The CANADA iPhone 5 Pre-Order STATUS Thread!

I dont think so.

My order went through at exactly 12:00am and i'm still "Preparing for Shipment". I'm thinking there are a few reasons for this.
1. They are leaving from one of the US stockpiles most likely in Illinois.
2. No point in giving out tracking info yet, it will just cause Fedex a headache in calls and emails.

I'm confident it will arrive on friday (in Vancouver) the same thing happened with my 4s last year. I got it at 10:00am on the Friday.

Hope this is true because if they haven't shipped out from China on a Monday slim chances we'd get them on Friday... So hopefully they are coming from the US

Hi all:

Has anyone in Ottawa been successful in locating a Rogers store with nano sims for early purchase?

Thanks,

e.

Rideau Centre has them but won't sell them. I'll check Bank and Albert after work.

The guy at the Rideau centre was being pretty obnoxious about not selling them.

The Canadian phones won't ship FedEx they come UPS. You should start seeing tracking numbers Tuesday. For people in Ontario they will hit Hamilton on Thursday they come in on skids and UPS will break the skids down and send them to Toronto Thursday night and out from there on Friday. If you live in Hamilton or surrounding areas they will ship right from Hamilton on Friday.

How do i know this? I have pre ordered every iPhone and ipad and they always come the same way. With the ipad3 it didn't get tracking until Tuesday and the ipad showed up first thing Friday. Still lots of time to get them to us from China.

Anyone with Virgin Mobile checked to see if they have nano SIMs?

Virgin posted on Facebook that nano sims are available at their kiosks and at The Source stores. I'm planning on checking at The Source either today or tomorrow to see if I can get one early.

I ordered a 64GB unlocked iPhone 5 from Apple's website on Sept 14 around 3:20am EST, order lists as "delivers 9/21-9/25".

Anyhow, I just got back from the Apple Store at Toronto Eaton Centre... was asking about availability of nano sims. The employee said "you are aware the orders don't actually ship until the 21st, right? You won't be getting the iPhone this Friday".

Yet Apple's website says different:

http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/overlay/iphone/shipping

... i'm in delivery zone 1.

It doesn't matter to me if it comes Friday, Monday or Tuesday, but... is the guy at the Apple store 'out in left field' on this one? He's saying the opposite of what Apple's site says.

I could understand other stores not having their facts straight, but thought the Apple store would.

Hi guys,

I need some clarification. Are the Telus and Rogers iPhone 5s the exact same in terms of model number/hardware/etc.? I am thinking about getting a Telus carrier locked iPhone 5 and unlocking it to use on the Rogers carrier. Thank you.

In my case, i started my Contract in June of this year with a Android HTC One X phone on Rogers. It would have cost me the SAME if I would have took a Rogers-Locked iphone 5. So I can see people in my situation taking the Unlocked one too. After selling my 3-4 months old HTC One X for 400$ (minus 129$ i paid for it), it bring the cost down to 530$ for my 32GB unlock which is a lot, but at least it's unlocked hehe.

Also, regarding the comment that you can pay 50$ anytime you want to unlock, it's not true on Rogers of Fido. You NEED to wait until the Contract is Over (36 months) or you need to pay the penalty fee to break the contract + 50$ to get the unlock. You end up paying 50$ MORE than a factory unlocked iPhone bought directly from Apple.ca. It may be different on Bell/Telus, I don't know their policy.

This. Except for me it was July of last year (when the 4s came out). To get the phone from Rogers right now would cost me about what I'm paying for an unlocked phone, plus, I would be locked in for another 3 years.

So for me, and many like me, it makes lots of sense to go the unlocked route.
Also, it will bring my contract closer to an end date which will allow me to engage Retentions in one of the more lucrative plans that some of you already have.

Just log back into www.rogers.com/myrogers and click the "Reserve" button for iPhone 5. It will bring up your "profile" and show you your current number, or "In Progress" if it's started the shipping phase.

Oh okay! Huzzah!! It started the shipping phase!!

I can't wait to hold this phone. I'm going to make the decompression sound effect when I open the lid.

Apple store employees aren't all geniuses. I've been in there and they sometimes come up with such BS its ridiculous but its always fun to call them on it and teach them a thing or two about what they didn't know.

Trust the Apple web site, Apple store employees no nothing about direct shipping times. If it says 'delivers', you'll get it Friday. Just be there to accept the package.

He's an uneducated peon. Fear not.

Rogers has changed their upgrade policy most people on contract less than a year have already been given free upgrades or ones start at around 60 bucks. call and check myrogers as well. my fee went from 170 to 0 over the weekend.

Glad I'm not the only one who's order's switched back and forth.

As of 10AM PDT on Monday, the order status has again switched from "Processing Items" to "Preparing for Shipment". Delivery to Vancouver.

As others have indicated, I get the feeling Canadian phones will ship from the USA.

Why would that be the case, when it seems most of the US customers are getting phones from China?

Clint

Because the phone probably won't "ship" until tomorrow or Wednesday and there's no chance it gets to the west coast from China by Friday. But who knows!

I've yet to find someone who pre-ordered before I did (I'm from Alberta), I'm still optimistic about Friday however.

If your order status says "Delivers 9/21-9/25" and you are the 21st delivery zone then you will get it on the 21st. UPS has been doing this for a couple of launches now and they have it down to a science. I wouldn't worry about it.

does anyone know how Bell is swapping SIM cards? I rmbr seeing someone mention apple store will give you a nano sim card to the carrier of your choice with no charge? Is that true?

I believe that the Apple Store will give a free nano sim (They gave me a free LTE micro sim for my iPad 3), some have mentioned that you need to bring your Unlocked iPhone 5 invoice but I don't know if there's any truth in that.

Otherwise you'd have to visit a Bell store and pay $10 for one,

Do I just go int the store and ask for one?

Yes and they went in the back and gave it to me for free, I don't know if that's the case this year but that's what happened a few months ago with my iPad.

Hey guys. So my story is pretty similar to everyone's here. I ordered from apple with confirmation at 307 am est. went to prep for shipping yesterday.

BUT today I got my invoice email from apple about 5 minutes ago and it states my phone was shipped on the 16th.

Also as a side note I had the lightning adapter on another order and I got that invoice today and it stated the adapter was shipped today the 17th. I got a shipment notice for the cable yesterday and tracking it via ups from china it did indeed ship on the 17th from there which would have been last night our time.

My phone still says prep for shipment, my guess is that they are just holding the info back for some reason.
