The CANADA iPhone 5 Pre-Order STATUS Thread!

Got a SIM, old phone is deactivated, new phone says "Searching" ... its been 3 hours now :p

New SIM is attached to my account, so that's not the issue (I"m on Virgin) - I called them and they said everything looks fine. So I went to Apple Store - they said to wait, or try System Restore. So trying that now - hope it works!

Only time I've ever seen Searching before is when I turn off Airplane Mode. So I find this very odd.

Thanks. Sounds like they're closed now (6~6 PST). Going to call tomorrow, hopefully they can send one out ASAP. Wouldn't be too pleased if I have to get back in line.

QS2k12, did they say that they'd be sending a new replacement (in box with all the accessories) or only a replacement phone?
 
I activated my sim card at 6pm PST and it just activated right now at 8:35 PST!!!!Now I can finally use it.

Just tested the LTE Speeds in Vancouver and i got 16.74Mbps Download and 8.50Mbps Upload

LTE is coming to Sask in "Fall of 2012", as per their website. I think "Fall" might be today, but for some reason I'm only getting 4Mbps DL...

Sasktel is "Launching" IPhone5 on September 28 so maybe that means our Autumnal Equinox in Saskatchewan is also one week later?! I'll cross my fingers that my LTE iPhone5 is blazing next week I guess...
 
What kind of ghetto operation is Rogers running? First they charge for SIM cards, then they require some sort of manual intervention just to get LTE speeds? With Telus, they gave free SIM cards and LTE was there from the start.
 
Rogers nano sim activated just before midnight, so it took about 3.5 hours.

No LTE, but that's normal I guess since I'm on a 6GB for 30$ 3G plan. Rogers better move me to LTE for free or I'm taking this unlocked iPhone 5 elsewhere when my contract is up next summer.

im not on a LTE data plan and i have LTE
 
I have the rogers 6gb plan also, activated it 2 years ago, and LTE worked automatically, like without calling them or anything.
So to anyone on Rogers who isn't getting LTE I would just call them, let them know, because they are definitely letting people have LTE for free.
 
Switched my fido sim online using their portal around 8pm pst, new phone just became active around 930 pst.

I noticed the "3g" disappeared from my old phone, but the phone functions seemed to still work. Then as soon as I turned the old phone off, my new one came up with phone connection and the LTE active.

29 megs down / 18 up, not too shabby. But I guess that's only going to go down as more and more people get LTE handsets...

By the way... for anyone looking for a sim, I went to the Oakridge apple store in Vancouver around 730pm and they had plenty left for all carriers. The guy wasn't even interested in seeing my invoice, he just saw I was carrying a piece of paper and that was good enough :D
 
I got both my Fido and Telus SIMs activated today. I tried the Fido self serve portal but that didn't seem to work so I called Fido tech support and after 20min on hold he did the SIM swap over the phone. The Telus swap took most of the day as it had to be done by our corporate account rep and he said the Telus systems were down most of the day.

LTE was available immediately on both without any changes to plans (6GB/$30 on both). However, the speeds can very significantly... I've seen anywhere from 15/19Mbps (Dn/Up) downtown at 4PM to 43/23Mbps east van in the evening. I'm sure once everyone stops running speed test continuously things might improve :p

I haven't seen LTE show up yet. Been 3G all night. Not sure if I've been to a LTE area yet though. My area has HSPA+ for sure, I remember checking. Does that still show up as 3G?

HSPA+ is basically "jacked up" 3G (sorry to the technocrats) or operates using the same 3G infrastructure, so I believe, yes, it will still show up as 3G.

I'm on the 6gb $30 plan and I did not have to do that.
I just left the old sim in my 4s and activated the new one in my 5, once the change finally went through it came up as LTE right away.

Just got mine at 8:50 in Saskatoon. They have been doing a lot of work on the Sasktel towers but, I bet we won't see LTE until December.
 
I had to go out soon after I gt my iPhone so I didn't activate the nano-sim as my friends had tin wait 3+ hours for t to transfer over. I hot home and at about 2am, just before Rogers went down for maintenance I ported over. I had the original 6gb BlackBerry Dara plan, and it switched to LTE without me calling in. The nano-sim works in my BlackBerry still with bus fwiw. Download 23.38 and upload 11.12, but in less than 25 min and minimal usage I used almost 50mb! Yikes.

If LTE is still not working on your phone, go to general settings > About.

It should ask you to download a new carrier update which will activate LTE.
