Really??

Every time I call Rogers, it says "If you're calling about the new iPhone 4, press pound now." So I press pound, and then it says "Due to overwhelming demand for the iPhone 4 the Rogers Call Centres are currently out of stock."

Should I just be ignoring that message and press 2 for iPhone sales? lol

I'll be doing an upgrade, by the way.

I tried lining up twice last week during my week off from work. Both times they ran out of phones before they got to me lol.

Hmm... chances of getting one after work are slim because I finish work at 5. What about weekends? Has anyone successfully gotten a 32GB iPhone on the weekend in Toronto?

I did - second day they were available @ SQ1. Lined up around 7:30 am and was out of there a few hours later with my 32 GB.

You can certainly get one on the weekend - it'll just take some effort at this point.

My iPhone was delivered on Friday. I had ordered it from Virgin. It's pretty darn amazing so far! :)

Now, I'll just have to wait for my bumper (2 to 4 weeks). Also, I ordered the Marvel collage from Gelaskins... looks neat!

Just use the darn thing already! lOl

Just be careful with the back glass, don't put it down on a desk or anything...from what I can tell the front glass is pretty tuff.

Glad u finally have one on the way...enjoy.

And for anyone else who wants to try FaceTime, I joined a site yesterday called www.ftfun.com it's for people like you and me who doesn't have someone they know to try out FaceTime with. It's pretty cool, except my first call the guy didn't have a shirt on! LOL

I don't get this. I've been using my iPhone 4 for over a week, putting in down on desks all the time and the back glass looks as new as it did 12 days ago.

Don't worry about scratching it. Just use it!

I have a question - how do you know if Apple store would be getting stock that day? I think I may line up for it, but I don't want to do it if they won't be getting any stock. Do I call ahead of time or do I just kind of hope that they will get shipment?

Thanks

OMG i dont want to use this phone it looks soo nice lol.. If i could get taht protective film in i have ordered atleast. its also week 31 according to the serial on the box.

You gets in line and you takes your chances...

Unfortunately nobody, not even the store staff seem to know when they're getting stock in. You could try calling, but chances are that there are lines at all the stores, so you might be SOL if you wait that long before you get there.

It sucks , but that appears to be the situation. :(

lol omg. I guess I'll try Saturday...I'll bring Monopoly to pass time. Thanks

Saskatchewan's 3G network just came online today with coverage in the major centers and connector highways. Full coverage for the province by end of year. I imagine Sasktel is taking a few calls asking if they provide a micro sim. :)

Just an FYI, anyone reading this from Saskatchewan. Bell and Telus work there as well and they should be able to do a # transfer.

Anyone that got rogers retention order. Does your paper work say that you will be billed 630$ plus 35$ activation fee?

This is what it says on the piece of paper that came with the phone in the box.

Front glass - not so tough. Just noticed my first scratch on it. About a 1/4 inch long, where the 2nd app is on the bottom dock.

Time to break down and get a front screen protector (I have a case). I've been waiting to get a Power Support one, but haven't seen them anywhere yet. Will have to get something else.

In a year and a half - I don't think I got a single scratch on my ipod touch front screen. ... took only 18 days with the iPhone. :(

I want to get a screen protector. I've ordered a free case, but it won't ship until late September so for now I've left the back clear film on the iPhone4 that it had from delivery.

I think Rogers in Newfoundland has received 2 iphone 4's since launch... pathetic -_-

Not just Newfoundland! I've yet to hear from any store (Rogers/BB/FS/Fido/WW, etc) that has received more than two sets (2x16GB, 2x32GB) for each carrier. They seem to be getting these micro-shipments twice a week if that. I've heard from a couple of stores (mainly T-Booth, Wireless Wave) that they've only been shipped one or two since launch across all carriers. Apple is definitely retaining most of the stock for their stores considering that they appear to be receiving at least a couple dozen of each on a daily basis. I got mine on launch but my sister is desperately trying to track one down and most places are doing wait lists, meaning she's way down the list and at a rate of a couple devices a week, it's going to be a LONG wait.

That really doesn't cut it for places like here where there are NO apple stores. Argh.

Same here. I'm waiting for my bumper case to arrive but that certainly didn't prevent me from using the phone. I haven't noticed any scratches on it whatsoever.

I don't think it is the glass that is weak but the coating that gets scratched. I never had any problems with the 3G screen scratching (the last year I used it without a screen protector) and so far my iPhone 4 is fine but I am not fully confident it is going to stay like that.

If you want to get the PS anti-glare seemingly the exact same protector (but not the crystal) is sold in various places in Canada under the Tru name. You can find it at various Rogers and Fido stores etc.

I tried it and whilst I am very good at centering it perfectly, I cannot for the life of me avoid a tiny bubble in both of my attempts. I did this in the bathroom 10 minutes after running the shower and still I cannot avoid it. I am assuming the bubble is a little bit of dust underneath.

I gave it a few hours and got mad and took the protector off so now I am naked in the front.

I had an anti-glare screen protector on my 3GS (bought from a Rogers store, under the "Tru" name as you said) and all it did was make the screen all fuzzy. It had a great feel though.

I don't have a screen protector on my iPhone 4 because I can never get them perfect, a speck of dust always finds its way under them. I just get mad at them so I decided against them this time.

Honestly, the screen feels fantastic without one. It's the way it was designed to be used.

Agree about the Tru screen protector, been using for almost two weeks now and I believe Tru and PS used the same anti-glare technology.

Thanks Macnator for the reply.

I suffer quite serious OCD :) and I hope that if, probably when, I get my screen (or coating) scratched it won't upset me too much. The Apple store put the PS Anti-Glare when I bought my 3G and the girl that did it was amazing. Pretty quick and a perfect job. Centered and not one bubble.

Supposedly the HD version of the anti-glare for the iPhone 4 is better than the previous anti-glare but I did notice some diminishment of the screen which I may or may not have got used to. Or perhaps I am just trying to rationalize the fact that I am not very good at putting these things on and am now forced to go bare in the front because I do not trust anybody I know to do it properly either.
