Just called again, got another employee this time who says that they have no details on shipments and when they will arrive and never did, wtf?

thats what i've been getting from fido stores. no one knows anything. but i've heard rumors on certain dates.

I called yorkdale this morning and the girl said they have no clue when they get them. I called eatons centre and the guy told me they had none but to call back in the afternoon and check. Slightly annoying not knowing an exact day of shipments.

You have to keep bugging them: called Yorkdale before 1pm and they got a limited shipment. Now I'm in a line with 150 people ahead of me. All 32's are spoken for; they're asking everyone and should be able to tell us if we can get a 16.

Just called Fairview; still no joy there.

I'm at Oakridge now and there's a 60 person lineup. It's 11:25 and they said it'll be an hour wait. I called Pacific Centre earlier and they said they have very limited quantities.

Do you know how many iPhones they are getting at the Oakridge store?

I called yorkdale an hour ago and they said they didn't have any. :/ I wouldn't even have to wait in line since I'm just exchanging my closed 16GB for a 32GB.

Stupid Canadian iPhone question... I've ordered an iPhone 4 off the Apple web store. Does it come with a blank SIM?
Answer to stupid question: no. I was fairly sure of this, but wanted to confirm.

I will be getting a replacement SIM from Fido. I could go to a Fido dealer and get one, but since there is no such dealer in Bancroft, they're mailing one to me. And a minor detail... the Fido rep said that they could not have a separate billing and shipping address for me; so she temporarily changed my billing address to be the one I'm at out of town. I'll change it back when I get the SIM and use the utility on the Fido website to transfer my info.

32GB Online from Telus

It might have been mentioned before but while the 16GB is still currently unavailable online from Telus (at least in Quebec), I was able just a few minutes ago to order a 32GB.

Did anyone do the same thing? If so, what was the estimated shipping date for your order?

Finally got my iPhone 4!

Had my wisdom teeth pulled out this morning, and when I came home, there was an iPhone 4 sitting there!

My dad went and got it during my surgery. The pain hurts, but at least the iPhone 4 balances it :D

If I got my iPhone 4 from online apple store, and decided to return the phone back (I know I won't), can I return it to a regular retail apple store?

I was there from 11:00 and were around 80 people in line at all times until 2:00 when the lines were about to clear. They ran out of stock at around 12:30 and in the end, they said they were 'technically' sold since the rest are for pre-orders apparently.

Another story: the Apple guy who helped me didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He was moving the cursor around the Fido webpage pretending to be looking at something and he had to ask his colleagues for help.

Then there was a problem with my account. Fido told me by email and eligibility tool that I could upgrade for $399 but the site said I was eligible for around $700. I told them and they called Fido who said it's just a site error.

While setting up the phone, a colleague came up and whispered into the Genius' ear and said that Fido stacks their contracts two 4 years. The Genius said to his colleague "that's good information.." and brushed him off as if he didn't want me to hear. He confirmed that I did not have to extend my contract to 4 years. Now I'm still waiting for my SIM to be activated and Fido profile to be updated to see what really happens...

UPDATE: The 'genius' didn't even do it right. I was waiting for the whole day for the phone to activate to no avail. I then found a function on my Fido account that allows me to disable my old sim card and enable the new one. I did so and my iP4 was activated within 2 minutes! I now feel so much better not having an iPod touch!

I'm not surprised. I was at Pacific Centre the other day to have a look and the "Genius" was not even aware of Facetime not using cellular minutes

I've found most of the staff at Pacific Centre and Oakridge to be less than helpful, they're just greeters. I have more luck asking questions on this site than asking a Genius.

The exact same thing happened to me regarding the upgrade price. Fido tried to tell the Apple store guy assisting me it was because my voice plan was under $25 so I had to change it before I could upgrade.

I was so mad, I said ok, that's it, port me over to Rogers. Unfortunately all the Rogers plans were crap, so I called Fido and the CSR told us yeah, the $25 thing is true, but there is a work-around in that the Apple store guy will select the full price iPhone and then I'll get a credit for the $480 on my account in a few days. It took multiple calls to them to sort it out, but I left paying $0 and hopefully my plan is intact.

Be aware though, that if you signed up or upgraded in 2008, your data plan will start fresh for 3 years but your voice plan WILL be stacked.

Word of warning for those trying to get iPhones from the Apple stores in Vancouver: don't bother calling. Multiple people are reporting that they call in, get told there are no phones and they swing by anyways and get one even though they apparently aren't in.

Managed to get a phone from the Eaton Centre after about 5 hours.. what sucks about it is that I have to sit and look at it without opening it because I may need to return it. Ended up having to buy it unlocked because Rogers was unable to see me as an authorized person to upgrade the phone and after 5 hours waiting I wasn't leaving without one.

Going to call to get authorized tomorrow, but I have a question, if I go to the store to do somewhat of a "replacement", can I get my money back and sign the phone onto the account when i'm authorized at the $159 price point?

Or can anyone else see a fix thats possible?

Thanks for your help.

I think if you walk in to the apple store, and have all that authorized stuff settled, they can go lock the phone to ROGERS, then give you a refund and charge the approperiate 159 or whatver your eligibility is to your ROGERS account. All phones come unlocked, they lock it using the ROGERS system in store while you are there. So you can keep your same phone they will just lock it and sort things out.

Thanks
AE

aelalfy is right. i've seen several people now mention that they purchased the phone outright for different reasons (rogers system down, not auth on account, etc) and they've gone back to return it and re-buy it as a rogers upgrade on their account.

Thanks a lot for your help! Sounds amazing i'll just have to stare at the unopened box for a couple more hours.

So does the vancouver pacific store still have any iphone 4 in stock? 16 or 32gb? I drove all the way from CA, and am curious about that... I am now staying in a hotel in Vancouver, wondering what time should I get to line up for my iphone 4

They don't as I understand but head down there around 9:30 and hang around and it's likely you can get one. They didn't get any in until after 10 this morning so don't be deterred if they don't immediately have more stock as soon as they open. As I understand it the stores are likely to get new stock each day, but I cannot be certain.

You can go ahead and use your phone :D

They'll just refund what you paid back on your card / debit / cash and then charge you on your next bill. It doesn't have to be sealed - I took mine back this morning.

Have fun!

I don't think you can. When I asked apple about this for the iPad they said I had to return back to the online store. I think it has to do with monitoring stock levels, etc.

I wish we could do this, I would order my iPhone 4 online and be able to change it in store if i had a problem or return.

Instead I am going to wait until i get back (August 30) and try to get one in store. It seems that stock is replenished pretty often and I will be able to get one in the first few days back at an Apple retail store.

Waiting to grt in a store, i feel, is more advantageous when it comes to exchanges and returns. This is of course if you have an Apple store near you.

At any new product launch there's no point calling, I've always found stock when I go in even when they said they're out.
