Is Arsenal's squad up to the demands and expectations? Is Arteta capable of turning this form around?

Of course on top of all that, the early red card was completely disastrous. And, finally, they were facing an incredibly stacked Man City team. They have so much depth that missing players are barely an excuse, and clearly it didn't slow them down much.

Meanwhile, West Ham have twice taken the lead against Crystal Palace, and Palace have equalized twice. Palace's attacking trio look ponderous and slow to react in the box, but they've cause enough trouble to give Gallagher the opportunity to score a brace.

Yes I was disappointed to drop points against Palace. We should have taken more of our chances and been out of sight. But you can’t score four every week.
Arsenal will be getting rid of the manager very soon in my opinion. No one can lose their opening three games in that fashion. Maybe one or two more defeats and he’ll be gone.

Columbus 3-2 Cincinnati

Columbus FINALLY snap their long losing streak with a come-from-behind home win against Cincinnati. We beat a weak team thanks to a couple goalkeeping errors, so it would be premature to say our form is improving, but the players didn't give up when losing 2-1 late in the match and were rewarded with two goals in barely a minute of play, with sub Miguel Berry bagging two off a pair of spills from Cincy's keeper.

Long way to go but a playoff spot is still possible...but we need to start winning matches now.

West Ham scored enough goals to win the game and took the lead twice; they could have taken more of their chances but the bigger concern would be leaking two goals, especially from winning positions. Not a 'bad' result but Palace will probably come out happier about it.

I’m sure they will. Anyone who takes points of the top club is going to be happy!

The red card spoiled what was looking to be a really spicy match at Anfield.

Tuchel has built his reputation partially on his ability to build teams that don't concede, and once Chelsea parked the bus it became incredibly hard to create space for attacking. The game become a slog for everyone. Chelsea are my favorites to win the league, so by that logic this is the toughest game Liverpool will play this season apart from the reverse fixture.

The red card was a red card. If had happened to my team naturally I'd be furious. Whether or not the rule/punishment is fair as written can be debated, but the ref's decision was correct.

Overall it feels deflating but, despite the media narrative and Chelsea clearly celebrating it at the end, it's not a terrible result for Liverpool.

TBH Chelsea or City are my favourites so not a bad result for Liverpool at all. Even better result for us though! Still top.

City second goal. Absolutely shocking defending. What were they thinking? The sending off was completely correct. A horrible challenge. Arsenal are not even in the same league at the moment.

No, alas, they are not.

These momentary lapses of judgment, that sort of insane rush of blood to the head resulting in a (justified) red card are a bad habit that I would have hoped Arsenal might have broken by now.

Along with the brutally bad defending.

Excruciating. Embarrassing. Exquisitely awful.

From all reports Wednesday played very well. Unlucky with the OG.

Really tight match between Spurs and Watford, settled by a goalkeeping error. Quite a shame as Watford deserved a draw for their defensive resilience, though apart from Sarr they offered very little going forward. Harry Kane welcomed 'back' by the Spurs fans.

Man Utd with a rather ho-hum performance that nevertheless manages to take all three points against a stout Wolves team.

As for the 'foul' by Pogba on Neves, it falls into the grey area of a ref's discretion - could have gone either way. Contact was made but that alone does not mean it's a foul. I do think that if the contact was just a little bit harder Pogba would probably have been penalized and the move resulting in the goal would not have happened. But I don't see the no-call as an 'error' by the ref.

I can see why the ref didn't call it in real time. I couldn't even discern the contact in the slow motion replays, but it probably did happen, thought was certainly not a "clear and obvious error" by the ref.

Typically good finish by Greenwood to score the goal, though the keeper probably thought he should have kept it out.

Speaking of 'keepers: David de Gea, goodness me. On form he is very, very good.

Otherwise, United didn't look so hot, with their Fred-sized hole in central midfield.

Transfer deadline day looms. Looks like Lingard is staying put. We are linked with Niko Vlasic. Although some places are saying it’s a done deal. Not sure he’s the sort of quality Lingard would have brought us though.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles might be going on loan to Everton after his Instagram plea. It was heartfelt if inappropriate, but if Arsenal are keeping him purely for cover they are not doing a great job of keeping him happy with it, or at minimum, keeping him silent over it.
