iphone

i just got my new iphone 3gs:)...its music sound is really awesome..i'm a security freak, i want to make sure that if i loose my phone, that the iphone-smart thief wont be able to turn off location services or any of the like which will allow me to find him.therefore, i want a software update to be able to lock certain settings with a passcode (preferably different than the one used to unlock the phone) so the thief can't disable my ability to find him.hope my new iphone give me best service

I'm sure some were mentioned previously...but

front facing camera for iChat
better quality camera
better battery life
inconspicuous notification lights on front of phone (two to three lights...one for email, one for text, one for missed call/voicemail. ideally only visible when they're lit up) and maybe the ability to adjust whether email, text, missed call, mms, etc triggers these lights

lol all those are all on the list in the OP

So...
Does the very first post miss something? Have I missed some rumors (last part of the post)?

Have I missed some OS 4.0 wishes (second part of the post)?

And have I missed some iPhone 4th gen. wishes (first part of the post)?

uh, if you want inconspicuous, you def don't want 3 lights. wouldn't one light be enough since it can have different colors? ala BBs.

Rules and junkmail filtering for the Mail.app, synchronized with the mail app, has long been on my wishlist.

I'm also a fan of gesture recognition, which I feel is a promising technology and possibly the next wave after multitouch. I'm actually hoping that this will be the surprising UI feature in the tablet which has been rumored and that it will be incorporated into the next version of OS X through use of the Mac's built in iSight webcam. An iPhone with a front facing camera would also benefit from this type of technology.

Apologies if this has already come up but whats the expected cost?
The iPhone 4G will probably NOT have a higher price then the current 32 GB iPhone 3Gs (Apple is always like 'should be buy-able for all people').

If its got half of whats on the first post I'd expect it to be £300 minimum on an 18 month contract.

I don't know how much in pounds, but I'm pretty sure they won't ask more for it (at least not in the USA - and I believe there's a policy of Apple that the price of the iPhone will not become higher than the price in the USA, in combination with a contract).

Will be interesting to see, I was going to hold out for the 4G but thought the 3GS was a nice upgrade from a 2G and by the time I've had it a year (Dec 2010) the 4G will be more affordable.

You know,

I'd like to have dedicated playlist editing in the iPod app. Not too much, just the ability to name a playlist, and not be stuck with just the On The Go playlist. Song tagging for later review (i.e. Listening to an album for the first time, and tag it, so that later, after finishing the album, I could be alerted, listen again, and decide if I want to send it to the playlist I fall asleep to) A "send to playlist" button.

Don't think this has been mentioned in this thread yet, but I feel it's something that's been missing for a long time... I mean, really? We can play Crash Bandicoot on our phones, but we can't name a playlist?

Will add it to the main post, like this;

- New iPod app: what about deleting a song, or naming playlists?

Apart from the obvious suggestions (stacks/folders for apps) I'd really like to see some multitouch gestures from the Macs brought across. Such as two finger for scrolling webpages (the number of times I try scrolling with a finger and accidentally click a link or bring up the cutcopypaste option), three finger scrolling (up/down to skip to the top/bottom and left/right for backwards/forwards). Also, from the home screen, tapping any sort of icon to do with radios in the top bar (signal strength, GPRS/Edge/3G/wifi indicator, bluetooth) opens a "Radio toggle" screen where 3G, wifi, GPS and bluetooth can quickly be toggled on and off.

I hope the sound quality of the iPod functionality is better, Cowon tramples over Apple for mp3 quality.

I haven't read all 12 pages so I don't know if this has been mentioned...

But I have a feeling that we will see at least a developer preview of iPhone OS 4.0 on the January 26th Event.

- Customizable lock screen
- Improved Speed and Stability
- Screen Rotation Lock
- Completely redesigned home screen
- Flash support
- Redesigned Safari UI
- Improved Wi-Fi speed
- Better battery life on existing devices

Some of these things are already available

I'm a developer myself and have activated a lot of these features myself as far as the current OS will allow of course.

If there is a new Apple tablet and if it will be announced on the 26th/27th of January, than we also might get a sneak peak of OS 4.0 (assuming the Tablet is running on the iPhone OS, just like the iPod Touch).

And maybe with a little bit luck also something about the iPhone 4G (the event is about 'portable devices').

So, the Nexus One is out. Are there any specific features you want the iPhone to have as well?

I would like to be able to lock apps, have indicator lights, fm receiver, be able to make playlists...also, being able to label the pages would be pretty nifty.

I'm really going to get greedy...I'd like MMS that works more than 2% of the time. I really wish the phone would come to Sprint (no flames please). I'm one of the weird ones that carries two phones. I love the iphone for everything but a phone and carry a separate one to make phone calls too.

Also, an overhaul of itunes would be awesome.
