Was number 2158 with telus, ordered at 8:15am fri morn. Didn't get my shipping notice untill 8:45am on the dot from telus today. Puralator attempted delivery at 1:15 today but wasn't home.

Went and picked it up from Puralator terminal at 6:30. Called telus to activate and was worried as had been reading the system was to backlogged to activate anymore iphones, I over heard same thing when I was in future shop buying an otterbox.

Only waited few mins on hold with telus. I instantly mentioned that i'm a business client, was told be no issue to activate. Had my 64g working in just mintues.

So as bad as telus was with keeping customers updated throughout the pre-order process I am more than happy with the end result.

Anyone have success activating their phone via the Telus website? My girlfriend just tried and it appeared to go through, but we are still waiting for the sim to activate. I assume it will take a couple hours.

I did it this afternoon, around 4 pm; made a post in this thread when it happened. I was talking to my GF on the phone while I was doing it online, and got cut off from her in mid-sentence. I was expecting it to take a few hours to kick in. Whoops. :) I think it took about 3 minutes from the time I hit the submit button. But the new phone didn't pick up service till I restarted it.

I logged in to my account right after they got back up and running this afternoon - my phone was working (and my old one showed "No Service") within minutes. However, as I signed up for a new three-year sentence and a different plan, I called them anyways to make sure I got on the new plan. Took the Client Care rep considerable effort to make the switch - was on hold for a while, then she asked if she could hang up and call me back when she fixed it - but even then it only took her about 10 more minutes.

Long story short - sounds like Telus's system is getting pounded and glitches are still happening. You've tried rebooting the phone?

FWIW, I'm still not seeing LTE and I'm well within Vancouver's coverage area.

I'm in Vancouver and I received my white iPhone 5 16GB from TELUS at 5pm PST. ATS delivered mine.

Web activation only took 10 minutes, and my iPhone 5 is now doing a full iCloud restore. 20 minutes to go...

Still haven't received the shipping notice though. lol

I was getting pissed because I ordered mine at 12:06am on the 14th, and it seemed like I wasn't gonna get it today. I know it's just a phone, but I want to have these things first. :)

No dings or dents on mine out of the box. I can't wait for the restore to finish so I can actually use the thing!

Here's a photo of it:

Calling Rogers now... will update and let all know what they say :)

I called Rogers when the online site was down around 6pm and they changed my SIM.. after 2 hours nothing on the i5 and the 4s was still active. So I called and they confirmed the new Nano SIM was definitely in the system. He reset it again and still nothing.

Now they are saying it can take 4 hours to activate the new SIM and switch over. What a pain. Can't Rogers get this stuff right. They have the slowest servers on the planet. :(

What number and extensions are you calling? I would like to phone them to and have a confirmation about my sim being switched over. Still no service.

Anybody who has not received their phone from Telus yet, here is what they have told me:

  • Purolator/ATS will be shipping until 8 PM Local Time in major cities
  • Purolator (Not sure about ATS) will be shipping on Saturday and Sundays specifically for the iPhone 5, and will only be delivering iPhone 5 packages
  • You should receive it tomorrow if you ordered before 4 PM PST on September 14th, Sunday if you are unlucky, and Monday is the absolute latest
  • Telus has had about 5500 iPhone 5 pre-orders for Winnipeg (Tiny in comparison to Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, etc) and it was just impossible for them to get them all to the customers
  • The choice of shipments received today was based on Purolator. If you didn't get yours today, it doesn't mean that you ordered too late or whatever, it's because the driver just didn't have enough time to get it to you
  • Shipment emails should have been received today, but if you didn't get one you should get one on the day you will receive your iPhone

The man was very helpful, and did reassure me that I will receive it on the weekend. Hopefully what he has told me is the truth, and not a bunch of horse ****. ;)

Phone activated on roger in calgary within seconds. But alas only 3G, should be within LTE range. I guess I'll just wait and see if it pops up?

Got mine about an hour ago

Got mine about an hour ago in perfect condition via UPS in Coquitlam, BC (near Vancouver). (Black, 64GB, Unlocked, from Apple.com/ca)
(It had been out for delivery from Annacis Island from like 9 AMish).

This seems very bizarre, as far as I know Purolator is closed on weekends...I've never heard of them delivering on weekends, especially for one product.

Are you sure this applies for all of Canada?

Got the phone at 6:30 PM, from the North Shore (Vancouver).

Delivery guy says that they'll do all the shipments today, probably will have deliveries as late as 9 PM he figures.

I spoke with Telus via Twitter and had them check into my pre-order since I have yet to receive an email. They checked and told me I will receive my phone tomorrow. I will find out tomorrow if they were just guessing.

Also, my girlfriend's new SIM has been activated via the website. Anyone having trouble getting through the Telus phone line should just log into their account on the website, and "change device". It took about 20 minutes for it to take effect. Looks like she has LTE out of the box as well.

I switched the SIM online and noticed that it too was getting no service on that device so I called in. The tech support rep told me this same thing. Luckily the older SIM is still working perfectly fine until the switch over happens sometime tonight.

We can wait, already restored my old iPhone 4 using my dad's 3G backup. All he needs is service, until then calls on the 3G are still coming in and he's happy downloading apps via Wifi on the 4.... While I'm enjoying my iPhone 5!

Just a late update.

The UPS truck came back to my address at 16:15 with my unlocked iPhone 5 32gb. :D

I went to Downtown Montreal Apple Store and in about 10 min I left the store with my FREE nano-sim from Bell.

Yes, FREE nano-sim. Just told them I wanted one for my unlocked Iphone 5 and they gave me one.

Now, next step, activate it. ;)

This is how the conversation went (Obviously paraphrased):

Rep: Your phone should come tomorrow, possibly Sunday but unlikely, or latest Monday.
Me: But tomorrow is Saturday, and most shipping companies close for weekends, right?
Rep: Purolator has made the exception specifically for this weekend for the iPhone 5 release. There have been too many orders to be fullfilled in one day in almost every city nationwide.
Me: So Purolator will deliver tomorrow? Does that include Winnipeg? (My location).
Rep: Yes, Purolator will be delivering all weekend to all major cities in the country, but only delivering iPhone 5 s.

I never once phoned Purolator to ask if this was true, I just took his word for it... Hopefully it is true.

Finally arrived in Vancouver BC at 6PM.

Several nicks all around the edges :( Called both Richmond and Oakridge Apple Stores and was told no replacements, only replacement parts. They can replace the bezel of the phone within 10 minutes apparently? No parts in-store yet though, was told to call the Apple Online Store's return numbers and ask for an advance replacement.

Okay, so I call that number and go through all the steps, only to be told that they're experiencing a high number of calls then abruptly ends the call. No option to hold or anything? Huh?

So I figure I'll just call them later when they're less busy and just use this phone for now. I try to activate it and get a 'There is a problem with your iPhone' error message.

Sigh.
