And so it's a Tottenham vs Man City final in the (name that sponsor) cup.

Will be an interesting contrast of styles...park the bus and hit on the counter-attack, vs dominate the midfield and pass, pass, pass until a hole opens up.
Could be exciting...more likely to be boring.
I predict a 1-0 win in one direction or the other.
Indeed. Could be a good game. Probably won’t be!

I’m no Man City fan, but I was really please to see ex-Columbus Crew goalkeeper Zack Steffen get a runout for Man City in an important game, and he played his part in Man City’s win.

He was a star in Columbus and I was sad to see him go. But if he can break through to play for an elite team in Europe I can live with that.

I'm no Manchester City fan - and, while I would love to see Spurs actually win a trophy - although I loathe Mourinho and notwithstanding the fact that I support Arsenal (and am supposed to harbour an ancestral hatred for Spurs, which I don't) - I will confess to divided loyalties on this one.

Of course there will be a preview on 02/13/21 ...

Plenty of matches this weekend being postponed due to positive COVID tests in playing squads.

I can realistically see football being postponed altogether if they continue on the trajectory.

Ajax have had a bid accepted for Sebastien Haller which is worth less than half the £45m West Ham paid Eintracht Frankfurt for the forward in the summer of 2019

Not that I’m sorry to see him go, but I really hope we have a deal to replace him lined up. We need someone to support Antonio. Especially when he is injured!

Haller is a good player, but plenty of good players have flopped in the Premiership. Has West Ham even missed him much? Seems like he's barely played this season, I can only remember him fluffing an easy chance against United and scoring a worldie a week later.

Every week since Antonio was injured. Just not too many goals. Heavily linked with Joshua King. We’ll have to see if that’s just speculation, but we will need someone.

You needn’t have worried. They got the job done.
Meanwhile Arsenal made hard work of it against Newcastle but got the job done in the end! @Scepticalscribe must be pleased.

Arsenal tend to do reasonably well - and sometimes, extremely well - in FA Cup competitions.

So, while I'd prefer fewer distractions (on the lines of Europa Cup, or the League Cup/Carabou Cup which we are well out of), I'm more fine with success of any sort in the FA Cup; it is an old, venerable competition, both lobed and respected, and I've always liked it.

Moreover, I still find it difficult to forgive Manchester United for their arrogance, when (in 1999-2000, I think,) they declined to enter the FA Cup competition.

yeah it's 7 years old... still kinda fun to read...
Minnie Driver was at Nevada Smiths pub 2008 or 07 in NYC watching Chelsea with me and other supporters.
i made her laugh a couple of times, she is a nice person.

Well you’ve certainly become a cup specialist team of late. Especially in the absence of any other silverware for the forceable future, it makes sense to go for it. We have Stockport tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I am unable to open it.

Arsenal: Idris Elba

1 OF 20
  1. Football's a great equaliser, bringing together individuals from just about every cloth, class and community, so it's good to see that Idris Elba's shot to superstardom hasn't seen him lose his Highbury roots.
Starring in television series like The Wire, Luther and numerous Hollywood hits such as Thor, Pacific Rim and Prometheus, it's fair to say Elba's now rubbing elbows with some of the acting world's finest.
However, no matter how far across the pond the Ghanaian/English-born star has been, he's managed to keep on top of the goings-on at the Emirates Stadium.
Granted, Elba may have been more than a little off the mark in his assertion that Arsenal would definitely have silverware in hand by the end of the 2010/11 campaign, but what fan doesn't have ever so slightly rose-tinted vision?

Shame to see Leeds go out. Chelsea, Man City, and Man Utd progress, though none of their opponents put up much of a fight.

'Pool made heavy weather at first against the Aston Villa U20s but were able to turn on the class in the second half. Liverpool continue to look tired, and the central defense will remain a weakness for the rest of the season, though Fabinho is filling in better than I'd hoped.

Man City are in the best shape in England at the moment, one of the few teams that seems likely to be consistent. For now.
