Imagine being CR7 today lol
Winning World Cup is the ultimate dream. Doesn’t come close to winning leagues. And it was evident when Ronaldo walked off the pitch all alone when they lost to Morocco. To be fair him and Messi have won a hell of a lot in World football and I doubt Ronaldo is too upset. Messi won the World Cup that Ronaldo never has but Ronaldo has won in Europes three biggest leagues, whereas Messi never will. It’s all different metrics.

As a fan i myself will take Arsenal winning the league over England winning the WC. But of course players think differently. All that hardwork by them leads to getting selected for their national teams.Obviously depends on who is judging and is subjective I’d say. A lot of hard work shows into winning leagues and they are over a longer period but of course the World Cup is the ultimate at an international level. I’d take liverpool winning a league over seeing England win it in Qatar but of course others will have different dreams.
32? 48 I heard.Best work cup final I’ve seen in my lifetime, through it didn’t look that way for most of regular time. The only fly in the ointment is that it went to PKs and the shootout wasn’t even a good shoutout. I had no dog in this race and was thus able to enjoy it fully. Griezmann, who should have been a key player for France, was anonymous. The French defense were as shaky as we feared, though Upecamayo was immense in the late stages. The cameras focused on the taker during the final whistle to avoid the possibility of watching the Argentina players taunt their defeated opponents again; the TV folk were ready for that this time, though it didn’t happen.
Argentina are at the end of a cycle and managed to get over the line; France are still probably the best national team in the world and will have most of this team available for at least another cycle, probably more.
The GOAT debate is meaningless to me; what difference does it make which individual player is the best ever? Nobody can know anyway. With that being said, Messi is clearly among the all-time best and Mbappe could certainly join him at the rate he’s going.
On the non-footballing side, Qatar were a joke as hosts (‘why are workers dying?’ ‘Well, death is a part of life’), FIFA are an irretrievably corrupt organization and the US coverage on Fox was fawningly craven. When are people going to finally tire of that boob Alexi Lalas? Worst American ‘pundit’ by a light year.
This World Cup underscored that football governance is completely, utterly broken. Now they’re talking about a 32 -team Club World Cup. Does greed have no limit?
Yup. Come on Arsenal 💪🏻.32? 48 I heard.
As a neutral I enjoyed the game. But I’d have been gutted if I was French to come back twice and then still lose.
Anyway 8 more days and the PL kicks off. Yay!
Lol. A colleague booked the day off for the same thing the year Liverpool finished second. I took the piss something chronic!Yup. Come on Arsenal 💪🏻.
Optimistic me have already booked a day off end of PL season for Victory parade.
Realistic me have already booked a day off end of PL season for time out with family in the Capital.
Disgraceful. We saw two wonderful things in the final, today.
Obviously, Messi finally getting his World Cup at the sunset of his incredible career, but the real highlight for me (and I am sure for many) was this:

Amen, something one can say about sports in the larger sense. On the non-footballing side, Qatar were a joke as hosts (‘why are workers dying?’ ‘Well, death is a part of life’), FIFA are an irretrievably corrupt organization and the US coverage on Fox was fawningly craven.
