I'm on the 6gb $30 plan and I did not have to do that.
I just left the old sim in my 4s and activated the new one in my 5, once the change finally went through it came up as LTE right away.

Werid a friend of mine did.
I don't get LTE here until later this year any ways so won't be able to test.. I'll call in a few days just to be safe.
 
Just the phone. Not like it can be a refurb this early into the launch heh

That's a bit disappointing to have a non-matching (serial/IMEI) box already. Time to see if I can convince the guy to send me a new one, box and all. Going to have to wake up at 6am!
 
Are you in Toronto? They said drivers dont get back until after 7:30 so chances are you might still get it. I would call them and see where its at they will let you know if it is on a truck or not. Call their number then 2 1 1 to get to a real person.

I finally got mine, i went to ups depot which happens to be on my way home to ask them to contact the driver and arrange a meet up. Thanks for tip man
 
I was just able to activate my nano sim on fido.

Although my area is completely covered by LTE in Surrey, BC, it seems to stay majority of the time in 3G (only once has it gone on LTE with 2 bars). Hopefully LTE reception improves overtime. just some background... I have CityFido and the 6GB/$30 plan from before but i didn't have to call in to have my account work on LTE.

Just an observation: I have my network set up for 802.11n at 5 GHz but my 5 seems to do better on my G network. Anyone else find this? I'll observe a bit more but I'm a bit bummed about this fact. N support for 5GHz has always been on my iPhone feature wishlist.
 
I haven't tested anything using my girlfriend's iPhone 5, but our MacBook Airs are significantly faster on the wifi using 5Ghz N wireless. We have an Apple Airport Express. The throughput is easily double what it used to be when I had the previous Airport Express model (basically identical, but without dual channel).
 
If LTE is still not working on your phone, go to general settings > About.

It should ask you to download a new carrier update which will activate LTE.

I have been there and it hasn't asked me to download a new carrier update. It says Rogers 13.0 as the carrier...

If this is LTE, what spotty service they are having. It's only pulling 3G still :(
 
Got off the phone with Rogers this morning..

Not getting LTE is a known issue, it's nationwide. IT is working on it and it should be fixed shortly, so no need to waste time calling in like I did.

Really? I thought that it was just me and where I am located in the Beaches neighborhood in Toronto. Hopefully LTE will show up soon then.
 
Still no phone...

Has anyone else still not received their iPhone or the tracking number from telus yet? I live in Toronto, ordered a 16gb black iPhone 5 at 5:30am on the 14 (well before their "guaranteed" cutoff time) and never received my tracking number email, let alone my phone. :( I tried calling Telus this morning and was told to call the Telus Web Store - did so and found out that they are only open Mon-Fri... really helpful telus! I am now on hold with telus again, and have been on hold for 30 min. Has anyone heard anything helpful from Telus recently? Thanks!
 
Anybody who has not received their phone from Telus yet, here is what they have told me:

  • Purolator/ATS will be shipping until 8 PM Local Time in major cities
  • Purolator (Not sure about ATS) will be shipping on Saturday and Sundays specifically for the iPhone 5, and will only be delivering iPhone 5 packages
  • You should receive it tomorrow if you ordered before 4 PM PST on September 14th, Sunday if you are unlucky, and Monday is the absolute latest
  • Telus has had about 5500 iPhone 5 pre-orders for Winnipeg (Tiny in comparison to Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, etc) and it was just impossible for them to get them all to the customers
  • The choice of shipments received today was based on Purolator. If you didn't get yours today, it doesn't mean that you ordered too late or whatever, it's because the driver just didn't have enough time to get it to you
  • Shipment emails should have been received today, but if you didn't get one you should get one on the day you will receive your iPhone

The man was very helpful, and did reassure me that I will receive it on the weekend. Hopefully what he has told me is the truth, and not a bunch of horse ****. ;)

I haven't. I ordered my phone through the government of Ontario discount site, so there's a third party that the information has to go through, but they had still promised it to come yesterday. I'm hoping that we'll be lucky today. Keep us posted.
 
From Telus… no email, no phone.

*edit* Just got a message from Telus on Twitter that the support person "requested" my tracking email be resent. I don't know how useful that will be if the "web support" is gone for the weekend.

Hi still haven't received any word from them - but I have made two different calls to Telus (an individual store, and their main line) and both people I talked to confirmed that they were still shipping today and that I should get my phone today. Now, who knows if this will be anymore accurate than their guarantee that I would get it yesterday - but still hoping...
 
My telus phone is on its way !! Didn't get an email but a guy from webstore gave me tracking number yesterday it got scanned and on truck now !!! Telus people don't stress !!!!

I'm in the same boat, ordered mine at 4:55am and NO ONE at Telus is being helpful at all. Has anyone received a phone today? There was talk if some deliveries on the weekend

I stil haven't gotten my - and I can't get a tracking number because the telus web store is closed on the weekend - but I have had to different telus people confirm that they are shipping on the weekend, and that I should have my phone today! Here's hoping...
