Agree it’s never good for a sending off to effect a game. But I think we were on top before and I’m not sure the result would have been all that different. Antonio is on fire at the moment.
West Ham certainly did look the better side for most of the match. And that goal difference bonus might come in handy late in the season.

Just catching up on the transfer news. Think I’d rather keep Rice than lose him in a cash plus Lingard deal. Hopefully we can keep Rice and land Lingard.
You'd have to hope that's what happens.
You would not want to lose Rice, but if you had to...how would you feel about that? Is Lingard worth that, do you think?
I know he was good for you in the loan spell last season, but would he make up for the loss of Rice?

What a hero! Lol. I wonder how much extra they are paying him now? I think he should have gone if he wants silverware at the end of his career. But from a PL point of view this is a good thing. But I guess Chelsea are the real winners here.
It's huge victory for Daniel Levy, and a very embarrassing (but fairly predictable) climbdown for Kane (Harry and Charlie). The fans, of course, lose as always. Kane is still there but really doesn't want to be, and Spurs' grand plan for trophies remains pretty hazy to me. They have good players but are nowhere near contesting the league or CL, and their European adventure is looking dodgy.

Between COVID and rising transfer fees we are finally seeing clubs struggle to re-sell their marquee purchases without taking huge and unacceptable losses. There are now more 100+ million-Euro players on the market than there are clubs willing and able to pay 100 million Euros for players.

Rice is off the menu this summer (rimshot). I now feel fairly confident that United will bring in one of Saul, Camavinga, or Neves before the window closes.

Any deal for Lingard will be independent of Rice, but it's also possible that United won't buy another midfielder until they can offload Lingard. Lots of high stakes poker being played by the transfer teams at United, West Ham, Atletico, etc. right now, as often happens near the end of the summer window.

I’m guessing this story will run again in January and then next summer…

I have everything crossed!

Kane is not going to win trophies at Spurs. Not with Man City, Chelsea, and Man Utd (and to a lesser extent Liverpool) in the shape they're currently in. Maybe a cup I suppose. If he remains England's key man up front his desirability and value will remain high.

So presumably he will eventually go - but not till Levy lets him go and gets a price he wants. And Levy does not have to sell him next season either. I doubt a January transfer will happen, big moves in January are rare. But it will be interesting to see what the financial landscape looks like next spring, and what price is put on Kane.

Some interesting scorelines in the (insert name here) Cup this morning.

Arsenal showing some spine to thrash West Brom in the only televised match and Saints absolutely smashing a League Two team away from home with our B Squad, which in itself is a miracle. Looking at our starting 11 and the bench, we actually look to have some depth! Heady times at St Mary's that's for sure.
Burnley and Toon playing out a 0-0 scoreline and going to penalties where Burnley were victorious is a bit of a damp squib in the face of the other results.

Looks like Cristiano Ronaldo to City is a real possibility.

At least that solves the GOAT debate once and for all in favor of Lionel Messi.

I hope this is just a smokescreen to force PSG's hand in regards to selling Mbappe to Real Madrid, but even the thought turns my stomach.

Meanwhile, looks like Chelsea is closing in on both Jules Kounde and Saul Niguez. That, folks, is how you build a championship squad.

What a sour ending to the transfer window this is becoming. United absolutely must add another midfielder to stay within touching distance of City and Chelsea. Neves seems like the logical option since Camavinga is more set on PSG or Real Madrid.

I’m more interested in Utd releasing a midfielder. Let Jesse Lingard go!

Does West Ham have the funds to acquire both Zouma and Lingard? If so, you'd be pretty well set up for the league and for Europe, I'd say.

Now it looks like the Glazers scavenged some spare millions from under the sofa to gazzump City for Ronaldo. What a stunning turn of events. I imagine Nemanja Vidic made a subtly threatening phone call to set him straight.

It looks like a luxury signing, but Cavani is set to miss a bunch of United games for World Cup qualifiers. I wonder if Cavani is truly prioritizing the World Cup — and it’s his last shot at it, so I don’t blame him too much — he could be sold to a South American club at the last moment.

Speaking a 'Pool fan, this is the worst news I heard today. He'll score 1 in 2 at least.

On the other hand, he's a cancer in any team not built primarily around him.

Also: perhaps a clever move by the Glazers in that it provides another insulating layer of 'club legend' between the fans and owners?

It’s sexier than buying a DM, apparently, but the goodwill and positive PR is pretty immense.

Shares of MANU jumped over 3 points today, adding a few hundred million to the club’s valuation. The deal paid for itself already.
