Apparently 680News is Rogers/Fido only as well... nice huh?

I didn't know there was a Scotiabank app. Thanks Draz!

I actually applaud Rogers for doing what they did with limiting their own products to their own customers. What does Bell offer you? PVR programming on the go and mobile tv. And Telus? NOTHING

Rogers is really the only carrier that gives something back to their own customers when it comes to the iPhone. And I applaud them for doing this, I know a lot of people don't like what they did but it is a great marketing tool.

Rogers My Account... or Fido My Account
iTranslate... so I can learn to speak Francais :p
RogersRadio... yup Rogers/Fido customers only
680News... a must if your in the Toronto area (Rogers/Fido only)

Yellowpages... amazing app for finding stores, way better than Google Local Search
Starbucks, TimmyMe, McDonald's... Because you always need one
TD, CIBC, Scotiabank, ING Direct... if you bank with either of them grab their app.

If you still have basic cable and don't have a tv listings then:
What's On from Napkin Studio... AMAZING using Zap2it.com tv listings also has movie theatre listings and show times for pretty much all the movie theatres (at least all of them in the Toronto area). Or even if you have digital cable and want to check what is on TV when you are on the go it is great.

There are tons of other apps but I listed some specific ones which I find handy and somewhat Canadian and all the ones listed are free :p

Thanks draz! This list is great. I'm in the GTA so these are perfect! I didn't realize Scotiabank had an app - I'll look it up, as well as the other apps you mentioned.

By the way, you must have been so excited when Apple announced the July 30 launch date. I know you've been waiting a long time! You'll have to let me know how you like it since I jumped ship (kind of) and went with the 3GS :p

I was pressing that refreshing button every 20 secs on the Engadget liveblog :p
Already booked the 30th off at work, but depending on if pre-orders are available I might have to switch it to the pre-order day so I can stay home and mash F5 on my computer! lol
Otherwise I'll just bring the laptop to work and tether off my iPhone and order it that way =)

LOL. I was participating in an online seminar but had the Engadget blog refreshing in the background :p

I'm curious as to whether there will be a pre-order date. Are you going to be buying outright or HUPing?

Question wasn't directed at me but...

I have to see what Rogers will do for pricing and then decide from there. If it's a good deal I will upgrade through them. If it's not so good I will buy from Apple.

Upgrade for sure 16gb Black.

If they end up having 16gb White I might go for it and see how I like a white phone.

I hope Rogers puts the eligibility tester back up soon... Also really hope they do preordering but I am doubting it based on every other year.

I'm hearing lots of rumors from people who've called Rogers, Telus and Bell that there will be no pre-order option. It'll be first come first serve at the stores the day of launch.
The only place you may be able to pre-order will be the Apple online store. And that would be for the unlocked version only. And there is still no confirmation of pre-orders yet from Apple. I would have thought they would have said starting Monday you can pre-order.
Now it's wait and see again.

You guys who have been using the iPhone for a while now, can you recommend some apps? So far I only have WeatherEye, Twitter (which I use for school, believe it or not), Yelp, IMDB and Epicurious.

As others mentioned, talking about apps used only in Canada, TD app is really a good application for TD Canada Trust's customers.

MapQuest also is a good navigation app. i believe there are more than one app, but look for MapQuest for mobile. I should tell you that it is based on internet usage.

Someone upthread was asking about whether they could buy an unlocked iPhone in Canada using a foreign credit card. According to this page, the online store will only accept Canadian credit cards, and according to this page, they will only ship to Canada. The retail store? I'm not sure.

Man, I wish RBC had a banking app. I've been using the iPhone's browser.

Looking on the iTunes store, I see a couple of ATM finders but no official app from them.

I'll probably debate this from now until July 30th if we have no preorders...

But should I line up at Apple Store (Fairview Mall - Toronto) or Rogers Store (not going to say which one :p). I'm more leaning towards Rogers Store because the location I have in mind is a fairly large one which had a decent stockpile on launch day for 3G and 3GS

The Apple Store line ups will be crazy long but you know they will get a huge stockpile for launch day so even if you are far back you have a good chance of getting one... Whereas Rogers Store you can be there at like 7am and be about 10th in line and get one.

/sigh

I just found out the girlfriend doesn't work on the 30th so she'll be waiting in line for my phone while I work to pay for it.

Trust me, RBC is making one as we speak.

I just checked Bell's website, and they changed the iPhone 4 from Coming soon or Coming July 30th.

However they do accept wire transfer payments :D
Thanks for the links

Man, I need a Apple Store Canada App...

Anyway, is the White iPhone available for launch date in Canada?

I have the same question... does anyone think the white iPhone 4 will be available at Canadian launch? Also, will there be any pre-orders/sign up sheets from either Apple or the carriers?

For those in Vancouver… where would you line up? Pacific Centre Apple Store, Oakridge Apple Store, or go to Future Shop/Telus Store?

Any feedback is very much appreciated!! ;)

Dammit, if there are no preorders, I'm going to be seriously pissed off! I'm at the cottage with my family until Aug. 1, and there's no way I can go back early on the bus by myself because of the baby. Argh.

So if there's no preordering, would I be able to try to snag one on July 30 online or on the phone, or would I have to go to a store no matter what? I'd be getting mine from Rogers.

What fees are included when you buy the iPhone 4? Also would it be cheaper to buy it subsidized then cancel the contract, or to just buy at full price.

I'm on the phone right now to Apple Canada and getting difficulty confirming whether wire transfers will be accepted even though it is stated clearly on their website.

For some reason they are saying only credit cards are accepted.

For the iPhone 3G launch I saw that the Rogers kiosk in the bottom of Pacific Centre had lots. I strolled over there at noonish and they had tons and no one was in line. However, I had to wait for the girlfriend and by the time that happened they sold out! I then went to the Robson and Seymour Rogers store.

I think no matter what you choose you're in good shape, but I'd definitely pick something in the downtown core so you can run between stores in case the one you're at runs out.

What do you all think???

Will we receive the 2nd problem free batch or be stuck with the first come our launch day?

It also kinda sucks that we don't get the free bumpers...but at the same time maybe that means that we will be getting a better batch of phones so there's no need for free bumpers.

Sorry... Where did you hear that we won't get free bumpers? Steve said until Sep 30, and made no mention of it being US only.

Unless you just mean that they're out of stock right now, but I still think we will be eligible for a free case from available options.
