People in Japan swap contact cards with their infrared. Might be pretty cool if everyone with an iPhone could do that.
I want it to teach people how to multi-quote.

a Iphone that comes with a App that teaches people how too SEARCH!about 50 people beat you to this topic!
Hey I got one....
An iphone that comes with an App that answers this questions: Am I an A**hole?
A way to officially jailbreak it in iTunes would be awesome
Im not really responding to anyone in particular, but the list on the first post is looking really good.
I just wrote a blog post about what i think/hope will be in the new iPhone 4G and the new iPhone OS 4.0. Heres the Summary of all the features i talked about in my post, and their likelihood. For more analysis on each feature goto the actual blog post: http://blogs.windwardreports.com/adamm/2009/12/iphone-os-40-iphone-4g-rumors-wishlist.html
For Sure:
More memory
Better screen (maybe OLED)
New case design
Likely:
Flash Support
Better Lock screen (home screen)
Multi-tasking
Overhaul the Email App (Unified Inbox)
Front facing Camera
Maybe:
Application Sharing
File Management/Document Generation
Springboard Expose/Spaces
Unlikely:
Bigger Screen
Themes and Wallpapers for Springboard
After seeing the list thats going on here Ill probably write a new post talking about some of the things i left out.
--------------------------------------------------------
Don't forget custom designed CPU Based on ARM architecture by Apples PA semi team. Probably be dual core possibly quad!!! as the design scales upto 16 cores.
Your right about the battery life but i think this will come more from power savings from new energy efficient CPU and OLED screen.
Would really like to see a Unibody Aluminium design like the new Imacs, also looks like new Iphone will have and RFID chip for mobile payments and other functions this can provide.
Good point about the cpu. After completing my list i realized that I sortof glossed over what the actual hardware would be. So im working on another post that talks about stuff like the cpu, and all the other ideas that ive now seen but didnt talk about.
If someone here knows alot the nitty gritty of the iphone hardware. If Apple enables multitasking, disregarding performance differences, would a dual core ARM cpu use less power than a single core cpu when running multiple apps ? What about flash ?
Does anyone know how a cellphone could potentially deal with flash, on the hardware side of things ? Do they make standalone chips that do just flash type processing ?
Flash 10 works perfect on mobile phones, some say even better than on computers (so both PCs or Macs).Dual cores should help improve battery life and Adobe is trying to work with hardware manufacturers to improve Flash performance. It doesn't really make a difference as Apple has taken a stand against Flash and I can't blame them. Flash runs like crap on the Mac and I wouldn't expect it to run much better on a cellphone.
How about that feature called staying connected to a call and not dropping due to horrid cellular service. ( Damn you AT&T... )

And if you think it's crap, than you should just turn it off (if it ever will be available).
Yes, next years version.Do you mean the version of Flash that won't be around 'til next year and we don't know how it will perform? If you're talking about the current version of Flash for mobile phones then you don't know what you're talking about.
Yes Flash is garbage and I use Click2Flash to not have to deal with the crap unless necessary.
Check out the last video on Engadget's review of the HTC Hero when using Flash:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/23/htc-hero-review/
Following the video they said this:
"So Flash is kind of a big deal on new smartphones. The iPhone doesn't have it, the Pre doesn't have it, BlackBerry devices don't have it... but the Hero does. Unfortunately, in our testing, we found the inclusion actually hurts operation of the phone more than it helps. When browsing to a site heavy on Flash (there are many), the browser loading times were abysmal. Furthermore, trying to view videos in-window produced choppy, nearly unwatchable results. You may have a better experience with lighter kinds of content, but in our opinion the main reason to introduce Flash into a mobile environment is to allow for broader media viewing options, and in the current state of this Flash player, you're not really going to get much mileage out of it."
I'd like to know who it is that says that Flash performs better on a phone with a small fraction of the processing power of a desktop.
Yes, next years version.
Maybe you once want to search for "Palm Pre flash" on YouTube. It runs pretty smooth on that device.
