I would like to see the whole front become the screen and do away with the top and bottom black borders. I think this is the only real drastic adjustment apple could make in terms of physical design. What other form could they possible have when they have the most simplistic form out there.

I think they could remove the home button and just add a gesture to get to the home page or better yet the bottom black border area can be used like how the dock is used on the Macs. If you have too many items in the docks just swipe your finger and scroll through them.

I would also like to see the following

- 32/64 GB ( this is prob a given)

- Faster processor/faster 3g/4g speeds

- Better camera, i know everyone is fighting over MP/lens/optics etc. I just want a camera that can takes pictures at night and in clubs. I dont want to be a photographer just something serviceable in those conditions and ill be happy.

- I would like a better resolution for the screen. Brighter Colors.

- ichat would be great but its not a deal breaker.

- Better battery would be nice. I dont need it replaceable my 2g is closing in on the 900 day mark and the battery, knock on wood, is still going well.

- Better organization features for the home screens. I would like a dock, similar to macs, and have the rest of the screen for pictures or possible widgets. Back to the home screen, it would be cool if it can also act like an alert screen, tell me whats on my schedule for the day, weather, how many IM's, Texts, and emails are new etc.

- Louder speakers for calls and rings. 2G is pretty low

- Better reception, too many dropped calls. Might be due to 2G Aluminum back.

DISCLAIMER I never had a jail broken phone so maybe some of these features are available for it. I also own a 2G so maybe some of these features have gotten better on later models.

4.0 for tablet?

Has anyone thought that in fact the iPhone OS 4.0 (rumored to be in test now) is in fact initially for the Tablet ? The fact that we're hearing of evidence in log files of its existence in test already might mean that in fact the device using 4.0 was the new tablet and NOT the new iPhone for 2010.

You realize that some things you mentioned are already in the 3Gs? :p

I don't really have time to read 10 pages of this :p.

So, pardon me if this has been mentioned already.

I think Apple will change the Photo's app name to something else; possibly Multimedia? I mean, now that the 3GS can take videos and all..

Really? I think it is perfect right now. Easy and simple to use. The only major UI change I can see happening is the addition of a file hierarchy of some sorts.

how about a status bar notifier (like fb maybe) instead of those annoying popups? that way you can continue what you're doing, and check your texts and emails at your own pace.

Ooh, I'll bite.

640x480 screen. So while Apple and everyone is moving to wider screens on more products, Apple will suddenly make a 'square' screen?

1 Ghz of Ram. No comment.

Gamepad addon. That's not part of the iPhone. But these are already in developement.

IR. TV. Handy, in the rare situation, but no thanks. I don't need more bulk, and more junk crowding the inside of my phone.

Also, people who care about these specs are a very small minority of all possible iPhone purchasers. Apple is would rather make stuff work, and make sure that if they include new features that people would know how to take advantage of it. Features for the sake of features really only caters for the small minority.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL 1 Ghz RAM!!!!! :rolleyes::eek::eek::eek:

Steady on, we've still got 800Mghz in desktops!

What? Might as well throw out the camera as well, as it adds so much "bulk" to inside of your phone? As technology evolves it's only natural for electronics to become smaller and smaller. I personally would love to see an IR port on an iPhone because it would be useful for controlling your computer, TV, AC unit, and any plethora of devices that have an IR receiver. Do you really not see the potential for such an implementation? At the very least, it shouldn't be ousted because it "crowds" the inside of your phone. If there is free space, use it!

I like your style of thinking.

I would like to have an extra physical button. Yes i know Steve would have a heart attack. I would like to have a camera button on the side, most logically on the right side at the bottom. This would be a quick launch to the camera and would be MUCH easier to actually take pictures than using the virtual button. I mean if they are going to up the camera to 5.0MP and maybe even a flash, we need something like this.

In addition to adding camera capabilities, I think this button could be accessed by developers within apps to use for various features (such as pulling up a menu, etc). I think that would be most helpful.

u can set the home button double click to open ur camera.

If I got to pick 10 new features, this would be my final list:

1. New design (please bring back aluminum!)
2. iChat (meaning a front-facing camera with video conferencing)
3. Upgraded camera (video as well) with flash
4. Drastic battery improvements
5. Multitasking
6. Ability to change color of SMS blurbs like you can on Macs in iChat
7. Messaging light
8. Flash support
9. Improved call quality (speakerphone quality as well)
10. Improved screen resolution with more colors, more vivid

A native lockscreen/intelliscreen app that doesn't bog the phone down like the former do.

A new ringer profile that allows vibrate and ring at the same time, like my cheap Nokia did 10 years ago.

A gps datalogger that syncs via Bluetooth to my dslrs for geotagging.

A native app that allows me to set a schedule for my phone. By that I mean: turn on at 7am, set ringer to loud from, 7-8, set ringer to silent from 8-12, set ringer to vibrate and loud from 12-1, etc, etc, etc.

Check the sound section under settings. Very easy to set the phone up to ring and vibrate at the same time..

Wow I guess I never registered on the fact that it does vib and ring at the same time. My mistake. I guess I was reminiscing of my old blackberry days. How about I change that wish to a little stronger vibrate then.

Japanese handwriting recognition, PLEASE. The Chinese handwriting recognition works for a lot of Japanese characters, but not for all. There are some really nice apps for studying Japanese that would benefit from this, and electronic dictionaries with handwriting recognition screens are very popular here. It wouldn't take much to add.

Ill agree with you on that, don't miss many phone calls, but texts ill not look at right away because i never felt the vibrate

Things I would like to see:

A projector: this would be awesome I could run presentations or just play around with videos.

Better theft protection: something to dissuade my phone from being stolen again... iPhones are the most stolen device out there, part of this is because it is really easy for people to just make it their own. At least if they offered insurance on the iPhone they would care more about the problem.

display

after playing with the nexus one, i think it needs a better display. at least for video playback, the nexus had much richer colors than my iphone 3g.
