Arrived at Square One at 6:05ish in the morning. 2:25, and I've finally got my iPhone 4. Rogers, thank you for creating an extreme nightmare for everyone with your garbage systems. I'm on Bell but left the store with it deactivated. I'll just swap SIM cards when I get home.

same story with my sister...got to sherway 5:45ish, got our phones around 2:30 cuz rogers poopy system caused havoc...all we wanted was 2 unlocked ones but she had to wait 7hours in line cuz of server crashing and rogers customers...mind you, we are rogers customers but we wanted unlocked units...damn you rogers

I live in downtown Montreal and first tried at 11:50 am to go to the main Rogers Plus store on St. Catherine Street. I was roughly #65-70 in line. At the front of the line - but not in the store yet was a guy I knew. I asked him what time he started lining up and he told me at 7:30 am. He told me he was the 30th person in the line! You can gather how *slowly* the line was moving. Only 2 people to handle the upgrades etc at the main Rogers store in downtown Montreal. The Rogers system being down did not help of course.

I spoke to a Rogers rep there and he told me that they only received 60 phones so I knew I was not going to get one.

I then walked a couple of hundred yards to the Apple store and lined up with about 200 people. In 1 hour there the line moved roughly 10 yards. If this store were a 24 hour one at this pace I would not get a phone by midnight.

Apple were typically coy about how many they had and I was told when I first joined that someone would be coming around to take names and numbers and a phone would be set aside which you could pick up by closing Saturday. I was told they would be able to do the whole line in about an hour.

Of course, this whole thing was a facade and after 1 hour I guess perhaps 10 names were taken.

This was clearly intentional on their part.

They want the crowds to persist and I and several others essentially said screw this bs and left.

The hype machine is into overdrive and imbeciles like me fall for it.

I'm so glad to hear that you can do Rogers HUP at the Apple Store! Screw Rogers outlets, then, since they hardly got any stock. I'll go the the Apple Store when I get back to Toronto and do my HUP there.

They said to use the app in a few weeks. Nothing was given away today and if it was it was long gone before my sister got to the front and got our phones.

The app for the free case program is in the Canadian iTunes Store, why would they say to wait a few weeks? Aside from the fact it will most likely take a few weeks for the selected case to arrive.

Ya me to. Stupid Rogers stores have like 5...

Im hopin that the Apple stores wont sell out before Monday tho...

All you poor people who had to wait in line - makes my happy I'm a Virgin Mobile customer :) No line, working phone.

And I'm getting no work done today - because I can't stop playing with it :D

Yeah, looking at the Fairview line now and I'd say there's a few hundred people in it.

I'm just gonna try my luck tomorrow and see what happens

To take a wild guess, and assuming there are no stock refills in a day or so, I believe they will sell out by early tomorrow.

I dont no tho. Im in Calgary, and the Apple store stopped selling locked iphones for Rogers because of the server issues. They said come back later when its fixed.

I might be the only person hoping this Rogers server issue will last until monday, since that is the earliest I can get it :p

Is anyone else having problems activating the iPhone, I changed the sim on the rogers website and its been two hours and its still not working. I know Rogers is taking a hit right now so I'm just wondering if anyone else is having trouble. I got the unlocked 32 GB.

Just got back from the mall with my new iPhone from Bell.

It's funny seeing about 50 people lined up at the Rogers store, 0 people at the Bell store. Seriously why do you people use Rogers?

I'm a bit mad though because they didn't give me any good deals even though I've been a loyal customer for 5 years. I'm going to phone them tonight and ask for free caller ID, if they decline I'll just take it back and buy it unlocked.

I think you answered your own question... :)

On another note, I take back *almost* everything bad I said about Fido. I confirmed with a CSR on the phone that they DO NOT stack contracts. If I do a HUP for the iPhone 4, this finishes off my current contract and starts a new one. Yay, can use Fido rewards!

My one remaining beef is that they could cause a lot less headaches simply by providing all their employees with the same information! What a novel concept!

Grrrr.... so much time wasted, still no Iphone 4 to play with...

(I'm half-joking.)

Got my 32GB from the Future Shop in dt Vancouver... showed up at 9:30am, had it in my hand by 11. :)

Does anyone know what the lines are like at the Apple Stores in Toronto around this time of the day? (Yorkdale and Eaton Centre) And if they even have stock left? I'm not sure if it's worth it to go down to one.

Literally came on to ask the same thing. I didn't want to spend anymore time in the store so I took everything home and switched the SIM to Micro SIM online. iTunes shows my phone # in the information so the SIM transfer worked but it's been stuck with "Waiting for activation..." with No Service since I turned the phone on. I know this happened with the 3G launch and a reset worked for me, I'm in the middle of a fairly large sync so I won't be able to test that out for a bit.
