The CANADA iPhone 5 Pre-Order STATUS Thread!

How is everyone activating their unlocked phone on rogers? Apparently there is a huge delay. My sim isnt activating on my rogers.

Same here, had to spend an hour to go pick up the nano sim from the Apple Store. Got back home and did the switch on the Rogers web site (around 8pm), and still no service on my new phone...

Same here, mine just activated with Rogers... I reset network settings, and I'm only getting 3G when i'm clearly in a LTE zone... What gives?

I am in an HSPA+ zone (no LTE in my area :( which sucks) but shouldn't my iPhone still say 4G? It is still displaying 3G and 3G speeds. So similarish boat.

I just called *611 and the went through the options. The rep was on the phone within 4 minutes. Told me my queue was missed, resent the slammer, and within 1 minute and a restart my service was working. Worth a shot.

got my iPhone earlier.

got an invisible shield installed, and noticed the one part looks mangled. they said it was air/moisture that would work it's way out when dried.

might be going back to swap the shield, not activating til it's perfect.

got my SIM from the Source (Bell) for $5 plus tax.

it took me about 5 and a half hours to get the phone finally activated. I did the SIM change at 5PM EST, and the phone just turned on now, at 10:35 EST... but now no LTE even though i'm in a coverage zone. Again to phone Rogers, ugh.

lol problem is my rogers didnt accept my sim number and the only phone i have to call rogers right now is my old iphone that im trying to transfer lol

Anybody who has not received their phone from Telus yet, here is what they have told me:

  • Purolator/ATS will be shipping until 8 PM Local Time in major cities
  • Purolator (Not sure about ATS) will be shipping on Saturday and Sundays specifically for the iPhone 5, and will only be delivering iPhone 5 packages
  • You should receive it tomorrow if you ordered before 4 PM PST on September 14th, Sunday if you are unlucky, and Monday is the absolute latest
  • Telus has had about 5500 iPhone 5 pre-orders for Winnipeg (Tiny in comparison to Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, etc) and it was just impossible for them to get them all to the customers
  • The choice of shipments received today was based on Purolator. If you didn't get yours today, it doesn't mean that you ordered too late or whatever, it's because the driver just didn't have enough time to get it to you
  • Shipment emails should have been received today, but if you didn't get one you should get one on the day you will receive your iPhone

The man was very helpful, and did reassure me that I will receive it on the weekend. Hopefully what he has told me is the truth, and not a bunch of horse ****. ;)

I just got off the phone with the Telus web store and the guy told me that NO Telus phones would be shipping this weekend. Not sure if he was just referring to new shipments or if that included anyone who was suppose to get theirs today and didn't. This will be the last time I preorder, I'll just wait in line from now on

It seems like everyone is getting different information from different sales reps.
-.-

I guess we should all just hope they arrive at our homes tomorrow, or wait until Monday. :(

Finally arrived in Vancouver BC at 6PM.

Several nicks all around the edges :( Called both Richmond and Oakridge Apple Stores and was told no replacements, only replacement parts. They can replace the bezel of the phone within 10 minutes apparently? No parts in-store yet though, was told to call the Apple Online Store's return numbers and ask for an advance replacement.

Okay, so I call that number and go through all the steps, only to be told that they're experiencing a high number of calls then abruptly ends the call. No option to hold or anything? Huh?

So I figure I'll just call them later when they're less busy and just use this phone for now. I try to activate it and get a 'There is a problem with your iPhone' error message.

Sigh.

I had the same issue, phoned apple direct, my replacement phone is going to be here on Tuesday, they are overnighting it lol they had to place a hold on my CC for the amount of the 2nd phone but as long as I give the defective one back it doesn't go through.

Did the Rogers SIM switch online at around 8pm and I just called them to make sure it registered. The guy said it could take 4-5 hours more, LOL...

Oh well, it should be working tomorrow morning.

Received mine via UPS in Saskatoon at 11am this morning (apple.ca).

Thought I might have an expensive iPod for awhile as Sasktel does not have Nano-sim cards and at the time I pre-ordered the customer service center hadn't heard of such a thing :|

Luckily the micro sim trim-down worked like a charm and the 1mm thinner didn't make a difference (had planned to sand it down but early reports said it appeared it was not necessary).

Good luck to all who are waiting until Monday - its OK it will be sweeter (right?...sorry). UPS will always leave stuff on the door step but that whole "signature required" thing means I wouldn't want to go to the bathroom for fear of missing the delivery. I took a holiday today but still had mine delivered to the office so reception is always there to receive it. I'm sure everyone was impressed I didn't work and still sneaked in to pick my phone up...

Just got off the phone with Tech Support at Rogers.

Apparently, what happens is that the phones get initially provisioned, and they get a 3G signal. Due to the servers taking a dump delay, the LTE provisioning can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours after you start receiving 3G connectivity.

Basically, wait until morning, if not working, then call back

I was 5th in line in the Rogers Business Reservations system, but they didn't ship any phones pre-launch as far as I know and by about 2 pm I still hadn't moved up in the line or seen a shipping e-mail. So I got fed up and started phoning Rogers Plus stores. Got lucky! The upgrade took them about 2-3 hours (I left and came back) and then it took another 3 hours for Rogers' network to recognize the new SIM.

I love this phone but the whole experience of their Business reservations system left me thinking that it might be time for me to switch to another carrier next time. They ship out phones to 8300 customers on the residential side through their reservations system, but I'm #5 in line on the business side and they can't even ship out my phone on launch day?

Awesome. What phone number are you calling? I'm calling 1-800-676-2775 and the stupid automated system disconnects me immediately after telling me there are a lot of people. Doesn't even give me the option to hold

I agree with your sentiments 100%. Love Apple. HATE Rogers business customer (abuse?) service.

Hold the Home button down and say "Call Apple Inc." then tell the automated system you want to replace a phone

And here.

Are you really number one on the list? I hope you get yours early next week!

I just read on the Rogers forum that they won't be shipping business phones for 4 weeks minimum.

The girl I spoke to in customer service told me they were going to ship today 90% likely.... and low and behold still no tracking number. Im still numbers 2 and 3 in line for white 64gigs.:apple::mad::apple:

I don't have my 4S handy (I'm guessing that's not supposed to work on my unactivated 5), could you find out what number Siri is dialing when you do that? Thanks.

So I don't really have time to read this whole thread, but quick question:

I swapped to a nano sim using the Fido website around 4-5 hours ago. My new sim currently isn't activated yet. Any idea how long it should be taking?

Thanks!

anyone else having problems accessing fido's account management page? I'm trying to activate my nano sim but i can't log in to do it.
