Aston Villa appear to have used up all their luck against Liverpool.

EDIT: Having been down 4-1, Villa scored twice after the 90th minute, making it really interesting but ultimately all for nought. 4-3: the most exciting football score.

Ings got injured though, that's a huge shame given his form. I hope it isn't serious.
I’d fear for Southampton if Ings was out for a long period.
Could do with a goal fest in the Spurs game. But being put in my fantasy team is the kids of death!

A very good (and well deserved) win for Arsenal this afternoon (early evening?) against Manchester United at Old Trafford by a goal to nil, (although, it could well have been more).

One step forward, two steps back for United, as always under Ole. Arteta saw that diamond midfield formation coming from miles away and set his team up accordingly. Also must be nice to have Thomas Partay at the base of your midfield instead of... uh... Fred.

Paul Pogba needs to spend a good, long spell on the bench.

Sad to read Sit Bobby Charlton has dementia. Just a day or two after we were talking about it in connection with Nobby Styles.

Very sad.

And today's Observer (Sunday paper of the Guardian) when reporting that Sir Bobby Charlton has dementia (and reminding readers that his brother Jack, who died a few months ago, and Nobby Stiles, whose death was reported just a few days ago both had suffered from dementia) also reported that Martin Peters (who died in 2019) and Ray Wilson (who passed away in 2018) had also suffered from dementia.

The article further reminds readers that, "A study last year found former footballers 3.5 times more likely than others to develop dementia."

Arsenal have an absolutely wretched record at OT in the last 15-20ish years, so a win there is a big deal for the Arsenal faithful.

It is tragic. Will it lead to changes? In the short term I doubt it. It's worth pointing that players retiring today may still show similar damage 30 years from now. So this problem will be with us for decades even if we do something about it right now - and we're doing very little abut it as yet.

Bale on the scoresheet for Spurs...what is this, 2012?

And Spurs defeat Brighton by two goals to one.
Aah, that really annoyed me.
Not because I particularly dislike Spurs, but because it mean Saints dropped all the way down to 4th on the table.

Talk about squeaky bum time in the match!! from 4-0 up to a 4-3 victory...with a Jack Grealish stunner in injury time.
I was holding my breath through that second half - we have thrown away more leading positions than any other club in the Premier League in recent times, so you're never guaranteed a result. I don't think our players really thought there was any doubt, which really hurt them in the last 3rd of the game.

I know a win, is a win. However, I would have loved for us to have scored from open play today...

#Arsenal

A win is a win, especially away, and especially at Old Trafford.

Never mind the penalty; I'd have happily taken an OG as long as it came with three points.

Actually, before the match, I'd have happily settled for a draw.

As it was, Arsenal were the better team and created more chances. And they didn't concede a goal, or collapse in the last ten or twenty minutes. Incremental, but still, some sort of steady progress.

So is it time to talk about how over-rated Paul Pogba is?
I don't deny he has talent...but the level at which he has been lauded in recent years really belies the lack of effort he puts in, the mistakes he makes and arrogance that he displays.
Does he suffer from having too vocal a hype squad? I think he does.

Fulham through themselves a lifeline this evening. At the same time pulling West Brom to their level. Where as Leicester showed Leeds in no uncertain terms the class golf between the top of the Championship and the top of the PL. Very good away win.
If Fulham can pull off a couple more of these, they could well survive this campaign...

Yes, Leicester are still a very good team; sometimes, people forget that they actually managed to win the Premiership only a few years ago.

It's possible, but realistically they need to improve AND the teams around them need to get worse in order for them to survive relegation.

They are too dependent on Vardy but the bones of the team are solid; and while Brendan Rogers is often seen as a figure of fun he is a good manager.
