I just came home because you guys were saying deliveries were happening today and the purolator guy was standing on my porch as I pulled in the driveway !!!!

I received mine yesterday however didn't get a chance to activate it until now as my focus was to get a case, an additional cable plus my free sim card from Apple (2nd sim card since I paid for one on Thursday, but hey, it's good to have a spare - Unless someone wants to buy one at cost).

Apple store at Yorkdale had lots of Lightning cables, but no cases. Very limited or sold out at other carriers, however, I did find a good selection from Telephone Booth between Sears and the Bay. They even had some iPhones left at around 7pm!

I did my SIM swap online 20 mins ago. Smooth as butter. By the time I checked my iPhone 4, it was already no longer in Service. a few seconds later, it registered on the iPhone 5. At first I had 3G service, but it switched to LTE about 5 mins later. I am just restoring now, so haven't had a chance to use it yet. My plan is the original 6GB plan I got when the iPhone 3G came out.

Great experience so far. No scuff marks or anything, but it will be in the case immediately.

One thing..I don't find it that light. Everyone says how light it is, feeling almost empty.. OK, yes, it is lighter than my 4, but I expected lighter. Either case, I'm not complaining.

To everyone still waiting for theirs (especially if promised yesterday), I hope it comes ASAP. Thanks everyone for keeping me entertained while waiting for the phone to arrive for one of the longest weeks of my life.

Heading to France in 9 days, my next challenge is now to find a SFR nano sim card. I will take my "4" with me, just in case. (Never ever will I roam on Rogers, when for 24 Euros I have 40 mins and unlimited 3G data for 21 days. (Prepaid)
 
Finally moved to another part of town. I have LTE signals now. Speed is not too bad. Although Rogers says the area I'm in is fully covered in LTE on the coverage map. Seems they can't deliver the service. Gonna have to start shopping aroud and see what provider can cover me with LTE.
 
Just got my new iPhone 5! So excited!!! And telus activated me in about 10 min. Good luck to anyone who hasn't received their phone yet!!!
 
Went to Apple Store and they replaced my phone - I did get a dud. Luckily they already have replacement units. I got AppleCare+ just to be on the safe side. Using it finally! So fast (I had a 4) Got LTE right off the bat.
 
I also got my Telus iPhone 5 16GB Black today, just like Telus told me!

Not even mad anymore that it didn't come yesterday hahaha
 
Wow Rogers is impressing me. LTE actually does work, it's just too weak inside my house. (south shore Montreal) If I stand beside the window it'll go to LTE...

I can stop worrying about having to change my data plan. 😀
 
So I tried calling the online store and the Apple Store at the mall in regards to me switching from black to white. Online says to go to store, would be faster - I said they don't sell unlocked phones, but guy on the phone kept insisting they did. Then he said would have to return this, and order another one, 3-4 weeks without a phone. The first retail store said they couldn't do anything, second said they could only swap for the same one (so would have to be black). Not sure how I should do this. Wish they would just sell unlocked phones at the retail stores.

Hey, I ordered from Telus as well, September 14th 5:00 PM, Peterborough Ontario. I haven't recieved my tracking number email or my phone yet either. To be honest I'm pissed at Telus, this is ridiculous.

Try this:


I got my email and tracking works.

If you haven't gotten an email yet, try this:

Go to http://www.purolator.com/track/multi_track.html

Use the track by reference text field, the bottom one. Use the following reference number: 0070076274. In the next page fill in your postal code.

This might only work for Toronto.

Playing around by searching for tracking number HDN100397xxx and using random values for last 3.

0070076274 seems to be used for GTA packges, maybe ontario.
0070076275 seems to be used for Montreal/areas of Quebec.

Using the reference number from my girlfriend's package, I was able to find what I believe is my purolator tracking number. According to the website, my phone was not actually shipped until 7:25 last night. That is complete ********, but at least I know it's on the way. There were no tracking updates so far today.
 
Just to let everybody know who is on Rogers, with a family plan. None of their family plans have LTE / HSPA+. You may pick it up occasionally / get the speeds, but it wont be consistent. You will be stuck with 3G until Rogers revises their plans in November, when/if they may create a family LTE plan. Just a heads up.
 
Also, I called purolator to see if they could search by name or address on their end. They said no.

Wow. Between charging for SIM cards and luck-of-the-draw LTE service, this thread is a strong argument for switching providers from Rogers.

I may not have my phone yet from Telus, but at least when it arrives, I know I will have a free SIM, instant activation online, and guaranteed LTE.
 
I forgot to put apartment number ! Now it went back to depot gotta wait till Monday ! But telus didn't send me a shipping email so don't worry if you didn't get email
 
I had to go to a Telus store to give 2 ID card since my pre-orderwqas not able to go tru.. I was suppose to get it the 28th... they had some in stock, so they cancel my order and i was able to leave with my new iphone 🙂
