I would assume if anything (i.e; other than their site being notorious for not working), the site was down to remove the code that was discovered. I would have been shocked if Rogers would have put something up during the weekend, let alone before Apple made any type of official announcement. Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if we hear something on Monday. I don't necessarily think the code showing up is the strongest indicator something is happening, I'm sure it would have been added at some point regardless of an announcement. I wonder if anyone has hit up Rogers/Bell/Telus, etc. to see if there are similar hidden source codes on their site. I was looking around Apple's page last week and didn't find anything of interest.

I spoke to a Fido rep yesterday to find out some general details about upgrading. Their system allows anyone who is within 14 months of the end of their contract to upgrade at the new user price. There is a big downside to Fido though; if you upgrade any time left on your contract will be added to your new contract.

So; in my (and many others I'd guess) case. I have 12 months left on my Fido contract. I can upgrade to the iPhone 4 with the new user price however those 12 months will be added to my new 36 months contract giving me a 48 month contract. Again, a four year contract. Under the existing rules I wouldn't be able to get a new upgrade for three years.

I thought about buying an unlocked one but I've got a good deal on my plan (6gb + 200 minutes + early evenings for $52) so I figured if the 32GB is $799 ($900 with HST) then I would need to recover $14 a month over four years to make it cheaper than biting the bullet.

What a crappy deal eh? That said; the guy on the phone was great, really helpful.

Oh; and they said they're unlikely to be dealing with upgrades over the phone; it'll either be in a store or online.

sorry but you were misinformed.

there is no such thing as a 4 year contract, no matter what. never ever ever will happen. it maxes out at 3 in canada.

Yep. Thank God there is no such thing as a 4 year contract... 3 years is long enough.

Adgeman, when you resign a contract, your new contract replaces your previous one. So if you have 12 months left to go and resigned a new contract tomorrow... your new contract would be 3 years starting tomorrow.

Wrong. With Fido, the contracts stack up.

Says the same on my cashier's receipt too.

Believe it or not... he is actually speaking the truth. This is for Fido ONLY. Rogers does not stack and continues their current method of replacing your contract from the day of the hardware upgrade and/or plan extension.

So if you have 14months left in your 3yr contract and you choose to get a new phone under the hardware upgrade program then yes you can, BUT you stack on an additional 3 years in your contract totaling a contract of 4yrs 2 months.... WOW

Rogers Wireless customers currently allows customers with 12 months left in their 3yr contract to get a HUP and simply extend your contract from that date and not stack.

Unless something was changed quietly, 3years was the max you can be locked down under contract, but this 4year thing Fido is doing is stupid.

No, there are 4 year contracts. My iPhone 3G is a 4 year contract. Of course, you are not signing up for 4 years. Instead you are signing up for 3 years + what's left of your existing plan.

my apologies. seems like this came into affect in April. just did a search on HoFo.

very stupid.

This is a bit irrelevant, but I've heard WIND is getting three Android phones soon. I'm already a WIND customer, and eligible for an upgrade (no contracts!) so that will be the end of my needing to worry about Robbers, Hell, or Smellus.

Oh yea no doubt Wind and even Mobilicity and Public Mobile will eventually get Android devices because those companies make devices which support AWS and CDMA.

Just hope that you can get the firmware updates in a timely manner and not have to wait several quarters of a year before you get an update.... That would be great if they can speed up that process and not have to wait as long as other carriers

Ah, sorry guys. Looks like I was the one who was misinformed. Wow, a 4 year contract... and I thought 3 years was a long time! lol.

Well it has to be this week in order to achieve a July launch.

With the hidden forms on the Rogers page discovered yesterday to Spanish carriers tweeting July 28th, and then some other forums/blogs reporting that something is coming Friday the 16th, it has to be this week!

and I went to an Apple Store today and the sales rep said that they would have it 'first' (but having it same day along with Rogers/Bell/Telus does still qualify as 'first') and can process all new activations and hardware upgrades for any carrier which sells the phone.... Yea I know he is just a sales guy, but the main reason I asked was to confirm if they can indeed to HUP and yes they can even-though I knew that before :D

From what I've heard, we're looking at a end of July launch... We're only the first full week into July so far... There are at least 1 week left maybe 2 before it gets launched.....

considering the fact that there is exactly 3 weeks left in july, and it's common knowledge that it wont launch on sat july 31st, i guess it's safe to say:

WOO LESS THAN 3 WEEKS TILL WE GET THE IPHONE! :)

iPhone won't work on Wind. They don't support the frequency.

Cool

I have a feeling this years Canadian launch will be the biggest so far! In saying that I'm hoping Rogers allows preordering via phone/net and delivers to homes as to avoid the massive lines.

I'll be putting 1800-268-7347 on speed dial that morning! :)

I don't care about Apple pre-ordering, I just hope the carriers will allow us to pre-order. More specifically Telus through their "Your account" thingy.

They better have Apple pre-ordering! I want my iPhone 4 to be unlocked!

+1. I'm not signing any more 3 year contracts with Rogers!
