturday. 3 very good games on with Alabama - LSU, Kentucky - Georgia, and Penn St - Michigan.

University of Maryland is a dumpster fire and I think they'll be hard pressed to recruit anyone worth their salt.

A recap of events
a player dies this past summer, fingers are pointed to the caustic atmosphere that Durkin and the strength and conditioning coach created. The strength and conditioning coach eventually resigns.
The president accepts responsibility and initiates an independent commission to investigate the board of regents takes over the investigation and adds people they feel needs to be included.
The "independent" investigation concludes little, and the board of regents orders Loh the president to not fire the coach or they would fire him, they only had the power to fire the president.
Amid huge backlash, the coach is fired, the president announces his retirement and the chair of regents resigns.

Today a report that the campus police are investigating a fight between players

Clemson yes, Michigan no.

I don't see Harbaugh being able to game plan better than Nick Saban. You're probably going to see Alabama/Clemson part 3.

Maybe but it depends. If Michigan’s defense is as good as the stats say, then they have a chance. Even the offense has somewhat come together.

I think either way we don’t see Alabama Clemson v3.

If we're talking about Alabama vs. *insert team*, we've heard it all before. More times than not, Alabama/Nick Saban is able to minimize a team as a whole. It doesn't matter how good you think you are, Alabama finds a way to take your strength away.

The last time I could remember where a team was supposedly as good as Alabama in defense was the BCS title game against Notre Dame. Alabama hasn't seen anything like ND's front 4/7 (Louis Nix & Co.) We all know what happened in that game.

It would be an intriguing game only because Harbaugh finally gets to play in a game that he was hired to get Michigan into but factor his experience and what Alabama/Saban does in the CFP, I just don't think Michigan pulls out anything. I think they're a one-and-done team if they make it to the CFP and we continue to hear how Harbaugh has not lived up to the expectations and hype.

I think Georgia and Clemson are the only teams currently considered for the playoff that could beat Alabama.

Sure that’s certainly possible, (excluding Georgia they have absolutely no chance) - what I’m basing what I’m saying off is whether Michigan’s defense is actually that good or not. If they are, they have a better chance to beat Alabama than anybody else, even Clemson. I don’t really think the Notre Dame reference is relevant because it was how many years ago and wasn’t even the playoff?

Saban is the best ever but he’s not invincible. Both Ohio State and Clemson have beat them in the playoff and they’ve lost regular season games.

FWIW my praise for Michigan is coming from an Ohio State fan. If their defense is as good as advertised it’s the one thing that can beat Alabama. You aren’t going to beat them with some high-flying offense and no defense.

Crazy weekend,
I wonder what Michigan is going to do, with Harbaugh, He's not lived up to the promise, potential or his paycheck. He's had a reputation of not being able to win the big game, since he arrived at Ann Arbor, and that was cemented in concrete yesterday. They lacked mental toughness.

I don't think the win in Ann Arbor is enough to propel Ohio State into the play off picture.

As for mental toughness, I give props to Jimbo Fisher in turning around the Aggies, 7 OTs and they beat LSU, I didn't stay up to watch the entire game, but what I did see, Texas A&M like most of the season plays everyone very hard.

Next week's Alabama/Georgia game will be interesting, Georgia has been rolling over their opponents, and Alabama has been sleep walking through the games for the most part and their defense hasn't looked as sharp as it had earlier in the season. I think if Georgia wins, they'll be in the playoff and Alabama will still be in the playoff.

If Oklahoma loses then Ohio State is probably in, given the other loses and the fact they whipped Michigan so hard. But either way, is Oklahoma reallly deserving of being in the playoff either?

That LSU - A&M game is crazy

Everybody focusing on Oklahoma-Ohio State debate and assuming the Dawgs get rolled by Bama is probably the best place for Kirby's team right now.
The Dawgs have always played better as an underDawg rather than a front runner, and this young team is playing their best ball of the year now.

IF the Dawgs manage to find a way to win and Bama gets in the top 4 anyway, watch everyone lose their minds again and demand the playoff be expanded to 8, 12, 16 whatever is necessary to get their teams in.
