I'm trying not to complain too much, because Telus' preorder process was pretty painless compared to the Apple's and the other carriers I hear, but it would still be nice to know the progress of my order. And especially since I'm out in Alberta, if it's gotta go through the standard Louisville route, up through Ontario for distribution, then it would have to go out at the very latest today, no?

I'm trying not to complain too much, because Telus' preorder process was pretty painless compared to the Apple's and the other carriers I hear, but it would still be nice to know the progress of my order. And especially since I'm out in Alberta, if it's gotta go through the standard Louisville route, up through Ontario for distribution, then it would have to go out at the very latest today, no?
I spoke to Telus weborders today, the person I spoke with made it clear that the iPhone preorders wouldnt be sent out UNTIL the 21st. Apparently it doesn't matter at what time on the 14th you confirmed your pre-order, all phones will be shipped out at the same time.
Hopefully this person is wrong, and we receive shipping or tracking info by email soon.
My bet is, from prior Apple pre-orders is that these iPhones are already in Canada, and will go out by Tomorrow morning.
im not toooo concerned as im sure the phones will arrive on time.
what i do find interesting is that i ordered a black and a white 16g from apple website at 12:05, although, only one phone has been charge on my visa as of today. hrmmm interesting. both show same status and delivery dates though.

So essentially they're moving to local hubs but we won't having tracking info until the morning they're delivered on the 21st?
That's my bet.
I think almost everyone will get there phones on time, just like last year. Everyone that ordered from apple.ca is in the same boat "preparing for shipment". If most of the Canadian orders were shipping with tracking numbers from apple and yours wasn't that i'd be worried, but I don't think ALL of Canada will be late.

I know my local Telus reseller doesn't normally get them delivered until launch day and its pretty much whenever the courier drops it off which is late morning or early afternoon for them so it could be the same here for us
how about an official update on what is going on for preorders? its getting close to launch day & getting scary with no update

I ordered my white iPhone 64 GB on 1:23 AM Pacific time , It then said it will ship in 2 weeks. When i log on to Apple store to to see my order status it says this :

Available: 2 weeks
Delivers 9 Oct via Standard Shipping
So when do i expect to receive my phone ? Could this date be a mistake ? Has anyone had the same problem ?

The initial batch thats being sent out on launch day sold out within the first hour. So it looks like you are in the second batch, shipping Oct. 9th. Everyone who is getting it on launch day has "9/21-9/25" as their delivery date.
What's your status now? mine is still "in progress"

Depends on store and time but I would imagine so!
I hope you're right, but no one really can know that for a fact (unless you work for UPS/Fedex/Apple, then maybe)

I have the same issue and I ordered from Bell. They said they will send confirmation once its been shipped. They told me all phones ship out the 21st as well...

Ordered on/Email Confirmation: September 14, 3:07 EST
Shipping to: Toronto
AppleCare+?: Yes (not that it matters. Worth noting the charges between the iPhone and AppleCare+ are on two separate charges).
Current Status (as of this posting): Preparing for Shipment, since early Saturday afternoon.
Credit Card Charged?: Yes, on September 17 for $1,015.87 (for iPhone only, AppleCare+ charge has yet to appear; but a hold is in place).
Oh, I thought I'd share this info too I'm with Virgin, I asked (via Email) if I could get a Nano SIM shipped to me before the 21st, unfortunately Virgin can't ship me one. However, Virgin did say that they will reimburse the cost for the SIM should I choose to go out on Friday the 21st, to hunt down for a Virgin Nano SIM. They want me to shoot 'em an Email, and they'll reimburse the cost. Presumably with a copy of the receipt attached.
Let's hope the switch from my current SIM to the new Nano SIM won't take forever.

Just to confirm that if you're looking for a sim in Ottawa for Rogers. wireless wave in billings bridge will sell you one quick and fast for 9.99. Got mine. Now to await the phone and the dreaded phone call to switch it on Friday, sice we all know the Rogers website will be taking a dump all day. Lol.

That's because they see Sept 21-25 on all our orders. Weird that we were all given such a wide range, while the rest of the world just says Sept 21, even though the delivery map has the different dates by zones...
So I just called Wireless Wave in Barrie Ontario and asked if they had nano sims (for Virgin) and the guy says "Ya we have nano sims in stock.....umm I mean no, no we don't" You could hear someone talking to him in the background so I said "oh, so you don't have any?" and he goes "We arn't allowed to...no we don't have any, sorry".
Seems like they had them but they arn't allowed to sell them. I don't wanna have to drive all over Friday looking for one. Especially if I have my iPhone 5 and can't use it. That will be extra frustrating.

While we all wait, don't forget OS6 is now out. I had no issues installing it on my iPad 3 (won't update my iPhone 4 for now until Google launches a proper map app)
