Sept. 2007: The fat nano.

It may have been "uglier" than the current nano but I love how it fits perfectly in the secret pocket in my jeans so I can keep it around all the time without even noticing. I've sold two of the more recent generation ones (one was a gift and the other I won as a door prize) because they don't fit. Sometimes the beauty is in the functionality.

Didn't Apple file a patent for a touchscreen back? Maybe that's why the phone has to be glass on both sides.

Why would it need to have glass on the back for registering input when plastic would have done as well? Besides, given all we have seen it's higly unlikely.

Or send Giz a cease and desist letter. I bet you this article is pulled before COB today. Of course, the damage is already done.

That would be damage control for sure.

But having the pictures pulled only proves 100% that the phone is legit. If they let them stay up, there will be people doubting it until June 22. If they pull the pictures, its real, because why would they issue a C&D on something that isn't an Apple product.

The real proof, out of anything, is that it uses micro-sim. No knock off or KIRF or anything else is going to be using that.

Am I the only one that thinks the "new" design is AWESOME looking?

I am sick of these blobbish-looking apple products, I would love to see some sharp lines and angles on some stuff!

exactly. I LOVE this design. I hate the ultra-curvy stuff that the mac fans seem to love so much. Then again, I loved the ZuneHD design which got pretty bashed here on MR ;)

Not to mention I wouldnt be complaining about 16% larger battery, removable or not

Having seen the video I'm certain that it's real. The only thing I dislike are the seams and the microSIM.

If the images are real, its probablly the verizon version :p
we always gets screwed when it comes to phones

I feel really sorry for the guy who lost this. Jobs, himself, must be performing a castration on him.

I really like it too. Looks more modern and mature than my 3GS. I just hope it has the A4 processor.

Highly doubt it. Issuing a C&D basically confirms that it is real, defeating the whole purpose. As is, we are left guessing until its announced.

IF that is the 4th iPhone that someone lost, I miss the old days of rumors, come june 22nd, I might be disappionted not to get the "wow"-feeling when the new phone is announced, now it might be like, "yeah yeah, a new iPhone, we all know what it looks like" ;)

The curves on the earlier iPhone were better for ergonomics and for sexiness. Like sports cars, it look like it was going 150mph while standing still.

How can you say the design isn't Apple? I'm sitting here looking at the edge of my iPad...square brushed aluminum....same on my iMac. To me this is a great functional design...the buttons are really the departure from the Apple norm. However, it is a prototype and we don't know how old it is. If it isn't Apple it should be.

sexiness? I guess well have to agree to disagree, I vastly prefer the new design. The Gizmodo article seems to indicate that the phone feels fine.

It's ok to disagree on design. I've read the Gizmodo article and certainly love the Braun products from Dieter Rams (Ive's role model) but I look at design from a point of evolution and not a constant that never changes when perceived perfection is reached.

My 3G feels perfect in my hand while I'm making this post btw.

Yeah ok. The merger of major European nations and the end of their significance as individual sovereign nations isn't 1984...sure, k, keep the dream alive, I guess.

Merger? Credibility fail.

merger
noun
a pending merger between two oil companies: amalgamation, combination, union, fusion, coalition, affiliation, unification, incorporation, consolidation, link-up, alliance. ANTONYMS split.

Why fail?

The Back of the HD/4G

Does anyone remeber the patent from Apple, that made the surface of "a handheld device" Apart from the screen Touch-Sensetive?

if the back is really made out of Glass it COULD be Touch sensitive

really?

Either this is a really good "fake" from another country, or this is a rough mockup, I can't see apple releasing that terrible design. Looks like a Nokia or Samsung. I wouldn't get one with those tacky buttons either. Thats one of the pleasures of a iPhone and/ or iPod touches; sleek, almost flush buttons, if any.

Not sure if this was stated before (did not have time to read all 18+ pages in this thread), but what's to say this is not a "test" casing, made for easy access to the battery so the tester can swap batteries to gauge which battery is best. I have to believe Apple tests out multiple battery designs and a case like this is needed to make the testing efficient, so the tester does not have to crack open the case every time to test out a different battery. Just a thought...
