I'd be very surprised if the French didn't win it all... but who's to say?I think it’s written in the stars.
Messi’s Argentina wins the World Cup and Pele passes away.
GO MOROCCO !!

France have a good shot at this now. But they’ll still have to play their best game twice more.I'd be very surprised if the French didn't win it all... but who's to say?

Remember James Rodriguez? The WC can be a great shop window, but you don't always get what you paid for. Portugal have a few players who play domestically who looked good an might get poached. Now that the Jan window beckons, its kinda funny that clubs are placing £/€100m valuations on players linked with a move, based on a World Cup that has been devoid of any real quality.
Their number 7 looked like one for the future. Want him?😜Remember James Rodriguez? The WC can be a great shop window, but you don't always get what you paid for. Portugal have a few players who play domestically who looked good a might get poached.
Reminds me of the barbed and bitter old Soviet joke: "The past is constantly changing: Only the future looks certain. And glorious."Their number 7 looked like one for the future. Want him?😜
Possibly not so much at the moment.Reminds me of the barbed and bitter old Soviet joke: "The past is constantly changing: Only the future looks certain. And glorious."
Interesting to see if this finally sours Portugal on CR7. The graceful move would be to get the few additional caps he needs to break the appearance record and then retire. But I wouldn’t be totally shocked so see him still moping about the pitch at the next Euros…for someone so sensitive about being disrespected he seems never to have learned the Golden Rule.Their number 7 looked like one for the future. I suspect he might find a way to hang around (like a bad smell) at the Euros!Interesting to see if this finally sours Portugal on CR7. Of course, for him, there’s a fate worse than being disrespected…being ignored. When only Piers Morgan wants to talk to you, you’ve fallen far indeed.

Yes, but even for Portugal, the law of diminishing returns - on a variety of different levels - will apply, which will inevitably beg the question of, at what stage does managemnet and the team decide to cut their losses with CR7?I suspect he might find a way to hang around (like a bad smell) at the Euros!
Probably when Mendes allows itYes, but even for Portugal, the law of diminishing returns - on a variety of different levels - will apply, which will inevitably beg the question of, at what stage does managemnet and the team decide to cut their losses with CR7?
The trouble there is any manager that drops him simply has to perform without him. Less they are told you’d have done better at this tournament with him.Yes, but even for Portugal, the law of diminishing returns - on a variety of different levels - will apply, which will inevitably beg the question of, at what stage does managemnet and the team decide to cut their losses with CR7?
I've always argued the Messi v Ronaldo argument was pointless, but if we must have it I think we can now conclude it. Apart from raw goal numbers I think Messi comes out a clear winner. Assuming he doesn't 'pull a Ronaldo' and torpedo his legacy through some awful behavior in the future.
I still think France are the best team in the tournament but Argentina will feel they have momentum and can go all the way.
As much as I have to root for Morocco against France, an Argentina - Morocco final would be the dampest of damp squibs...but at least that would shatter the growing 'Qatar is problematic but this is a great WC' line of thinking.![]()
James Milner, for instance. Far less of a diva, and totally reliable. There’s other players out there that get my respect first.
It is; Messi is greater, end of story.I've always argued the Messi v Ronaldo argument was pointless
