Apple cranks up the hype machine for something a little more exciting than iPod Socks. Kind of reminds me of the 2007 announcement of the Apple Hi-Fi.

I'll never forget where I was when I heard this news.

Was it worth putting up a message saying that we would "never forget" today for this?

I don't get it. Even if it was my favourite band ever appearing on iTunes, it still wouldn't be a day I would never forget.

Is that it? Really? What a massive let down.

All the negative votes. Even if you don't think this is that big a deal, front page news, the day that you'll never forget or any of that, anyone who likes music, who has liked bands from Nirvana to Aerosmith to The Stone Roses, etc., this is the band that changed the face of music and made pushing the boundaries cool.

And while I'm pretty young and The Beatles is not my generation, I think all the comments from the children here just speak to the state of our culture today.

Hats off Steve. Glad to see the box set and all the iTunes LPs, though it is unfortunate that Apple Records made this such a long haul.

Apple spent so little on marketing, why would you all expect anything more than "The Beatles?"

I mean come on, they put up a phrase on their home page. There was no event, no week long suspense, nothing.

Todays results are in line with the marketing. Its a simple catch phrase that was overanalyzed (as usual) on MR, and other blogs.

Now, back to ripping my beatles cd's :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C134 Safari/6533.18.5)

Lame

Well its certainly another way for Beatles fans to get hold of their music. For the rest of us though its a bit overblown. iPhone release was a day to remember. This… not so much

It's like the moon landing.

I'll always remember the day Volkswagen bought the iTunes Store with four New Beetles.

I do wish Apple would make lossless versions available, even at higher cost (ala Musiczeit, what artists can choose todo on Bandcamp, etc.).

This doesn't feel like purchasing The Beatles collection, to me, if it's lossy. Not exactly the Beatles purchase of a lifetime. Boo.

All my Beatles music is ripped in ALAC. Any missing songs would NOT be downloaded in lossy format. My wife is less concerned with lossless, so she has spent maybe 10-15 songs in the last year. I only download the free weekly songs. I may have paid for one or two songs but only because I did not want the entire album.

I'm disappointed by this.

Really... Really...

Sounds like someones personal agenda playing this out. Is this really that important? I happen to like the Beatles so I loaded them from discs and a usb drive they sold a while back. Because they are for sale in I=iTunes is way less than news worthy!?!

Here's Apple.com's homepage.

I dont even know why people care about this. Here's and idea, go to kickasstorrents.com or any other torrent search engine for that matter, and search for the beatles albums. Boom, no DRM, and no retarted ~$150 price tag.

Good for those who like the Beatles.
Big score for Jobs.
If I were a fan I'd be excited too.
...but I'm not.

$270 Aust (Getting screwed big time) for a box set i bought yonks ago and ripped to my computer.

Pathetic.

Seriously Pathetic.
