Celtic sign Liam Shaw on pre-contract as Neil Lennon plans for next season
NEIL LENNON has wrapped up a pre-contract deal for Sheffield Wednesday youngster Liam Shaw. Under-fire Celtic boss Lennon is expected to leave Parkhead at the end of the season. But he is adamant S…www.thescottishsun.co.uk
I'm off to follow Celtic. Tah...
Isn’t it when their current contract runs out at the end of the season so they are free to talk to other clubs from January? They then have an agreement in place before they can officially sign a new contract.WTH is a "pre-contract" deal?
lol no idea.WTH is a "pre-contract" deal?

Come on. Your only 10th. Imagine what relegation feels like. Seeing all your best players leave.I know.
I do understand.
Actually, it is very frustrating to have lost your heart, (football) judgment, mind, and some sense of sanity to a football club, especially an underperforming football club.
We're 22nd ... lol. You were quoting, and responding to, @Scepticalscribe ... lol. my bad...Come on. Your only 10th. Imagine what relegation feels like. Seeing all your best players leave.
Yes I was comparing the current Arsenal slump with the prospect of relegation which we have faced in the past. It’s horrible. We're 22nd ... lol. You were quoting, and responding to, @Scepticalscribe ... lol. my bad...
But still:

Okay: Fair point, @pachyderm (and @Apple fanboy): Arsenal's decline is relative, and Mr Arteta is slowly but surely stiffening the spine of that defence. Relegation threats are something else entirely.Yes I was comparing the current Arsenal slump with the prospect of relegation which we have faced in the past. It’s horrible.
I read this. I think with the older players I can see the logic. They are probably on a high wage. But depends on who you can get in to replace them.Thoughts on these rumours?
France striker Alexandre Lacazette, 29, is one of several players Arsenal could sell this summer as part of a clear-out to cut costs. (Sun)
Brazil defender David Luiz, 33, Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira, 25, and French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, 21, also look set to leave Arsenal. (Star)
Feels a bit "Wengerball" to me...in that they are balancing the books rather than looking at creating room for new players.I read this. I think with the older players I can see the logic. They are probably on a high wage. But depends on who you can get in to replace them.
Wednesday are going through what Saints did in the Lowe era.I'm pretty sure Arsenal will be ok. Eventually... not sure so about Wednesday.

We crashed through the floor of the divisions until we were sitting at the bottom of League One with a healthy points deficit.
Along came the GREATEST MAN TO HAVE EVER LIVED (Otherwise known as Herr Markus Liebherr), who bailed us out, put his own money into the club, put decent business managers and football managers in, refused to overpay for players at that level and then promptly popped his clogs, leaving behind a daughter who continued his legacy for a while before she ended up selling a majority stake to a Chinese charlatan who is slowly killing the club all over again.
So it'll be fine. Wednesday will come right eventually and then they won't again. And then possibly they will come right once again.
Good luck. Relegation is the worse.I appreciate the effort but... You realize we've done this all before ?
This is a repetitive cycle for us. I do believe we'll actually avoid the drop but it will be close.
Oh I know.Good luck. Relegation is the worse.

This reminds me of those conversations I used to have (and my mother used to have) with Decent Brother, on the topic of Sunderland's eternal cycles of promotion, hanging on miraculously by fingernails or football laces to a PL place and escaping relegation by a proverbial whisker, before inevitably succumbing to a disastrous season and relegation the following season, and then, challenging (yet again) for promotion.Oh I know.
Agree there is a respect in rugby you don’t see in football. Crowding round the ref etc and making the whole thing a spectacle.I find the Darren Drysdale story rather fascinating. He stepped over the line and will be punished for it, but in my opinion referees are totally inadequately protected. The more I watch rugby, the more I think "why on earth do we allow footballers, managers and staff to regularly harass refs in football?" Not to mention the internet bullying.
Bare minimum, there should be a rule banning players from speaking to refs except when spoken to, save the captains. Outside that, confronting a ref/complaining is automatically grounds for a yellow.
This is also why a sin bin would be a good idea, to give yellows more teeth.

Absolutely agree with the pair of you.Agree there is a respect in rugby you don’t see in football. Crowding round the ref etc and making the whole thing a spectacle.
We play Spurs Sunday. Hopefully Antonio is fit to play and Kane isn’t!
