those are some pretty hefty requests. 64GB? 1GHz? not sure how likely those are, or the front facing camera

I just want flash (both kinds), better battery, OLED would be nice, new body design too

It's not impossible to have 64GB, 5 megapixel camera with flash and Apple's custom chip.

I highly doubt that there'll be OLED, flash for Safari or a front-facing camera.

I singulary want a killer main camera 5MP or better with excelent image quality its the only reason I still use a N95

I want the 5.0 mp camera with a macro shots and black n white features. I'd like to see Video camera with intro and exiting features but thats asking to much. But i guess a 3.8'' LED Screen and a 5MP will do just fine. Oh and i want an app called "Lockdown" i feel naked without it and I dont like JB my phone for just this one app.

I would like to be able to grab photos from my photo library within the email app. When I decide to email photos to someone, the first place I always go to is email, not the photo library... I find it so annoying, I always forget and it gets me every time...

+1, it's especially a PITA when uploading or emailing a picture to Twitpic:mad:

Not sure if this has been posted yet but I want a new silence button, the current one is a pain because its constantly hitting other things in my pocket and moving. Maybe just a setting that overrides the button would be enough for me.

I also want most of the things that have been mentioned.

Personally I think the obvious choices are higher resolution screen, 64GB, faster wireless, faster processor. It would make sense to dramatically improve the camera as well.

Given our preview of iPad though, I can see a major change being software. Was I the only one who found it a bit strange that Apple released the new iPad with a huge blank space in the middle of the lockscreen and tiny icons with loads of space on the appscreens?

I think the UI will change a great deal with this next update and iPad will also get a lot of the UI changes. I'm expecting multi-touch gestures to navigate, lockscreens full of info, perhaps a new home-panel giving an overview of updates, quick access menus.

I think the form factor will be similar with a few tweaks. Maybe a black bezel. :)

I agree with you, I have to keep checking my phone to make sure it is either on or off vibe because it keeps changing. :(

What I REALLY want. I want an WiFi WHITE LIST. Let me add to the white list as I want then STOP POPPING UP JOINING Networks if they aren't on the white list! So many times that damn "Join Network" pops up when I am no where near one of my standard networks. I don't want to be bothered unless I say, show me networks.

I'm content with the form factor of the iPhone. The only physical change I wouldn't mind seeing is a higher resolution screen. I want their to be a complete overhaul of the OS though. Multitasking of some sort is a must, or else I'm jumping ship. At least let us run 1 app in the background at a time, that's all most people would ever need.

Another big must for me is the use of profiles for controlling notifications. It's outrageous how much they limit us in that aspect. And they are trying to compete as a business phone? Yeah right.

I jailbreak my iPhone just to get back some of the functionality that I believe should be included in every current phone, but I don't want to have to jailbreak anymore for this. It's a pain having to research how and when to jailbreak and then having to redo it every time a new update is out.

Go into your WIFI settings and set "Ask to Join networks" Off. It will connect to your known networks and will not ask you about anything else.

So turn off Ask to Join Networks. That will do exactly what you're wanting. Then if you want to see what networks are available, go to Settings > WiFi

Too bad apple does what it wants, instead of listening to what their customers want! Why would they? It's not like we overpay for every single one of their products.

Apple does listen to majority of it's customers. Just not the 5% gadget heads who roam the internet. :D

What about Bluetooth 3.0 and what about Samsung's Super Amoled screen?

Multiple reports about that Super Amoled display, so who knows... (Apple reportedly has a deal with Samsung about OLED displays).

Super Amoled is thinner than normal displays, very nice bright colours, much more clearer in sunlight than other (AM)OLED screens etc. etc.

Things you desperately want in OS 4.0.

Hey Rumor-ers:

Thought I'd start a thread on the things that you'd DESPERATELY like to see in OS 4.0. Limit your list to three things.

Mine are as follows: Multitasking, Android-style notifications, UI redesign.

I agree with your list although I think if we are lucky, we might get one new useful feature like that. No way they could get that much work done in a years time. They are some slow, overly careful coders there.

I would like better notifications

I shouldnt have to unlock the phone to see if I have an email for example.

Especially as im paying for mobileme!

Thats about it really..... hmmm, maybe some better app management.

It doesn't really matter what I want, they've already done what they're going to. If they don't raise the bar high enough, I will consider other phones. AT&T is getting several android phones, it will be interesting to see how they stack up.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Differnent email signatures for different accounts
multitasking
lock screen email notifications
whatever security crap will satisfy my employer that I should be able to get rid of my blackberry. :p

actually; I'd settle for just the last one.

I think whatever we see this year they've been working on for more than a year. I honestly don't believe it took them a year to add MMS, copy/paste, and video for 3.0. My thinking is one group was working on tying up the loose ends that 2.0 was missing for the 3.0 release, while another has been working on the big features they'll debut in 4.0.

That's my hope anyway, because the iPhone platform is really starting to look stale these days.

Trust me, I really hope you are right. I've just been getting my hopes up about apple products the last couple years and each time have been disappointed. This time I'm going in with very low expectations and hoping I'm proven wrong.

- New, redesigned springboard/home screen
- Redesigned system for notifications
- Apple GPS navigation app with turn by turn directions and lane guidance
- Local notifications
- Dashboard widgets
- System-wide voice recognition, revamped Voice Control (make it easier to activate, it’s a PITA to hold down the home button in the car)
- Multi-tasking (even if the App has to be certified for it)
- Facebook integration
- 720p output with TV menu system (like Zune HD, apparently the 3GS has the hardware to support this)
- AirSpeakers support for iPod app
- Over the air via Apple’s servers firmware updates
- Over the air via Wi-fi syncing with iTunes
- Support for Bluetooth keyboard profile
- Ability to turn off landscape mode
- Ability to minimize streaming QuickTime audio and multi-task in Safari
- Ability to turn off the annoying “This device is not made for the iPhone.” message per device.

Productivity

I think anything that makes the phone more productive is the key. And you guys have hit that on the head. Info on the lock screen, usable notifications; and Apple should be able to get multitasking with the new iphone. They're running out of excuses at this point.
Oh and ability to turn off landscape mode--it frustrates trying to read in bed.
