The question is, what Middle Eastern entity could buy Manchester United if the Glazers bail? I think there is only one candidate: DP World, one of the biggest seaport authority companies in the world.

Isn't Michael Knighthood rumoured to be planning a hostile take over
Tuchel and Conte both should be given a longer touchline ban. Shameful!

I dunno, it was a London derby with an edge. I don't think we should be excessively punishing people for expressing passion/emotion as long as its not personal, or physical assault.

Spurs really rode their luck and got away with one. Still have an unconvincing midfield.

Chelsea, same ol same ol...need a striker.

Agree completely.

They are adults, - not teenagers, and not immature young men, who are still struggling with unexpected fame, stress, wealth and the weight of expectations - and, moreover, they both hold a position of considerable responsibility, in terms of their teams, in terms of being a role model, not just to spectators, but also to the teams they currently coach and lead.

All square in London and Tuchel and Conte squared up themselves and earned a couple reds.

They are grown men and behaved embarrassingly, but I'd suggest putting this tiff in perspective - modern football managers are literally thrust out on to a stage - they are set up like marionette buffoons dancing around in a little patch of grass (what's so 'technical' about the technical area??) with tens of thousands of people screaming them during a high-stakes athletic contest they are nominally directing, and they know they're performing for an audience of millions of punters.

Within that context such behavior, while not excusable, is at least perfectly understandable. In the dark world we live in today a little shouting match is small potatoes...it's not as if they are poisoning our environment, rigging elections, starting wars or issuing religious assassination decrees. So give them a little slap on the wrist and hopefully they'll have sufficient decency to be ashamed of themselves about it. Meanwhile it generates some good podcast content for my morning commute tomorrow.

Well, it would be owned by a shell corporation like City Football Group that was in turn owned by a series of other corporations claimed to be totally unconnected to any government through which money could be laundered from further corporations, governments, or individuals to fund the purchase and running of the club.

With that sort of arrangement, as recent history is shown, virtually any one or any group can buy an English football club, and in some cases it's nearly impossible to trace the real wealth or power behind the many false fronts.

Meanwhile in MLS...

Cucho Hernandez scores again, though the Crew only managed a 1-1 draw away at Colorado. Fifth place in the East with 10 games to go, so there is still a lot to play for.

Can't believe nobody is talking about Saints massive comeback against a hungry looking Leeds side.
Second half changes made all the difference. It looks like Ralph has earned a stay of execution for another week or two.

Tough fixtures coming up though: Leicester away, Man U at home, then Chelsea, Wolves and Brentford.

If Man U are going to start winning, it's likely going to start with us. I'm hoping they are completely destroyed, from a morale perspective by the time we play them and we can pull on their ragged edges and slip in a cheeky 6-3 win that they can blame on the colour of their shirts, but I think I am just living in an alternate universe.
I have a feeling they'll be bouncing back by then.

Well I'm not complaining about the season so far. Ipswich top of League 1 & Norwich bottom of the Championship 😁

We've made a very good start to the League season (Ignoring the League Cup). We really need to be getting out of League 1 this season with the money the American owners are putting into our club.

2 more wins this week would be lovely!

SOTON have a good squad but i feel Ralph just isn't getting the best out of them and i would be surprised if he lasts this season.

Are people figuring out how to play LFC, is Mane's absence being felt, or a LFC just taking their time to get up to speed.

Eitherway two points from 2 supposedly easier games raises eye brows

I think it’s too early to hit the panic button. If they had kept 11 men on the pitch they would probably have pushed on for the win.
But 4 dropped points must give the advantage to City. Even this early.

No, not quite.

Yes, it - football - is not the same as wars, civil wars, famine, drought, rigging elections, issuing religions assassination decrees, environmental disasters and ecological horrors, (and I have uncomfortably close experience - professionally - with more than a few items on that list), it is still an extraordinarily wealthy and exceptionally popular sport, one with global appeal and reach. That means that what happens on - or beside - the pitch is not confined to that space at that time, but will be broadcast well beyond that.

Moreover, whatever about the challenges facing gifted and talented (if immature) teenagers suddenly thrust into a whole new world of fame and fortune, youngsters who may well struggle to control their tempers when the stakes are high in a football game where they are active participants as players, managers are adults, some of them mature adults, the kind of adults that Americans might describe as "grown ass men", who coach, mentor and lead their respective teams, and - to my mind - it ill behoves them to show such a lack of self-restraint.

I suppose I'm somewhat old-school on such matters: The old idea that if you cannot control yourself, you shouldn't be in control of others.

Man City will no doubt dominate, but how could they not?

Saha's goal this morning, despite being against the run of play, was a thing of beauty and the Palace squad lifted as a result. When Saha is on, he's really on. Trouble is, if he has a bad game, the rest of the team do, too - which is why Palace are never more than mid-table.

Liverpool dominated large swathes of that game, but looked like they were only ever going to draw or lose today, in my opinion. VVD didn't look himself and Darwin's headbutt was a clear sign of how he was feeling...frustrated, despite actually playing fairly well and coming close a number of times as well as generally bothering the defence from time to time.
It'll take time to build partnerships like those formed by Mane and the the other forwards. Once they click, they'll be more dangerous.

But if they did falter, Arsenal would be the team most likely to take advantage. I’ve got them down for third this year behind City and Pool.
Unless of course Chelsea can buy a top class striker.
I am guardedly optimistic about Arsenal this season.

Barring serious injury to key players (which can happen to anyone), and notwithstanding the Guardian's predictions (fifth again), I think that it is entirely possible that we may actually secure Champion's League qualification this season.

I can’t disagree. In the grand scheme of things it’s not that important, but as I said, it’s still unseemly and entirely inexcusable behavior. While I think some have overreacted in their calls for punishment, neither manager can really complain regardless what the FA hands them and they probably deserve worse.

Was disappointed to see that my favourite Scottish team had been relegated this season...no longer will I be able to follow the Highland League and the exploits of the self-proclaimed "Worst Team in British Football", Fort William FC.
They're now plying their trade in the North Caledonian League after coming 18th out of 18 in the Highland League and picking up just about no points over the last few seasons.

I'd love to see The Sons adopt these kits:

In Scotland, for some strange reason, (and not just because I used to be an academic, but rather, as a child, I loved the strange sound of the name when I used to listen to the football results being read out on the radio, especially when they were read aloud in a Scottish accent), I must admit that I am rather partial to Hamilton Academicals.
